In some instances in our life we experience stress. Stress can have both a positive or negative impact in a person’s life. On the positive side, stress can be the force that drives a person to perform well during an interview or a piano recital. However, from another perspective, stress can be a negative force that people do not desire. For example, if a person is waiting in traffic for a long time, then, the resulting stress will have negative impact on their mood and their day can be spoilt. If a person’s stress is left untreated for a certain amount of time, then there is a high chance that it can become chronic. Chronic stress results in mental and physical negative outcomes like being fatigued, getting irritated easily for no apparent reason and poor concentration. Chronic stress was found to make existing problems worse. For example, it can cause headaches due to negative thoughts. Another effect of chronic stress is that it can cause physiological diseases like high blood pressure. Moreover, it can lead to bad health habits like smoking and drinking. Adults at the age of 21 can use smoking and drinking as a way of coping with stress. When a person is depressed and has minimal social interactions for a prolonged amount of time, he or she can have a higher risk of developing cardiovascular complications. The definition of stress offered is more similar and can be easily understood by the typical person. The universal definition of “stress,” which has been uniformly described from a wide range of opinions, from medical practitioners to academics, has been used as a means of streamlining the care offered by said professionals in efforts to combat and counteract stress. The articles given have no ethnic bias and can be used by various cultural groups. In relation to the topic, my opinion on it, is that different people have varied ways of dealing with stress. I believe that a person’s personality can make different stressful situations have either a negative or a positive outcome. Therefore, it can be said that one situation might have a negative outcome on one person, while the same situation will have a positive outcome on another person (Bradbury, 2013). Simultaneously, there is only one way to positively decrease the damaging physiological impact of stress like cardiovascular risk. This involves including one’s self in a little recreational activities, such as dance classes and cycling. Everyone everywhere has experienced stress with something they have dealt with in life. Whether it is school, paying bills, managing a busy schedule or work, stress affects everyone. Although everyone experiences stress, many people don’t actually know what stress is. Stress is the physical response of the body to harmful situations that threaten someone’s well being. When someone says “stress”, the word is automatically associated with a negative effect on people but small doses of stress can benefit a person, if used to correctly. Everyone’s stress level is different and the amount of stress that can be handled varies from person to person but a stress overload will not benefit anyone. “When you feel threatened, a chemical reaction occurs in your body to allow you to act in a way to prevent injury” (“Stress Management Health Center”). The chemical that is released when stressed is known as cortisol, also known a stress hormone. “Cortisol is like a long-term form of adrenaline, produced in the adrenal gland when the body is under pressure” (“The Effects of Stress on Your Reproductive Health and Fertility”). Adrenaline is also released to send the body into, what is known as, emergency action (“Stress Symptoms, Signs and Causes”). This emergency action speeds up reactions preformed by the body and the mind. This is a way of protecting the body. While in emergency action, this stress caused by threatening situations can save your life. Scientific evidence provides the information on the negative effects stress in the different levels of our wellbeing. Stress has been identified as a killer, just like the warnings we see in the crazed commercials on cigarette smoking, we cannot ignore the reality of inevitable damage. Those of us that experience an awaking of senses are able to reduce and control stress levels by putting life into prospective. My perspective upon completing this project citifies my conviction for developing reduction in stress principles and life style
In the past thirty years there have been a significant number of studies done to establish a connection between psychological stress and the development of cardiovascular disease (CVD). CVD refers to the negative change towards the normal process of the heart and blood vessel system (What Is Cardiovascular Disease (Heart Disease)?, online). Psychological stress is defined, but not limited to being a demanding condition in which the normal behavioral conditions are exceeded thus overwhelming the behavioral resources of the organism (Kamarck, 2012). In the world today it has been shown that the impacts of psychological, social, and environmental stressors from daily lives are increasing the physical well being of individuals. Two different types of stressors can attain cardiovascular responses: "acute major life stressors and chronic exposure to continuing stressors" (Dimsdale, 2008). A stressor is any condition which causes stress on an individual. One may be exposed to acute stressors during periods of intense stress that are not regular to one’s lifestyle. Those who are exposed to constant chronic stressors are at an increased risk for hypertension, atherosclerosis, and stroke (Hojt, online). The increased levels of psychological stress present in individuals lives is providing for alarm due to the direct correlation it has with risk for cardiovascular disease.
Stress can come from any event or thought that makes us feel frustrated, angry, or nervous. All of us experience stress and usually cope with it well. Stress is an omnipresent part of life and is a reaction to external stimuli that disturb our physical or mental equilibrium. It is a system in our body that helps us to deal with real danger and / or perform at our best. Any event or happening that induces stress is called stressor.

