I believe I have demonstrated the qualities to be a member of the National Honor Society because I want to be able to show people that I am a good citizen, leader and that I have a good judge of character. I am in key club because I have always liked to help around the community, but never got too many chances, with key club I get a lot of opportunities and I love it. I have also worked at the Hocking Hills Diner for the past two years. While working, I do not only run the cash register and seat people but I also make sure things run smoothly. I make sure my servers are doing what they need to and that all the customers are happy. If something is wrong, it is my job to fix it. Being a leader has taught me how to work as a team and make things
tolerable for everyone. I was going to apply for NHS last year, but my GPA was just a little less than a point off. I spent the year getting my GPA up and I am excited to finally get the opportunity. I believe I am the right choice for NHS because it will help me reach my full potential in helping other people.
The National Honor Society is based off of four pillars: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. School is an extremely important part of anyone’s life, and I feel blessed that I have had the opportunity to attend Lutheran schools from Kindergarten until the present. Our Shepherd Lutheran and Lutheran High Northwest have helped me to grow in my faith and to continue to grow academically as well. Attending these schools has also allowed me to participate in many different extra-curricular activities such as Varsity Soccer in my freshman year, Varsity Track my sophomore year, Pit Band for school musicals, Jazz band, and Pep band. This 2009-2010 school year I also have the opportunity to be the First Chair Flute and Piccolo in regular Concert Band and the other band functions which will provide me with an opportunity to gain experience in leadership which will help me in college and in my future career. Service is an important activity to participate in. During the past two years I have helped my mom and the rest of the committee at my church with funeral luncheons. When there is a funeral at my church the family of the deceased has the option of having a luncheon at the church, and if they choose, following the funeral, the committee that my mom is on takes care of getting the food that the family wants, serving the food, and then cleaning up after the luncheon is over. When they need help I also go and help out. Also, my family recently became a Foster family for the Michigan Humane Society. In November of this year, I am going on a mission trip to Madrid, Spain, with my cousin, who is a pastor, and a group from his church, Valley Springs, in Roseville, California. Our main aim is going to be talking to the college students there and trying to plant churches. We are going to be helping them work on their English, and I will get to use my Spanish. I have also had the opportunity to work in the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer nursery which was my first paying job. Every Sunday morning I am in the nursery from 9 until 12, or later if needed, watching peoples children up to four years of age while they attend church.
The National Honors Society is based off of four pillars: Scholarship, Leadership, Character and Service. These are all characteristics a member of the National Honor Society should exhibit. I believe that I possess all of these characteristics and should be given the chance of becoming a NHS member. This has also been a goal of mine since freshman year and would mean a lot to me to be apart of such a prestigious organization.
I would be an excellent choice to be a member of the National Junior Honor Society because I show service, leadership, character, and citizenship. It is an amazing opportunity anyone is lucky to have, and I am more than happy to accept it. I love helping people, being able to feel accomplished knowing I put a smile on someone’s face. Being in the National Junior Honor Society, I’d love to share my ideas and thoughts on how to make the world a better place.
Being a part of National Junior Honor Society would be a great opportunity! There is so much things I could learn about being a leader. Improving your skills as a leader is important, as well improving your skills as a person and that’s what NJHS is all about. Another reason why I should be selected is that I already exceed the requirements, I possess a selection of abilities that would make me useful to the organization. For example, I am experienced with computer publishing programs and able to create posters promoting NJHS.
Being proud of something can have many different meanings to people, but to me, it means to be honored and to be glad that something happened. I am proud about many things in my life but one thing I am extremely proud of is my induction into the NJHS. NJHS stands for National Junior Honor Society.
“Leadership, dreams, scholarships, service, pride and character”, the first words that come to mind when I hear “National Honor Society”. Being chosen for National Honor Society is a great honor, as it has proved that from my childhood till now my hard work has paid off. From the beginning of high school, as a freshman to now a junior, I have always pushed myself to do better, but not better than others, better than myself. I had competition with myself and my past grades, as I emboldened myself to do better than each of my past marking period grades. I heartened myself to get stronger grades, because since the day I found out in freshman year that there was National Honor Society I was determined to get in. The day of my sister’s graduation
Im very good with words and defusing situations. Being a member of the National Honor Society will help me get into a college of my choice. No one in my family has attended college and my goal is to be the first one. NHS will have me be seen as a leader and a person who is serious about their future. To be in the National Junior Honor Society, one must have good citizenship and character. I seek to be a part of this society because it is a great honor and shows not only to others, but also to myself, how hard I have worked throughout my years at Northvale Public School. I take part in school activities and have helped my teachers, so that my classmates and myself can have a better learning experience. During Brain Busters meets, there are times that I am in charge of the group I am in and although it is a lot of responsibility, I know that my team depends on me to help them.
I am honored to be among the students who are being considered for the National Honor Society. I believe that I deserve this honor and this chance because I have worked very hard to get here. In addition, I would be very enthusiastic about gaining new experience in leadership, community activities, and co-curricular activities. When I was a part of the National Junior Honor Society I accepted as many opportunities as I could; I participated in activities such as: spray painting recycling trash cans, painting recycling boxes, sorting paper after school, and ringing the bell at Christmas time for the Salvation Army while singing Christmas carols. Furthermore, I should be a National Honor Society member because I make the right choices in everyday life. Many students all over the country make the choice to use drugs, alcohol, or tobacco, but I can honestly say that I do not use any of these substances. Not only are these a danger to personal health, but they are a danger to the health of the people around them, and every person making the choice to stay away from these substances keeps the society a little safer and a little healthier.
Being inducted into the National Honors Society is what I have been waiting for. Becoming a member is nothing more than a dream come true, and I appreciate it greatly.
