I want to be a pharmacist because pharmacists can share their knowledge in medicine to help patients in treating symptoms and stabilizing pre-existing medical conditions. My immediate goals are to take a more active role in the pharmaceutical profession through club involvement and volunteer opportunities. The Association of Pre-Pharmacy Learners & Educators (APPLE) Club focuses on providing resources and assistance to students interested in attending pharmacy school. As Vice President of the club, I coordinated with the president to ask local Pharmacy schools such as Keck Graduate Institute in Claremont, California and Western University in Pomona, California to give talks at the club meetings. These talks gave our members an idea of the dedication, excellence and focus expected from students of pharmacy. The speakers gave us insight on various areas pharmacists can work and important advice on applying to pharmacy schools. As vice president, I also assist other officers with their responsibilities such as organizing fundraisers, taking down meeting minutes, and making flyers for the club. I 've acquired a great amount of patience in regards to communicating with hostile individuals in my five years of customer service experience. I address starving guests who wait up to two hours to be sat on a regular basis. These customers are similar to patients who are often in pain but still have to wait for their medication. The patience I have developed will help me look past the hostility and sympathize with the patients who are in pain. Another valuable skill I 've developed is how to work in a team efficiently. The restaurant environment relies heavily on the cooperation of the workers to maintain a smooth workflow. The host strategically seats the guests to maximize capacity and alerts the servers on arriving or finishing tables. The servers tend to the guests and makes sure their food is on the way to cut down waiting time for arriving guests. The busboys help the servers and prepare the tables for incoming guests. Without the hosts, the seating will not be used to its maximum capacity. Without the servers or busboys, the guest will not be tended to which will result in longer wait time. The arriving guests will become impatient and the restaurant will be in chaos. These roles in the restaurant are similar to those in healthcare. Wanting the program or job for the money sounds shallow, but let's be honest we all work to make money , whether for food, clothing or our families and this money would help me use it for these things and for the foundation so I can help homeless people and children. The hostess at all restaurants is responsible for sitting the customers and tries to have them situated at the earliest opportunity. At the point the customers are seated, they are then greeted by their server, who introduces him/herself at that time. Instead, the career should be about saving and improving human lives and serving the public. Pharmacists keep people healthy, make them feel better, and try to help the public live longer and happier lives as long as possible. Each employee is a small cog that is still necessary for the restaurant to run effectively. One minor problem could escalate into a major disaster, because of this reason it is important to be able to communicate with others in order to get the job done. Creating new food is my favorite part of the job. It creates a new challenge, from choosing the right ingredients to perfecting the final product, while keeping things from getting stale. For me, one of the best feelings while being in the kitchen is for someone to ask for a special dish that I have made before.
When entering a restaurant, I usually expect to leave full, satisfied, and wanting to come back again. I believe that many people expect the same thing. The way people react to service can be very different from person to person. Depending on the way the customers are feeling, or the way that the server is feeling can be a big factor for the way service comes across. Service is an important part of everyone’s lives because majority of the jobs that people preform are service related. Poor service is an unfortunate part of life that everyone comes across. The way that I react to the poor service I receive is important and can change in the blink of an eye. Whether I react in an outspoken way, by getting loud and voicing my opinion. In the food industry you have to be nice to everyone. Which is equally important, sometimes it’s just hard to be kind every waking second, but everyone should be. Being forced to be kind the majority of the time helps people learn that they should do this more often.
