I really don't know how to start this, but going to your school, with its esteemed name that is heard everywhere in the school that I go to currently, seems a little like a dream. I'm trying not to be too corny, its not really working. Aside from my academics, i do draw, sing, play a little piano and drums and enjoy writing songs and stories. When my dad impregnated my mom, he had to run away with no help from either sides of their families. They had no help at all. They had to struggled through most of their life together. Even before they were together neither of them were rich and lived in Guyana in slumed out areas. Then again thats how the majority of Guyana looked. They use to feed my brother sugar and water when they had no milk. …show more content…
Even though as a parent its your instinct to give your child whatever they wanted that was not the case here. When I got a little older I remembered that at times we would have no groceries or anything to eat. We would have to scrape up money from anywhere in our house and use it. It must have been so embarrassing to pay with old coins with mold on it. My parents and my brother learned to be thankful and grateful for what they had. Even though I wasn't there to experience it my mother told me everything and I was raised to respect and appreciate everything that was given to me. I thank my parents for teaching me this. For showing me that I shouldn't be spoiled and get everything I ask for because their are others that don't have. Growing up like that has made me realize the value of money and its not to be wasted. Even though my dad struggled he didn't want my mom to work he saw it as her needing to grow us up and plus he didn't have enough for a babysitter for all 3 of us. My mom said my brother and my dad lived in Far Rock Away and Brooklyn in a crumby, small, cramped apartment. My dad got my grandfather house after he repaired everything with him. This is the …show more content…
Because of these experience my family knows what It like to be in a constant struggle and what it is to be so deep into something with no one to help you out. It can feel as though you in it alone and you have no where to go and its a dead end. They created this to find and help homeless, poor and struggling people. I was grown up with the desire of helping people and I'm so grateful for it. In 2012 and 2011 on Dec 25, Christmas day, the members of the organization and I all helped to feed homeless people who don't really have anything to eat or drink. Feeding about 100 each year. Giving hot food, hot beverages and Christmas gifts so they know someone out their cares. A gift will make their Christmas worth while. I do want to do this for the rest of my life and I'm
In Junot Diaz’s essay “The Money” he explains where his family stands economically. Stating that his father was regularly being fired from his forklifting jobs and his mother 's only job was to care for him and his four siblings. With the money brought home by his father, his mom would save some. Her reason was to raise enough to send to her parents back in the Dominican Republic. When his family went on a vacation, they came back to an unpleasant surprise; their house had been broke into. Eventually Diaz was able to get back their money and belongings. Diaz returned the money to his mother although she didn’t thank him for it, this disappointed him. Like Diaz I have also encountered a similar situation where I was disappointed. When I was in second grade, my life life took a completely different turn. My dad took an unexpected trip to Guatemala, on his return, the outcome was not what I expected.

Many people rush through their daily life without contemplating their actions, thereby missing vast opportunities for achievement. They waste valuable time engaging in frivolous matters instead of putting their energies towards more productive and meaningful purposes. In the words of the Dalai Lama: “Life is not about acquiring money and other facilities; it is about dedicating your life to helping others as much as you can.” The immeasurable value of helping others has been engrained in me since childhood. As a result of my own difficult family circumstances, I have become more sensitive, kind and mindful towards others and their own situations. I have developed a passion for helping others, which, in combination with a proclivity towards medicine has lead to my descion to become a Physician Assistant. I want to live a life where I can provide healthcare and aid to anyone who needs.
I have always grown up around the influence of hard work. My mother and father’s life together began off to a rough start. My mother got pregnant at the age of 20 with my brother. Her family was not very supportive of it; therefore, she was on her own. She used to tell me about how she would sit and cry in a one bedroom apartment that she lived in with my brother wondering what she was going to do. Although she had to grow up faster than she
There are a lot of reasons why I chose to pursue pharmacy as my career and they all point to the most important reason: pharmacy is a great fit for my life and is something I have become increasingly passionate about. It started when I was researching careers with my parents and my dad suggested pharmacy and, simply put, it sparked my interest because at the time it was one of the few things I thought I would not hate doing. A healthcare career has always been where I put myself in the future, mainly because most of my family members are in the healthcare field. However, I have never been one that could directly help the wounded or deal with anything gory, but am very intrigued by the growing science of pharmacy. As I continue exploring pharmacy, the more I enjoy learning about it and feel like I could excel in this career.
