Diana Ross once stated “Instead of looking at the past i put myself 20 years and try to look at what i need to do now, in order to get there then.” Back in the 2960’s, Diana Ross was the lead singer of the female group, The supremes. She foresaw the success that they could gain and had to adapt the way the group performed in ways that were not common back then. The supremes were the most influential music group during the 1960’s, because they were the first all-female group to become successful, they won multiple awards for their music, and they helped pave the way for other future female artists.

Elvis Presley was born in Tupelo, Mississippi on January 8, 1935. Elvis parents were Vernon and Gladys Presley. When Elvis and Priscilla started dating they were 10 years apart, Elvis was 24 and Priscilla was 14 years old. After eight-year courtship, Priscilla and Elvis got married on May 1, 1967. That summer, he drops by The Memphis Recording Service, home of the Sun label, and makes a demo acetate of "My Happiness" and "That’s When Your Heartaches Begin" for a cost of about $4.00 as a birthday present for his mother, Gladys. Sam Phillips records Elvis singing "My Happiness" and "That's When Your Heartaches Begin," and afterwards tells his assistant Marion Keisker something that made her write down in her notes, "Good ballad singer.
