Elvis Presley was not only a very profane and controversial rock-star, but he was also a flourishing role model for many generations succeeding him. He happened to be at the right place and time where he was able to experience life as a layman and also as a star. Elvis was a role model, a rock model, and a great singer. Elvis was very charismatic in that he was passionate enough for music that he was able to mix many different types of music into a style later called “Rockabilly.” He made rock popular to every crowd of people.

Elvis was not the kind of person who would sit still and accept the harshness of the world. Trina Young, a very successful entertainment journalists and who specializes on the life of Elvis Presley, stated he: [was] constantly at war with his inner desires: the rock and roll revolutionary who wanted to be a mainstream pop star, the teen heartthrob who wanted to be a serious actor, the defiant rebel who dutifully served in the military, the sex god who released religious gospel records and the anti-establishment symbol who proudly shook hands with President Nixon. Elvis affected just about every musician who came after him. Elvis’ Rockabilly was the brilliant fusion of country and western, with African-American rhythm and blues, and the dominating pop music of the day. Elvis did not just create music for no reason; he had a purpose in mind. He pushed for civil rights, social integration and made it popular. In a way he was like Martin Luther King in that movement, peacefully inserted the thoughts in peoples’ minds. He did in fact influence many. Bob Dylan grew up with Elvis and he adopted a lot of the passion and confidence he had. It is interesting to point out that he performed a lot better than the Beatles, a group which is considered by many the best ever in the business.
