The smell of the sterilization processes that were happening wafted through the air. The cries of the children in need of medical attention still ring in my ears to this day. All of this enticed me from the first moment I experienced it. Whether it was vigorously flipping through pages in a textbook or captured by a broadcasting of reality medical television shows, my mind has always been enticed by health care. After completing high school, I have some grand ideas planned for my schooling and future career. As I have gone through my schooling at MOC-Floyd Valley High School, I have come to the realization that I want to pursue a career in the medical field. With the hustle and bustle in an emergency room, or the child with a cold, I want to be there to assist in any situation. This is along the lines of natural sciences that this scholarship outlines. To be in specific, I plan to major in nursing, and possibly have minor in psychology. I have always had an interest in human anatomy and physiology for as long as I can remember. Because of this, the career of being a nurse has become very appealing to me. Also, I had a younger brother who was born with a cleft lip and pallet. I have been able to maintain my 4.0 GPA through my four years of high school. Sitting on my couch cuddled up with a textbook is a nightly occurrence. Our school allows students to obtain academic pins each year during the spring, and for the past three years, I have been able to acquire and have a firm grasp on this pin. Another high distinguished program we have at our school is our National Honor Society Program. I was admitted into this program as a junior, which is the earliest our school allows.
