Currently I'm gaining my knowledge at Texas A&M University in San Antonio and have deemed a wonderful experience in and out of campus. It has felt like a home since the beginning specially coming from a far away city where it distinguishes itself through cultures. The staff and professors have contributed to a well guided path to success inside the classroom in my first semester of college. Not to mention, the everyday environment has evolved from day one to the present. From going through stressful experiences to experiencing snow for the very first time. In addition, I've experienced the evolvement of creating new colleague's in a diverse city. It was a thrilling experience to encounter people from different cultures and race because it opens …show more content…
Edwards is located in a provincial city which is my main reason on why I choose to apply to this school. I really enjoy every experience I've had in Austin and I can't seem to find anything that would ruin it. I admire it's friendliness and it's good food on the streets full with people walking around. My current university is isolated from the city and is far away from it. St. Edwards is located on South Congress Ave which is an area I always enjoy and visit. I'm also fascinated with the idea of walking through streets to enjoy different locations such as Austin's active downtown. In my city, downtown was only active during the day and was made up of wholesale stores, nothing like your ideal downtown. In addition, the Capital of Texas is interesting to have around your city especially to a profession such as mine because it helps me keep up to date in the current process in politics. After all, Texas is a leading state in reforming new ideas in our government and opportunities to influence our government could increase. It is the experience through the journey from small city to large city that have influenced me in choosing St. Edwards as a prior decision. The knowledge I gained at Texas A&M University San Antonio drove me to admire greater ideas and to expand my
Texas A&M University and the University of Texas have been rivals for over 90 years. Every year Texas A&M held an annual bonfire tradition which attracts thousands of people. It is a tradition for Texas A& M to build a huge bonfire right before the game against rivals with University of Texas. Students would spend several weeks building the bonfire. On November 18, 1999 the stack of logs collapsed over and killed 12 A&M students. The aggie bonfire tradition would never again be the same.
The schools are great, and one of the many factors that people relocating to the area can take advantage
Most African-Americans agree that they have much to gain by earning a college degree. Most will also agree that this task is much easier said than done. Unfortunately, many African-Americans find that disparities in higher education eclipse their expectations of equal educational opportunity. For many, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) are a great solution. Since the founding of Cheyney University in 1837, HBCUs have continually been established to give African-Americans an education as they could not attend other institutions due to segregation laws. HBCUs became more widespread in the 1960s with twenty-seven institutions being established, twenty-four of which still exist today among the 105 institutions. HBCUs play an important role in the education of African-Americans compared to other colleges and universities. They historically provided a way for African-Americans to receive an education that Predominantly White Institutions (PWIs) did not allow, they offer an inclusive environment that fosters better academic and social adjustment, and their open admissions policy along with efforts to enhance retention rates gives African-American students from disadvantaged backgrounds the opportunity for success.
I will definitely enjoy the independence of campus life. The camaraderie, which will develop, should only add to the college experience. The courses will be challenging but I am willing to do what it takes to achieve my ultimate goal, which was alluded to earlier. The untapped potential is there. I would like to be given the opportunity to show what I can accomplish.
My first two weeks on campus were great. When I first walked on to the campus, it felt very foreign like I was in another country. I didn’t feel connected yet and still felt like a visitor. Most of the time I didn’t know exactly where I was going and of course, I didn’t want to look like a freshman. Eventually, I did find where I was going, after going to Cajun connection.
Many people consider the University of Texas to be the very sustaining force of the city of Austin, and they would be correct. The University of Texas receives government funding and attracts students and employers from all around the world to it for the promise of a great education (or in the case of the latter, employees that have just received a great education). This neighborhood is best lived in if you appreciate a great party
When I attend Arizona State University, I plan to acquire a degree in applied biological sciences with a secondary in teaching. Then, I hope to become a teacher at the high school level in order to help further the knowledge of the students. To move towards my goal, I am not only enrolled in many science-centered classes, but I am also working to perfect my public speaking. It is an integral part of teaching to be able to stand in front of students and lecture, and that can only be done with expert syntax and diction. In the future, I see myself as a teacher who makes a difference not only in the education of students, but also as a leader for the students to look up to and relate to.
