The ethics can be diverse depending on the business. But the ethics not only applies to the way the business interacts with the world at large but also the way they interact with the single individuals, such as the customers. The nature of the business ethics has no consensus. In fact there is a great disparity of opinions for business and the society. Many corporation or the businesses feel that they have sufficient grounds to reject business ethics. For example: “Ethics and business do not mix – business is technical, not an ethical.” – Ullman. CSR is the process by which business negotiate their roles in the society where as ethics refers to the study of morally appropriate behaviors and decisions, for example; examining what “should be done.” Although CSR and ethics are linked together in most of the organizations, but there is no guarantee that the CSR activities would be ethical in nature. This paper will first look at the need for such measures and present the current standards employed at companies. The company has a slogan – “Leading a hand to man’s best friend: Pedigree.” Pedigree dog food built its brand by focusing on the need for people to adopt homeless dogs. The company is funding for the support and care of these animals and sponsoring a national adoption drive, Pedigree 's 2009 goal was to distribute $1.5 million in grants to 1,000 shelters and breed rescues. Pedigree donates a bowl of food to animal shelters every time it gets a Facebook fan, and it did the same when the company 's 2009 Super Bowl commercial was viewed online. Pedigree 's goal is to donate 4 million bowls of dog food, enough to feed every shelter dog in America for one day. There are many other companies that are following such trends as a part of their social responsibility towards the society. But every company has different experience, some have positive and some have negative view with respect to the CSR and business ethics.
