On October 25, 2015, St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Needville, Texas had their annual church bazaar. I have been a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church for over sixteen years and have volunteered at the bazaar since I was in junior high school . This year, I decided to help out with the raffle tickets table for my four hours of volunteer service. While there, I helped collect money, collect tickets, crumble tickets, and fill out tickets for anyone that purchased tickets. For the first two hours, people were swarming the table trying to turn in tickets and buy more. As people would buy more tickets, they would fill out the first ticket of the pack and I helped them fill out the rest. I then would crumble up the tickets and get them ready to go into the barrel for the big raffle drawing. …show more content…

With people surrounding our table, it was extremely easy to become distracted and socialize. However, when performing this task, it was important that I correctly completed my job to ensure that everyone received the correct amount of change and their information was copied on the tickets correctly. By completing this task, I learned how to manage everything that I was doing when things around me became hectic. However, the most important thing I learned from this experience is how important it is to give back to those around you. Both my church and community have done so much for me growing up. It was an awesome feeling to come back and help out my church, talk with everyone back home, and help the bazaar become successful. Typically, once teenagers leave high school and go off to college, not many come back and attend or volunteer at the bazaar again.
