Elvis Presley was an American singer and actor. It was and is known as one of the most important in the music of the 20th century and still fills our hearts with its music. He was known as the King of Rock and Roll. He was also a great actor throughout his career which opened many opinions in his artistic life. I will be inquiring more into the life of Elvis Presley, as was his career and his history until his death.
Elvis was born on January 8, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi. Son of Vernon and Gladys Presley, who had a pregnancy of twins though, Jesse Aaron Presley, died at birth, so Elvis grew up as an only child. Vernon his father worked a series of occasional jobs, and in 1938 he was sentenced to three years in prison for forging a check for four dollars (he spent less than a year behind bars). He performed the ballad “Old Shep” in which he won the singing contest when he was only 10 years old, and on his 11th birthday, they bought him a guitar as his present. With the guitar, he was able to play two songs as a gift to his mother. With his hard work, he was able to come up with “Love Me Tender”, which was his first movie and from there, his fame begun (Clayton 23). Elvis Presley was a successful singer and his singing won him many awards in his lifetime. His talent and kindness also earned him millions of fans and he is one of the most important figures of the 20th century in popular culture. When he died, it was tragic for everyone who loved him and his talent for writing music. Even though there are reasons to believe that he is dead, I believe that Elvis Presley is still alive because there is evidence that proves it.
When Elvis Presley was pronounced dead was at the age of forty-two. The day he died witnesses said that he was last seen playing a game of racquet ball. But when they found his body it was face down on the floor of a bathroom at Graceland at around 2:30 p.m. on August 16th, 1977. The final decision of the cause of his death was he had a heart disease but also he had many prescription drugs that he was taking at the time so that might have also been a part of the cause as well. Many believed that he faked his own death to just escaped from his famous life and just live a normal life.