“It always seems impossible until it’s done”. This quote from Nelson Mandela comes to mind when describing why I aspire to become a Physician Assistant. It has always been a great motivation and inspired me not to get discouraged with failure; rather look forward for your goals. Frequently, it takes many trials and lack of success as well as achievements, for one to truthfully discover him/herself. I instinctively progressed through the motions of life. Many options were available and choosing a career as I grew up kept altering, until one day when I saw how helping other people is my sole purpose of life. Getting to know more of physician assistant drove me into the thoughts of pursuing it as a career.
financially, due to my father falling ill and as a kid I didn’t understand finances or the struggles
Most people that are striving to enter into any part of the medical field do so for the love and compassion for others. Wanting to help others, especially in a time of need and also being able to work with others who share the same interests and goals. In general, being able to have a career in doing what they love and believe in, but for me there is so much more than that. At first glance I probably seem quite similar to any of the other applicants that are probably well deserving in their own rights; although I have a unique background all my own that tells a story of why I am here, seeking opportunity.
It’s been my desire, longing for a nursing career since I was in my primary and secondary school. At the age of 12, I began to look after children and baby-sitting then, from there, I gained the understanding of how to deal with children. Nursing is one of the highly demanding careers that bring new challenges every day and it comes with various rewards and a real sense of job satisfaction. I chose nursing because it is a profession where you never really finish learning. It has been my dream job since my tender age. Seeing nurses visiting my school treating students, immunisation, teaching us about health and sexual health issues, this encouraged me. My goal and desire at that age have been to help people within the Health sector. That is how; I decided to go to college where I am currently doing my Access to Higher Education Diploma (Science), which involves Biology and Chemistry. I chose this pathway because I want to gain the relevant skills and knowledge of my career to be. As someone who wants to become a nurse, I found biology as an important role in the delivery of client car...
That's a false statement, not once have I had something handed to me. When I was about 15 and younger my mom and dad did give me everything I owned, but as I got older my mom simply stopped doing things for me and I don't even see my dad as much. I know plenty of kids who parents are rich and don't do a single thing for their child. They make them get a job and earn their money. I also know a lot of people who parents can't even afford to buy their children's needs. I know people that been in a foster home all their life without no one to tell them how to things, so they went out and earned their own money since the age of 14. I'm not saying all money is good money, but they still went out on the streets by themselves and learned how to get their own money without no help. A lot people can't do that especially at the age of 14, I know I couldn't.
In my post secondary studies, many people are interested in what I want to do after I graduate and where I want to go in life. It is far rarer to have people ask the question of why. Why do I want to pursue a career in the medical field? Why do I want to spend my life helping people? Why do I want to attend the nursing program at Clarkson? My answer to the big question of why is not a simple one-faceted answer. I want to be a nurse for a myriad of reasons. In this reflection, I will touch on my long-lasting love for a career in medicine, my experience in school that solidified my desire to become a nurse, and the path that led me to apply to Clarkson College.
Growing up my mom and dad always showed us unconditional love. They shaped us to learn the right from the wrong and the importance of education. They related the troubles we experienced in America theirs in South America and how education primarily is the root to being successful in America. My dad would always say “we never had the opportunities you all have in America so don’t let it slip away”. Besides education, they taught us that money is easier spent then earned so to value a dollar. The upbringing in life that they had was very hard living and all the struggles they experience moving to a new country just to provide a better living environment for their kids. In their country beating your kids was known to put way word kids straight. My brother and I can contest to those beating but it made us into good kids. We didn’t give into the peer pressure of other kids in school and we learned to walk away from trouble instead of fighting. Don’t get me wrong, we weren’t angels but we stayed out of the ways of trouble. I commend my parents for the person I’ve become and the independence they instilled in my life today. I’ve used the knowledge to shape the person I want to be and some day the mother I want to be for my kids. My parents brought me up with the foundation of kindness, humbleness, and understand with a strong spiritual Christian background. Their parenting styles
Our parents work hard to get us where we are today. Due to the fact that my parents had lack of education and there English wasn 't that good they wasn’t able to get a job that was more relaxing. Though they work in company only they were able to earn enough to raise all of us. Through nurture, now that I’m older I don’t exactly see all the struggles that my parent had gone through to raise me, but I do see and understand more about the struggles. Their love for us, nothing can compare to it. Seeing what my parents had gone through and how hard they have work inspired me to work hard, go to school get a good job so in the future they can depend on me and just rest.
Pharmacists have very important roles in healthcare from all angles. Physicians and licensed practitioners that write a written prescription, the pharmacist reviews patient history, health conditions, and interactions with the new medication prescribed. As a pharmacy technician (for six years) I had a somewhat of an overview on what they accomplished in a shift but did not know everything on what I know now from this research. Pharmacy students that are in the process to obtain their doctor of pharmacy (D.Pharm.) go through a series of training, education and internship to become a well-rounded pharmacist.
Had it not been for them I would have missed out on very valuable lessons. My parents raised my brother and sister and I while managing a shoestring budget. It wasn 't easy but they made it work because they had no choice but to. Although it 's not the most comfortable way to live it taught me about the importance of unnecessary spending. I as a child never knew exactly how broke we were because i always had everything i needed. When i needed clothes or