Life is full of obstacles and has shown people that stress is very common and a part of life. When you are running around all the time like you are in an emergency mode, your body will pay the price. What some people do not know is that stress can actually be helpful and can cause a positive effect on you. It can serve as a motivation and be useful under pressure. Without stress, our lives would be boring and pointless.
Stress is part of our lives. We live with it; deal with it, and above all worry about it. Our way of life, where we live, the state of the economy, daily life and our jobs can cause a great deal of stress. Not everyone deals with the same level of stress and there are several factors that can impact our lives and cause us to have higher or lower stress levels. The body's stress response can enhance a person's ability to perform well under pressure if it is functioning properly, however, the stress response can also be hazardous, causing serious problems if it overreacts or fails to reset itself properly. Many physiologists today also define stress as the body’s reaction to a stressor. However, what most people do not know is the negative effect of stress on the immune system.
Stress is defined in the dictionary as “state of mental tension and worry caused by problems in your life”. Everyone encounters stress in their life caused by many different variables in life and we all cope with in different ways. The way one copes with the stress is how it can affect our body. Some take to working out, eating healthy, take breaks from what is stressing you out and getting plenty of sleep which are good ways to cope with it. Some take to other coping mechanisms that are not very great for the body. Some examples are stress eating, abuse of drugs and alcohol, bottling up the stress, and depression. These bad methods can cause serious damage to one’s health on the body.
Modern life is full of troubles, frustrations and deadlines. People have to suffer stressful from many directions and they seem to be consent to live with stress. Many people think that they can stand with stressful and it is harmless, but it is not. If people live in stress during a long period of time, it has bad effect to health and spirit. Therefore, there is actually that you can protect yourself by understanding stress and how to reduce these harmful effects caused by stress.
Stress is not something to be avoided. Everyone feels stressed from time to time and it depends on people that may feel stress in different ways. Not all stress is bad but it depends on how peoples take it. The words “stress” is something all of us have experienced but it seems that there are many different definitions used by psychologist, medics, management consultants or others. Psychologists describe stress as “demands of life” which pointed out as “stressors” and stress is the cause of the worn out tissue of our body (Meenakshisundaram, 2012, p.101). Stress can be divided into four types which are eustress, acute stress, episodic acute stress and chronic stress (illustrated in Figure 1).
Everyday life can make people feel a range of emotions. Passing an important exam may make one feel happy, whereas receiving a speeding ticket from a police officer may make a person angry. These are just two events that can happen any day, at any time. What emotion was the person feeling while studying for that important exam? How was the person who received the ticket feeling? Studying for an exam and receiving a traffic ticket can cause stress. Stress is something that people have almost every day and it can even affect people’s health and psychological state (Pietilä & Rytkönen, 2008). Usually when people undergo stress, they can sweat or possibly even become short of breath. Inside of the body, the heart will pound and stress hormones are released (de Kloet, 2008). These symptoms of stress can occur when feeling both types of possible stress, distress or eustress.
Stress is defined as “any circumstances that threaten or are perceived to threaten one’s well-being and thereby tax one’s coping abilities” (Weiten & Lloyd, 2006, p. 72). Stress is a natural event that exists literally in all areas of one’s life. It can be embedded in the environment, culture, or perception of an event or idea. Stress is a constant burden, and can be detrimental to one’s physical and mental health. However stress can also provide beneficial effects; it can satisfy one’s need for stimulation and challenge, promote personal growth, and can provide an individual with the tools to cope with, and be less affected by tomorrow’s stress (Weiten & Lloyd, 2006, p. 93).
We have all had these feelings before. Anxious thoughts, a short temper, trouble sleeping and concentrating, a constant headache, your back and shoulders always hurting, you are stressed out.
A Student 's life on University campus revolves around going to classes, studying in the library or in their own room, getting involved in co-curricular activities made compulsory by the university and sometimes hanging out with their friends to have fun after an exam. For many students who live in students accommodation being away from their family will require them to be independent and some students need quite some time to get adjusted to their new environment or they will be homesick or stressed. They need to practice housekeeping, to manage a budget, and to find their way around new place. Stress is also a part of every student’s daily life. It can be very damaging for students when stress becomes excessive. It can harm student 's health, happiness, work performance, relationships and personal development.
First, stress is defined as an unpleasant state of emotional and physiological arousal that people experience in situations that they perceive as dangerous or threatening to their well being (Patel, 14). Stress is a universal feeling to everyone but the word stress means different things to different people. Some people define stress as events or situations that cause them to feel tension, pressure or negative emotions such as anxiety or anger (Patel, 15). Other people may view stress as a process involving a person’s interpretation and response to a threatening event. In any case, stress has many facets of how one perceives and responds to the certain predicament that is ailing them.
