Eating out definitely has its benefits, but is it really benefiting you? Of course we all have occasions when we are invited to eat out whether it is for dinner with friends, a date or celebrating a special event with family at a restaurant. These are all fun and enjoyable stuff you can do when you eat out, but you can have these same events and stay in. Eating in has its own benefits, maybe even more than you think.
When eating out, the restaurants presents you with a menu with an endless list of choices of food. The varieties range from appetizers, sides, entrees and desserts. You have a larger variety in the menu than you usually have in your pantry without planning. You also have an option of trying new things. It is harder to try new things when eating in because you have to go through the process of trying to discover the proper way to make something new. With new dishes it might take more than one try to make the meal the way it is meant to be. It is also great way to discover different environments. Eating out is overall shorter process than planning a dinner at home. With the trip to the store, gathering the ingredients and eating in it is more time consuming if you don’t have the time. There are some fast foods places that offer a dollar menu that you can benefit if you choose items that satisfy your cravings. At a restaurant you just show up and tell them what you want to eat and you don’t have to put any effort or deal with the aftermath of dishes. The hardest part about eating in is knowing how to cook. It does take some type of skill to do certain techniques when cooking. Cooking is not a skill everyone knows but once you learn how to do simple tasks it grows on

Throughout the years, fast food is becoming more and more of an outlet for many people that are short on change, in a rush but still need to grab a bite to eat, or even who are just too lazy to cook a meal. Fast food is very cheap, yet when we eat it we don’t necessarily realize the price we pay when we are starting to gain weight. Who is to blame? The person that is addicted to fast food, or the fast food restaurants? I agree fast food is cheap, yet delicious. I understand that it may get addicting, I do not believe that it is the restaurants fault for your lack of self-control. Eating fast food all the time can put you up against some major health risks. I enter an exquisite room welcomed by a benevolent host. I glance around and see dining tables strategically set as if the queen were to be expected. White flowers with silver sparkles adorn the tables to add a final touch. The lights are dimmed low and classical music plays in the background to create a placid atmosphere. A savory aroma fills the room making me crave the chef’s fine platter. The host leads my party to a table and offers us drinks. As we wait for dinner to begin, murmurs fill the room with general conversation.

In the food service, we find: bartenders, wait staff, hosts, busboys, chefs, cooks, managers, and dishwashers .The food service workers perform a variety of customer service, food preparation and cleaning tasks, all that which are very important to keep a business running. More concerning , some of the major working conditions that foodservice workers face with daily is no health benefits and significantly low wages. These employees working in the food industry make it possible for millions of people to enjoy food in restaurants but are not being treated or appreciated fairly.
Previously to taking this class, I had never given much thought to my eating habits. I always thought of the way I chose to eat as one of those things I didn’t need to concern myself with too heavily now because I’m a young broke college student. The way I eat is pretty similar to the way most of my friends eat and when you live away from home, that seems like the norm for people in college. However, after applying what I’ve learned in this class to my life, I’ve realized that the dietary choices I make now affect not only my current health, but my future health as well. So overall, I would say that my eating habits are pretty bad, but I’m working on making them better.
