Explain Why I Want To Be A Member Of Student Senate

1. Why do you want to be a member of Student Senate?
I want to be a member of Student Senate because, while the school is in the right direction, improvements can still be made. As a freshman, I want to be able to represent my peers in a positive way. I recognize the importance of the Student Senate, and will put in my best efforts. Freshmen can get swept under the rug, and I believe I could give them a voice. I want to participate in the bettering of this school, and really try to make a difference. I have the desire to be involved, and make decisions that will benefit the school as a whole. I hope to give students the best high school experience possible, specifically making the freshmen’s first year enjoyable.

as a senator?
Prior to my attendance at Sunny Hills, I was a member of Leadership/ASB for two years. During this time, I was able to gain valuable knowledge on how to be a strong, successful leader. I understand what it takes to lead a student body and represent them. You must possess good communication skills, work well in a team, contribute ideas, and suggest solutions to problems. These are all qualities I now possess through my time in ASB. Furthermore, it gave me actual experience in leading a class to accomplish school activities. I learned how to be efficient, how to stay organized, and how to manage my time. I am comfortable with planning/promoting dances, assemblies, pep rallies, and other school events. To be an effective leader, you must listen to others and take their opinions into consideration. If I was to earn a part in the Student Senate, I would take the time to make sure everyone’s voice was heard. Another skill I possess that could be of value, is my drawing ability. When it comes to publicizing events, I can help with posters and other design aspects. I am fully prepared to be dedicate my time, and commit to making the school the best it can be.
