During the course of the years English has never been my favorite subject nor my strongest. Last year, I had Ms.Ahn for AP English Lang. Most of we did was analyzing text, writing rhetorical essays, and persuasive essays. Most of the readings were either stories with something we touched greatly on was prejudice.
Things I’ve benefited a lot is working with others during vocab time as well as discussing with the class of what a book was about or what is the meaning of certain metaphors that the authors use such as the green light from Gatsby. Hands on Activities help my learning process and so do lectures even tho they might be tedious to some.

My experience an educational assistant has been both challenging and rewarding. For example, Some students were certainly challenging to work with as they gave off a hue of discomfort and disinterest. During one class period, I was tasked with helping a student finish his Algebra assignment that required him to solve for variables on a worksheet. The student did not understand the assignment and was clearly reluctant to complete it, despite already being late to turn it in. I was able to demonstrate patience by spending two whole block periods with the student while working on the assignment until he was able to grasp the concepts being taught. During this experience, I tried not to appear demanding or frustrated since I knew this would only discourage the student from trying. Instead, I
Students learn if they can work in large groups or if they work better individually. They also learn what kind of learner they are when it comes to taking in information given to them by the teacher. Not every student is the same, and they learn that is it okay to be different and to be proud of the person they are. Students learn how to deal with conflicts and resolve the matter in a calm fashion.
I have had to reteach myself the parts of speech to be able to help them. I feel like I am learning right along with them. I also checked out the textbook they are using in Mrs. Sottoriva’s class so I am able to read the stories and be more engaged in the classroom discussions. When I first went to Baker, English was hard and I was terrible at it. I’m still bad at English. I had a bad grade and standing in front of the class or even just thinking that I was going to be called on to speak made me shake. Through the years I got better, in sixth and seventh grade I ended with a D or E, but now I currently have a C in hopes of keeping it till the end of the year. In my opinion, I am not a good writer, but I can think of good stories if I’m not rushed though I am bad at trying to put a comma in the right place. For me the places in need for improvement are in the usual “I don’t know how to do this” mindset but when it comes to actually reading a book the problem is the book not being interesting making me not read it.

Throughout this fall semester, I have learned many things. Before this class, I have never had to buckle down and plan out my writing so tediously. The many outlines, rough drafts, and final drafts have crafted me into a much better writer than I would have ever expected to become. While I have always considered English as one of my strong subjects, through this class I have learned that English has many more components than I originally thought. One of the most substantial of these components is a transitional sentence and through this class and the writing practice it has brought me, I have learned how to properly write them.
I was assigned at the University of Tampa (UT) for my NGR 6947 (fall semester) practicum. Initially I contacted my preceptor, Dr. Cindy Parsons, via email for introducing myself, thanking her for being my preceptor, and getting a telephone appointment to go over the practicum curriculum. The appointment was fixed for 08/26/15, Wednesday at 11:00 am. We had a 30 minutes phone conference, during which I went over my schedule and the practicum assignments. Since I have already completed my NGR 6940, I was able to explain thoroughly my goals and expectations to the preceptor. Though my writing has improved it still needs a lot of work. My writing skill is not where I would like it to be. English is the hardest class for me and I often find myself being surprised by my grades as I try to work very hard on my essays. My essays are often confusing and don't normally make a clear point.
My industrial placement commenced with European Management and Marine Corporation (EMMC) in the month of July, delayed due to unforeseen circumstances. Before arriving at the workplace I had several expectations of what the place would be like, however the reality was quite different. My job title is an Intern/Trainee and I am expected to complete various tasks as a part of my responsibility. This placement was achieved through informal channels rather than formal channels as I was against the idea of a placement whereas my family were for it. Due to my strong family values I decided on taking up the placement.
“Study Skills for Computing”, for instance, has changed my attitude towards group works. Upon entry in Islington College, I was very introvert. I did not like to share tasks among people whatever the goal was. While doing the group assignment, I realised that working with others was actually fun and the job would also be easier. The group assignment made me more social. Apart from this module, I achieved academic development due to the module “Problem Solving in IT”. I had studied MS-access before in the eleventh grade where we were taught the manipulation of data. However, I did not understand anything except the creation of tables. In this module, I learned not only tables but also the creation and use of queries, reports and forms. Due to it, I also learned much about the SQL codes. It has made me capable of writing basic SQL codes
In the beginning of the semester I was a bit nervous for English 101 because I had not written a paper since my junior year of high school. The first essay was a good start for me since it was on a topic that I could easily relate to which helped me get my toes wet. After that it got a little more challenging since we started on research papers. I learned quickly that it takes quite a bit more time and patience. In high school, we were not required to use library sources, so it was much easier to find sources. I think that is something that I improved on over the course of the semester was finding stronger sources that supported my essays better. To do that, I relied heavily on the Lincoln Land library webpage, so I could utilize my time better.
It has been a test to adjust every one of the aspects of my life since I turned into an online understudy. Every day, I battle to adjust my all day work, my own life, and my schoolwork. I fill in as a housekeeping boss at parkland wellbeing Hospital. Tuesday through Sunday, I leave going to work at 830pm to make the 35 minute drive from my home so I can be on time. My employment is to get the printed material to assemble for everybody so when they come in me and my staff can have a meeting and begin working. We prepare the space for patient to be conceded in to the healing facility my employment is then to check and check whether all region are spotless for the following movement. The English language is not merely one particular type it forms into many accents and types of speaking. Depending on the environment, one is bred into. In the end, for me, it begins with Indo-European and moves on to American English towards Western in particular with its subtle dialect. There isn’t a lot to tell as far as background I’ve attempted some languages outside my social structure such as Spanish and French but never got very far in either. I stopped learning them after a certain period of time so I’m terribly out practice and would be unable to attempt them again.
On October 25, 2015, St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Needville, Texas had their annual church bazaar. I have been a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church for over sixteen years and have volunteered at the bazaar since I was in junior high school . This year, I decided to help out with the raffle tickets table for my four hours of volunteer service. While there, I helped collect money, collect tickets, crumble tickets, and fill out tickets for anyone that purchased tickets. For the first two hours, people were swarming the table trying to turn in tickets and buy more. As people would buy more tickets, they would fill out the first ticket of the pack and I helped them fill out the rest. I then would crumble up the tickets and get them ready to go into the barrel for the big raffle drawing.
In high school, English was my strongest and favorite subject. I never had to work as hard in English as I did in math or any other subjects I took in high school. My peers would cram all night for a Literature test we were going to have but not I. I excelled in writing essays about Moby Dick and his white Whale or Beowulf and Grendel. My confidence in my ability to write was always high and when I enrolled at Chattahoochee, I assumed my confidence would not waiver. When I received my grade for my first paper, I was in shock of all the red ink that covered it. English 1101 taught me the skills I needed to have to be able to write a great paper and prepared me for what was to come for English 1102. English 1102 have taught me to rethink my abilities as a writer and to work harder and spend more time on my essays and think outside the box.
