Music is not just any sounds I hear, but it is vocal or instrumental sounds that is enjoyable to one’s ear. These sounds are combined to make music which has rhythm and harmony. In physics, music is sound and sound is produced by the vibrations of a medium and the different pitches are combined to make chords.
Music plays a great role in society. Depending on the generation, music was used to preserve culture and traditions by passing them onto the next generation. It was also used as a way to spread news between slaves in the 1700s. Music has been used as a way to express yourself. I listen to a variety of music. From Jazz to K-Pop, I listen to music on a daily basis. I do not listen to a lot of folk music such as country or church music, but I do listen to popular and art music such as pop, dubstep, classical, and a bit of rap. …show more content…

K-Pop is a recent genre that I have become interested in. Even though I do not know what the artist are singing, I can feel their emotions through the music. Anytime I have free time, I get on Spotify and listen to K-Pop. When I got my Eagle Scout award, I played a lot of upbeat classical jazz and pop music. When I got a bad score on my Calculus test and when my grandmother passed away, I played a lot of slow tempo K-Pop songs. I feel that music is directly tied to my feelings as I tend to play music that fits my mood at that time.
In my opinion, music is very important to a child’s education. Whether it is choir or band, music makes people smarter. Being able to read the notes, finger the right notes, read the crescendos and decrescendos, and remembering the time signature, are reasons why children involved in music tend to be smarter and this is will help them in other categories such as math, science, and reading. Having an active brain will help kids in their future
