Animal Cruelty
It is difficult to believe how some humans are capable of inflicting pain to animals just to satisfy their lowest instincts or for money. The way people treat animals all over the world may defers from one place to another, but in general more people are standing up for animal rights in hopes that one day animal cruelty will be no more. However, this is not a perfect world, and animals, domesticated and wild, are abuse and beaten every single day. For example, dog fighting which is described as “The act of baiting two dogs against one another for entertainment or gain” (Yilmaz, Coskun, and Ertugrul). It is just a horrific and devastating experience that no dog should ever have to go through, “animals have been and continued to

Also, Calling the Fight is when the owner do not what the dog to continue fighting and quiets, and the most embarrassing for the owner is when the dog if the dog escapes by Jumping the Pen or dies. Lee University Law Dean Rodney Smolla said, “Our culture is filled with images of repulsive activities and expressions of repulsive ideas, and our free speech tradition stands against... Sending people to jail for it” ( Joan). Near the San Jose, California, airport and individual reached into the car of Sara McBurnett and threw her dog into oncoming traffic. The dog died and the court system found him guilty of animal cruelty and other forms of violence. In Illinois the penalties for dog fighting, brutality, and neglect has increase and psychological counselling for juveniles and animal hoarders are in effect in hopes to help and stop animal
“Mom! Mom! The dogs got Cody. The dogs got Cody” (Vancouver Sun, 2007). Just a few days after Christmas in 2004, these are the cries that awoke Sheri Fontaine. Fontaine raced from her bed into the living room to find her three-year old son, Cody Fontaine, savaged by the dogs that were staying temporarily in her house. Tragically, young Cody did not survive the attack. A young life taken, a mother’s life ruined. Sadly, this story is not as uncommon as one of violence against people, they exhibit highly stubborn characteristics that make them difficult to control, and such bans have proven to be extremely effective.
In 18 August, 2011, the source of this event is from Herald Sun. A four-year-old lovely child named Ayen Chol was mauled and killed by a pit bull cross while she was playing in her home. The vicious pit bull escaped from a neighbour’s yard and mauled Ayen in a sudden attack. The dog rushed inside the house and set upon Ayen and some other children who were watching television. Ayen’s mom tried to beat the dog away from the children with a table, but she failed. Then the dog turned on Ayen and the vicious injuries caused Ayen’s death. Dr Cam Day, who is the RSPCA’s Queensland pit bull expert, has claimed that American pit bull terriers are ‘head, shoulder, feet and everything else above other breeds’ in terms of their capacity to injure and maim. If the government doesn’t ban pit bulls, these tragedies would continue to happen and children’s lives would be threatened all the

Animal cruelty occurs all over the world. The human race has a major effect on the natural world, especially animals. Animal cruelty is an example of how man has taken advantage of his power. Those exhibiting cruelty towards animals have been proven to have a tendency to harbor violent psychological problems. Animal cruelty occurs all over the world. Fortunately, many countries have enacted laws and penalties to stop this harsh behavior.
“There can be many reason for animal cruelty, like any other form of violence, is often committed by a person who feels powerless, unnoticed, or under control of others. Some who are cruel to animals copy acts what they have seen or that have been done to them, others see harming an animal as a safe way to get revenge against--or threaten-- someone who cares about that animal”. (“Animal… Statistics”) Concerns towards abusing animals have gone up in the past. Although there are not many cases on animal abuse, many have occurred. Abusers are charged with Criminal Animal Abuse and then sentenced to life in prison. Some animals that are physically abused are sometimes rescued by Animal Control, and are taken it to an animal shelter. However, many shelters have not had the space to keep the animals so the workers would have to put them down (Carol Roach). Researchers have shown that the main animals getting abused are dogs, chickens, horses, and livestock (“Animal...
Animal cruelty have been going on for years. The most common victims that are affected are dogs. Pit-bulls are one breed that is heavily involved in dog fighting and it given them a bad reputation. There were 1,880 cases reported in 2007 and 64.5 percent of those cases involved dogs. Animal cruelty is a crime and it is connected to a lot of serious crimes. There are multiple cases of cockfighting and dogfights that involve drugs which the
Many people would like to believe that animal cruelty doesn’t exist, but little do they know it is still happening all around the world every single day. The treatment we have on animals is unethical. It’s unreal how animal cruelty is still a thing because of the fact we live in a world of right versus wrong. Animals are looked as a form of product instead of what they really are, living breathing creatures. The use of animals in entertainment has been going on for thousands of years. Animals are forced into racing, captivity, violence, all for the sake of amusement to us. The children love to take a peek through the gates and cages of animals in zoos. People who are young and old love to watch the animals race. What people don’t know is that attending these events oftentimes means you’re supporting the abuse that is done to the animals. They have been taken out of their natural habitat, stripped from any rights they had, and forced to comply to the demands of human beings. The unfair treatment given to animals when used for entertainment purposes constitutes animal cruelty.
