Term Paper My internship with Farmers Insurance has been an incredible experience. I have met fantastic, helpful people and gained so much knowledge. I have not only learned about marketing and the insurance industry, but have learned quite a lot about business, as well as better methods to run an office. There are several lessons that I have learned throughout this experience. My progress report went into some key lessons I have learned including; good customer service, different ways to sell and how important marketing is to business success. Below are additional lessons I have learned over the course of my time there. The first key lesson I learned was better time management. During the first week of my internship, I was thrown into a …show more content…
It is a key component with any marketing plan. By repeating a slogan, agent’s name, company name, or message to potential customers, you are increasing the likelihood that they will reach out and call your company with a sincere interest. We have put another marketing plan into place that touches consumers multiple times. First, we target specific neighborhoods and send them a letter with a handwritten note, as well as a client sheet to complete to enter their interests. Next, we distribute door hangers at each home which includes a calendar with Farmers information. A few weeks later we contact the customers who had received our information earlier. Touching consumer’s multiple times in various ways of communication has seemed to pay off for Farmers thus far. We have received more quotes in the months following the initiation of this program, than in the …show more content…
I will also call or email our existing clients who have not yet asked for information, but who may not realize that are able to save money by upgrading or changing their policy. Cold calling is entirely different as I am given a purchased targeted list of prospective customers, who may not be interested in hearing about insurance at all. This part of my job is the least pleasant. Many times people will hang up or cut me off. Many people are annoyed by phone sales people, although now and then I will get a lead for future
Organizations often talk about themselves and their products when marketing to customers. The reality is that prospective customers do not care about you or your product -- they care about themselves. How much time does Budweiser's commercial spend focusing on beer? Absolutely none. Instead, the ad focuses on portraying a heart-warming relationship that every single viewer can connect with. Budweiser makes itself relevant to those watching the commercial simply by creating that experience. So stop focusing your marketing strategy on your company, product, service or yourself. Instead, develop a message that highlights what you are offering means to the targeted customer’s life.
messages are used to draw in the reader and stir up interest in the product.
...e items come from places like CAFO’s. Joel wants to redirect the way farming should be. He believes that his process of “mob-grazing” will help restore the land prosper and continue to be farmed for many years. In the past 15 years small farms have been demolished by the bigger corporations. Smaller farms have a more difficult time accruing certifications and paying expensive fees to sell their products on a bigger scale. The USDA requires many restrictions and guidelines to what, where and how such products needs to be prepared which is time consuming, costly and requires many resources. In this area of Swoope, Virginia there are many small farmers that sell at the local Staunton Farmers Market located in downtown Staunton. Polyface also has a “Metropolitan Buying Club” which allows the products produced by the farm can travel farther for a monthly subscription.
Once the target market has been identified it is important to develop a marketing strategy. In today's fast paced, information overloaded society; conveying a message about a product seems to be more difficult than ever. The consumer is bombarded with advertising everywhere they look. Today advertising not only exists on television, radio, magazines, and newspapers, it can be found on billboards, park benches, in our mailboxes, on buses, taxis, at sporting events, and on clothing.
...ve done the same thing with chicken ranchers and convinced one or two of them to try the product. Their mistake was to think purely in economic terms. They said, "Here's an industry that needs our product because cost savings should automatically be embraced." They lost time.
The next lesson I learned will be particularly useful when I become a manager. That lesson is to make good people want to stay in the company because it betters the company and good people help uphold important ethical standards. Also, in regards to the managerial role, is to reward ethical behavior and punish unethical behavior.
It’s been a long time since the last narrative and a lot has changed. The internship with the dental hygienist failed miserably. After three sessions, my mentor just stopped communicating and cut all ties with me. I attempted to email her multiple times but I remained unheard. So, I had to find a way to troubleshoot and look for another mentor and place to intern at.
⑤ Local farmers suppliers. Local farmers’ benefit are obviously from the ongoing recovery of the purchase price and the sales contract.
I learned how important it is for a company to have a brand and that many customers come from brand loyalty. Without having a brand, it is difficult for advertising campaigns to succeed. The brand sets the tone for the company and this was something I never realized before. I learned that you can not just put things into advertisements without planning first. A company needs to have two steps for successful advertising. The first one is establishing the message that the company wants to get across and then the second step is communicating this message. Another new thing that I learned was that there are multiple positions within a marketing company. I never realized just how many opportunities there were within the one company, either being an account person, or on the management team, there are many different areas to explore within the marketing field.
By following the strategy that I have given, we can monitor the sale of our product. Once we see an increase in revenue, we can increase our advertising campaign to directly penetrate household markets through TV and/or radio. All of these numbers and strategies seem to line up for a successful product.

It 's no secret that traditional marketing practices have declined and consumers are now more skeptical than ever. Brands have had to find ways of connecting with potential customers in a more authentic way.
My internship experience this semester was interesting. I interned at ESH/MESH with Bridgeway. My Supervisor was Emilie Banz. I didn’t do much but I did learn a lot from this experience. I met a lot of great people and watch PsyR in action. I met a couple of individuals who were really cool. My experience this semester has prepared me for the next.
