On Wednesday March 22nd noon, I met with a parent to do a Family Needs Assessment. The Parent has just enrolled her three year old daughter in the Childcare program and before the child started, one of the guardians of the child must be assessed. When the parent came in, I introduced myself as an intern and explained to her what we will be doing. We sat down in the office, and before I started, I asked her is there anything she will like to ask me or is concerned about before I begin. She asked me questions like what are the schedule for her daughter’s class, and which class will she be in. I was able to answer her questions to her satisfaction, and then we were able to proceed with the meeting. During the meeting, when I asked her questions
The Troubled Families Agenda (2012) came about in response to Social need as it is a central concern of the welfare system, introduced by the coalition government. There are various types of need; Baldock (2012) introduced four types of need, these being Felt, Normative, Expressed and Comparative. Firstly, Baldock defined felt needs as what an individual believes they ‘need’ this can often be unrealistic and subjective to what the individual may want instead of need. Secondly normative, this is how an expert or professional identifies a need compared to a set of standards. Moving on to Expressed need, Baldock believed that this was where a felt need became a demand, it does not necessarily imply that people need it but are becoming demanding.
The family I chose to interview is a blended non-traditional family. There is a mother and her 6 kids. The kids come from two different guys that the gal was married to and a boyfriend that she has lived with in the past. The boyfriend still spends some nights with her.
I should learn how to understand and get to know the child. There were two mistakes that I was able to identify thanks to the theory of Therapeutic Alliance. It is not just reading the questions and getting answers to complete the assessment. To begin, I needed to build a trustworthy scenario where children will be able to talk and disclose the information easily. Unfortunately, my settings does not allow me to provide the child a private place where they are able to disclose information that they may feel comfortable to discuss any topic. As well I needed to advice and explore with Maria which is the problem and help her to identify how to approach the issue. Mostly important that Maria thought there was no issue. The book Interpersonal Process in Therapy by Edward Teyber “In keeping with Client Response Specificity it will be more challenging for some cultural groups to engage initially because family structure or culture endorses a more hierarchical teacher-student (therapist-directed) interaction. Age, race, economic class,
I would address Sally the teacher in a private matter and explain and also have her research the program is common guidelines, have sally understand the importance of being a clean person. ““You can help yourself and others stay
The information caused me to feel compassionate towards the intern. However, I realized that the intern was not completing task in a timely fashion, and therefore were not meeting deadlines. Based on the fact that I was aware of the personal conflicts the intern was having I did not report her lack of performance and at time I completed the work she was given. I decided not to report her to my supervisor hoping that there will be some improvement. Towards the end of the week, I realized she was taking advantage because, now I had to be completing both of our assignments. I decided to confront her, and took specific actions such as orientated the intern about the duties she was responsible for and inform her about her the seriousness of the situation. I also infomed her that if her productivity does not increase, I will have to report her to my immediate manager and it may also mean that she will not be able to receive the credits needed from this program in order for her to
It’s been a long time since the last narrative and a lot has changed. The internship with the dental hygienist failed miserably. After three sessions, my mentor just stopped communicating and cut all ties with me. I attempted to email her multiple times but I remained unheard. So, I had to find a way to troubleshoot and look for another mentor and place to intern at.
Family Assessment The Calgary Family Assessment Model (CFAM) is a well-known comprehensive and multidimensional template used by nurses to assess families. CFAM begins by having the nurse visit with the family and gain insight into the family’s functioning at a particular point in time. Interviewing the family allows the nurse to assess and identify potential issues. Furthermore, the CFAM consists of three main assessment categories, known as structural, developmental, and functional. Each of these categories contains several subcategories that allow the nurse to examine all aspects of a family’s functioning.
Torres made a comment to co-workers when the group was having an ice cream social during their break time that she did not want to eat a lot because after work she was meeting a friend. Ms. Torres stated that Ms. Newcomer began asked questions about who she was meeting, where would they be going which made Ms. Torres very uncomfortable. This was witness by another co-worker Stacey Loban and she told Ms. Newcomer that she should not be asking Ms. Torres these questions.
At the same time of this occurrence there were other things that went on pertaining to transference and counter transference. The Intern and I definitely had some type of strong transference and counter transference going on. There was a clash of personalities between the intern and me. We totally did not get along. I felt uneasy and that she did not want me there in the room with her. Why? I thought that maybe she felt challenged. I don’t know, but I felt I asked the patient questions that she forgot to ask. I also gave her my opinion about treatment principle, which I do not think she appreciated. With my previous interns, I was very much part of the intake and treatment process. The interns and I would ask questions. If one forgo...
Patient and Family Centered Care Patient and family centered care (PFCC) is described as a model of care where patients and their family members are considered the source of control, and are full collaborative partners with the healthcare team rather than passive bystanders (Rawson, Kitts & Carlos, 2016). PFCC aims to incorporate patient values, preferences, and needs into the care provided, and aims to ensure equal access and opportunity for quality healthcare (Harper et al., 2015; Rawson et al., 2016). It empowers patients to define “family” and establish how they want both themselves and their family to participate in healthcare decisions (Johnson, 2016).
As I was taking the Family Health Inventory, I was a little nervous about answering some of the questions. Then as I was reading over the questions, most of them did not pertain to me. I was a little disappointed that I had to answer questions about my spouse when I do not have one. I wish that it would have catered the test to the way I answered the questions about marital status. There were so many questions about your spouse. Maybe if the questions were worded differently. I was a little bit Irritated with the word spouse. Maybe if the questions would have the word significate other, I think that sounds better. I also really wish there was a do not apply to my button. This would have made the survey easier for me.
Family is the basic unit of society. A family is a set of interacting individuals related by blood, marriage, cohabitation, or adoption who interdependently perform relevant functions by fulfilling expected roles. Health practices are those activities performed by individuals or families as a whole to promote health and prevent diseases. The relationship between members of family influences the understanding of behavior, which is demonstrated in family’s structural, functional, communicational, and developmental patterns (American Academy of Pediatrics, 2003; Bonell et al., 2003).Within families, children and adults are nurtured and taught about health values by word and by example, and it is within families that members first learn to make choices to promote health (Edelman & Mandle, 2010, p. 172).
Because I was meeting with potential students and their families or emailing parents that Dr. Brown was asking me to talk with about the FlexPath program. I had to get VARK passwords and logins for our new facilitators and get them registered for training so that we will be ready for our VARK students next Tuesday. All the passwords and usernames have to be recorded, I need to get 504 and IEP for all the VARK students and submit them to Virtual Arkansas. I am a worker and never shun my responsibilities, I promise you will never see me just chatting or sitting around. I did not and do not think help with the partial students is or was out of line. Worry not I will get it done. I was working until 7:30 tonight and will continue the late nights until all are completed. BTW, I am still working without a contract, just pointing that out because I am a team player, working for the over all good of our students, which will always be my goal. I do employ you to find anyone that will tell you that I do not pull my own weight and usually help others pull theses, I have extremely high expectation of
4/17 This worker supervised a parent/child visit between Terrance, Tamyia, Tyren, and Terrance. Terrance was ten minutes late. Terrance talked to the children about his new truck and phone. Talk about Easter with the children. Terrence gave
