Martin Luther King

Martin Luther King Jr. was a man of his time. He saw that segregation was wrong and decided to do something about it. He endured through hard times, all the while working to better the lives of others. With his help many people began to take a stand against the racial inequality and injustice against African Americans. He left a lasting impact and improved the lives of thousands living in America and changed the future for those yet to come.
Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15,1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was the middle child of three born to Alberta Williams King and Martin Luther King Sr. Martin’s parents were kind and loving and did their best to try to shield their children

from racism. His father strongly opposed segregation, not only because it was his people that languished, but also because he was a minister and he believed that it was against God’s will. His teachings would greatly influence and help shape the leader that Martin was destined to become. However many things would come to pass before he was ready to change the world.
In bio.com it describes Martin as a “precocious student”. He attended Booker T. Washington High School and skipped ninth and eleventh grades. He entered Morehouse College when he was only fifteen. Even though Martin’s family was very religious he had doubts that made him uneasy and eventually led him to decide not to take a ministry class. However, in his Junior year he took a bible class that sparked the faith in him again and he began to think of following his father's footsteps. Martin eventually enrolled in Boston University where he met Coretta scott who married in June 1953. A year later he became the pastor of Baptist church in Montgomery,Alabama.
In 1955 a woman named Rosa Parks was arrested for not giving up her seat for a white man. That night Martin met with other civil rights activist to plan a boycott on the city buses. He was chosen to lead this movement and at his first meeting he gave a rousing speech that gave the people of montgomery a new hope, that they could make their voices heard. Over the course of 382 days the colored men and women helped each other accomplish their goal by walking, riding bicycles, and carpooling instead of riding the bus. On December 20th ,1956 they were finally rewarded. The city of Montgomery lifted its laws against segregation on the buses. This was the first of many movements that Martin Luther King would lead to help, not only those in his community, but everyone in the entire nation.
