One of my core beliefs and values as a person is that much of the learning we do as people comes from being pushed out of out comfort zones. The best way to grow is to test the limits of what we’ve grown accustomed to, and undoubtedly you experience this when you travel and live outside of the country. For most of my Freshman year, college itself has been where I have been doing a lot of growing. I moved away from home, all the way across the country, experienced culture shock, and took classes I would have previously shied away from. However, now that I am closing in on the end of Spring Quarter, I am looking for new ways to expand my worldview now that UW feels like home. I am ready to do more growing. Academically, I am interested in pursuing
The religion of Islam dates back to the 7th century CE and the life of its founder, Muhammad of Mecca, in Saudi Arabia. Islam is an Arabic word meaning: making something safe and secure, making something sound and whole, entering into peace and tranquility, and surrendering to something other than oneself. A follower of Islam is called a Muslim. In the religion of Islam, it requires the belief in certain core tenets, which include the articles of faith and the five pillars of worship. Leaders do not just appear out of thin air and automatically start making great things happen in the world. A leader must learn from prior leaders or role models that they are surrounded by that they look up to. Not everyone can be a leader, only some people have the correct characteristics it takes to lead others in the right direction. Those who do great things, for example volunteering at a homeless shelter, are not leaders. Many people mistake a “great person” as being a leader, which is completely incorrect (Kouzes and Posner, p. 3). While playing an active role in your community is a positive thing it does not make someone a leader of that community. All leaders have a group of people they have inspiration too and that is a good way of determining who your personal leaders are. My mother, brother, and grandfather are my leaders because I have always looked up to them and tried to mimic some of the great things that I have seen them do. My mother has always been an independent women with goals and an action plan to accomplish those set goals. Stephen, my elder brother, is outgoing and tends to have a leveled head when it comes to evaluating stressful situations. My grandfather is the most caring person I know and he is amazing at keeping situations under control in order to please everyone. These are all the qualities I want to combine into my own leadership style. I know I am not a efficient leader of these actions yet, but I plan on growing into this as I more on into my career, fulfill my set goals, and adjust to the curve-balls that life throws at me.
Though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials” (). Although, God Has promised to fulfill one’s needs such trials play along with fear, concern and stress. And for every promise God preconditions His believers trusting Him; nonetheless, believers tend to be skeptical. While, many non-believers wonder why a loving God punishes, preacher Melvin Estrada maintains that God does not punish but disciplines. Many times God tests one to make him and/or her grow spiritually and prove one’s faith genuine; consequently, the testing or trials one encounters come in several ways. One’s faith examination may occur through cancer, financial difficulties, family, spiritual area, a death of a loved one, or even rejection. Such trials may be obstacles blocking from having a relationship with God; nevertheless, God does not test beyond one’s abilities.

When attaining a college degree, many of the obstacles and events people experience help them develop a wider perspective of the world and discover different ways to solve emerging problems. My personal values have been changing the course of my life. A value is something that a person considers to be important to themselves. Life is full of mysteries. From childhood, people became curious of things that surround them. Humans experience pain and pleasure through the senses. However the environment plays a major cause of everyone’s behaviors. When people grow older, they become curious. They start asking questions such as; where did we come from and why we are here? To help us understand these questions better, we should first find who we are. For this reason, it is essential to define our belief system and identify our current values to help us understand ourselves better. A belief system is the essential elements that shaped our set of values for which we base everything we do.
This is on the prayer cards of both my grandfather and grandmother. This is the main reason why I believe there is an afterlife. The words in bold above, are the ones that mean the most to me. I know that my grandparents are watching over me with much pride and I believe that even though I cannot kiss them or hug them like I used to, they live their life in my heart. Now when I reflect on the basis as to why I need an afterlife, it is not that I am afraid of dying and living in a box, it is quite the opposite. I want to be able to see my nonna (grandma) and express how sorry I am. My nonna died of Alzheimer’s disease and ever since she passed, I carry an endless burden that weighs on my heart. I stopped visiting her once she no longer
The main goal in life is to live by our beliefs and our values. These beliefs and values define who we are as a person and create how we behave towards others (Wright, 1). These beliefs and values can be defined as our personal core values. My personal core values include family, trust, honesty, friendship, and creativity, which define who I am, change from past to present, and could change again.
When I was young, I wanted to have a successful career and stable life. I believed my life would be packed a bright future because my parents gave me lots of love and warm atmosphere at home. Now, I became a mother and I have tried to give my daughter same as my parents did. I knew that how much they sacrificed their life for me because I am doing. Sometime, I am living just mother or daughter. I lost my goal of my life and I forgot who am I. This paper is about me and who I am.
For each of the projects I have tried to ask myself what is the one thing I want to gain. Each assignment has given me a chance to reflect on a different part of myself. I am glad that I choose to workout and adjust my diet for my ICP because that is something that I tried to commit to in the past. I think it was helpful for me to make a gradual plan because I could hold myself accountable but also adjust the plan so it suited my schedule. I am so glad I took the time and made the effort to work on these goals because I was able see physical results and change my attitude about the gym.
As I reflect on my childhood, my mind is flooded with pleasant thoughts. I have been fortunate to have many more wonderful memories than unhappy ones. I attribute the joy in my life to my strong faith in God. Faith has been an essential facet of my life and I find the longer I live, the more deeply I am rooted in my relationship with the Lord.
A teacher plays a very important role in a child’s life, and that is the main reason I want to be a teacher. I want to be able to inspire, empower and help children to discover their unique learning ability, special interests and qualities. As a teacher I will be able to give students the gift of an education, which will help them advance as adults. I feel that there are many ways to go about teaching and managing a positive learning environment. I want to have a classroom in which students feel personally altered by their experience in my classroom. Progressivism is one major philosophical approach that I plan to use in my classroom, along with an assertive discipline approach.