Executive Summary Every 60 seconds, an animal is abused. Dogs, cats, horses, and many other types of animals are being neglected and tortured everyday, yet resulting in few and minor consequences for the perpetrators. Animal abuse is prevalent in the United States and has been an ongoing issue since the 1970's, and prior to. Society as a whole has chosen to avoid the facts and arguments about animal cruelty, because to some it is seen as acceptable and typical. It becomes much more frowned upon when people actually see the results of the cruelty, especially in the media.
The abuse that animals endure at human hands is heartbreaking, sickening, and infuriating. Animals are just as delicate as humans, so why not abuse us too? Animal lives should be just important as ours. No animals should be killed or abused for testing, entertaining, clothing, or hoarding. Every year, millions of animals are being killed and torture for testing.
Animal cruelty is an issue that gets plenty of attention in the U.S. From all the commercials to the donation hotlines and tee shirts everyone in the states knows that it is a relevant issue, but what about testing on animals? It’s not as relevant or discussed as other forms of cruelty, but the truth is we kill thousands of innocent animals all for the hope that maybe a wrinkle or two may disappear. This is horribly insensitive and cruel and I really can’t believe that we could do this to such innocent and loving creatures. We have to accept that animals are not ours. Cosmetic testing on animals is not only cruel but illegal in several countries; innocent animals are constantly losing their lives for our vanity.
Should the torture of an innocent animal go unpunished? No, it should not; the real question is to what extent should the perpetrator be punished? The most basic definition of animal abuse is the intentional act of inflicting physical pain, suffering, or death on an animal; this includes monstrous neglect (the act of withholding food and water) that causes an animal to suffer, die, or be put in imminent danger of death. Currently, animal cruelty offenders are not punished to the extent that some believe they should be. Animal cruelty should receive mandatory jail time because the abuse towards an innocent animal is deemed inhumane and oftentimes is a precursor for violence against humans.
Throughout this school year, every student has been challenged in one way or another in every assignment that they received. In the three artifacts chosen for this reflection, Rikki Tikki Tavi for the informative portion, the argumentative essay Animal Cruelty in Relation to Human Entertainment, and the narrative piece, The Affect of Athena on Athens, one can see the improvement of the project and not only the challenges that I faced, but also my achievements.
For animal welfare and the causes of animal abuse new research has been created. Since animal abuse is fairly a new subject, new research is constantly brought up. In the Bahamas a study was done in the College of Bahamas, and it states that, “…dogs were equally likely to be considered members of the household in homes without domestic violence,” (Fielding 197). Homes with violence show that humans substitute human victims for animal victims. Animal rights activists are trying to break down symbolic boundaries betw...
Many people who abuse animals do not realize that they are actually hurting animals, this is known as unintentional. When some people try to discipline their pets they use tactics that they think is acceptable, when in reality is probably not the best way. People also abuse animals due to lack of attention, such as forgetting to feed and water the animals for a number of days. A family may take the animals with them when they leave the house, and forget to leave a window down with the animal inside. One of the biggest unintentional ways of animal cruelty is a way that many people think is helpful but is actually has a negative impact on all of the animals involved, this idea is trying to take in more animals than one can handle, they have good intentions but this is harmful to animals because it forces them to live in unhealthy conditions. There are many new cases of animal hoarding every year, with over 250,000 animals falling victim. Puppy mills are large dog breeding’s that care more about making money than the wellbeing and health of the animals. Many dogs become ill with diseases such as kidney or heart disease as a result of the conditions in which they live.
All in all, emotional pain, physical pain, or the extent of the abuse, is mistreatment towards any animal and should not be tolerated but instead be brought awareness to. It is our job to be the voice for the creatures who cannot speak up for themselves. Followed by the empathy of humans, especially that of children, I believe that by bringing awareness to this social injustice will result in a more thoughtful and compassionate community who will have the power and responsibility to make choices in the best interest of animals. It will give the community a sense of pride to stand up for something so important to society. Finally, the actions that we can take in order to bring about the awareness of animal cruelty will have a significance to ensuring the safety of pets and other animals across the globe.