What jumps to my mind the most about Macalester College is the Mission Statement. Coming from Gaza Strip and traveling to the US as an exchange student for one year made me highly interested in cultures and diversity. Mac is greatly centered around multiculturalism and internationalism, which is exactly what I'm looking for. During my exchange year, beside growing up as a person, I have made so many friends from all over the world and I have learned so much about their cultures. Mac has such a diverse student body and with all the organizations and clubs that connect these students together, it becomes a better place for me to continue my path of learning about these cultures and make more friends. Not forgetting the strong academics that Mac offers, which will qualify me to be an erudite person to make a change in the world.
At Rutgers University I will be a full time student and participate in numerous clubs and groups relevant to my field of education. Over the summer, I volunteered to help out my friends fraternity (Phi Psi) with different events. The welcoming I received from my friends fraternity brothers felt like I was part of the fraternity myself. Everyone was approachable and treated me like I was family which made me feel like a Scarlet Knight. This astonished me because even though I wasn't attending Rutgers University I still felt like I was expanding and diversifying my network. The educational freedom, student body, and campus life at Rutgers University will help me to excel in my personal life as well as in my field of study. Being a transfer student from Mercer County Community College while having completed 60+ credits already puts me ahead of both of my parents academically, whom never had the freedom to go to college like I did. Being the first one in my family to attend college can definitely feel nerve wracking but it is also undoubtedly the main reason why I push myself to achieve greatness. I think that everyone living in our era in time has the contingency and convenience to go out and pursue
Some might say you can’t make a living with your nose stuck in a book, however being a book critic is the perfect job for book lovers who want to delve deeper into the meaning of a story and share their findings. Of course one can not gain the skills needed to be a book critic overnight. Three universities, Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU), University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), and University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin), based on the criterias of the distance from one’s home, the majors they offer, and their admission requirements, are to be discussed in this essay, The University of Texas at San Antonio has been given special attention for it has reached all of the criteria for the author of this essay and so has been deemed
I’m a student at Tompkins Cortland Community College this is my first semester as a college student. I plan to go to college for four years and only be at TC3 for this one semester, then transfer to a four year school. College has grown around the world more than ever and more people are attending college more than ever. I have chosen to go to college because of the rewards after graduation. Yes it is another four years of school but by getting more education and an extended degree gives me more opportunities for better jobs and more money. The career I have chosen to study is business administration. I am hoping that it takes me to a great job managing a company or possibly being an accountant.
I am writing to express my sincere interest in the “Class of 1982 MHSA Scholarship”. As a first year Master of Health Services Administration (MHSA) international student, garnering financial assistance would aid in reducing my financial need to cover tuition and allow me to focus on my studies. I meet the application requirements of collaborative leadership, spirit of camaraderie, and financial need. Additionally, as I am currently in my first semester I propose my undergraduate grade point average (G.P.A) of 3.5 as a biology major and chemistry minor. I believe my G.P.A speaks to my work ethic and projected success in the program.
One of my core beliefs and values as a person is that much of the learning we do as people comes from being pushed out of out comfort zones. The best way to grow is to test the limits of what we’ve grown accustomed to, and undoubtedly you experience this when you travel and live outside of the country. For most of my Freshman year, college itself has been where I have been doing a lot of growing. I moved away from home, all the way across the country, experienced culture shock, and took classes I would have previously shied away from. However, now that I am closing in on the end of Spring Quarter, I am looking for new ways to expand my worldview now that UW feels like home. I am ready to do more growing.
I attended the in class lecture on October 18 over Texas A&M’s library resources and services. The lecture was presented by Daniel Xiao and reviewed the many applications of the university libraries.
My time here at UCF has not been long but for the small amount of time that I’ve been here I could say that I love it. I mostly enjoy the independence that college gives students, it’s a nice feeling doing things on your own. Although I am thoroughly enjoying UCF I would have to say that my biggest challenge is wake up so early for my 8am classes. Back in high school my mother would wake me up in the morning but now I have to wake myself up and drive or walk by myself to class. Although it’s hard I’m still doing it and that’s not enough to make me give up. On the other hand there is a lot that UCF has to offer that I’m looking forward to such as joining clubs, homecoming week, football games, and just taking advantage of everything this university
