Education Through My Eyes
What is education? More than that, what should education be? Education is the process of teaching and learning. It should be fun for both teacher and pupil. Education should be embraced with eagerness and the teacher and student should be able to reverse roles; one learning from the other. I want to be part of this process. My desire is to change at least one life. I want to see the look of amazement on the face of a child who has just learned his/her ABC’s or who has said a nursery rhythm for the first time.
My class room will be decorated with knowledge. Walls colored by the rainbow, rugs lined with the alphabet. Each desk would have a special number and the bulletin board would be decorated by the seasons and holidays or the drawings made by my students they colored with pride. I would arrange desks so that my students can participate in cooperative learning as much as possible. I do not want calculators used in my class, they take away from the learning experience. At least once a week, I would pick a subject and have each group tell the rest of the class what they have learned about it.
I believe that there has to be some type of authority in a classroom, however, that authority can not be abused. My rules will be easy to follow: 1) Have materials ready for class; 2) Do not disrupt class; 3) Do not talk while the teacher is talking; 4) Keep your hands to yourself; 5) No food or drinks in class unless there is enough for everyone. There will be rewards for the student who has the fewest violations of these rules. Discipline, I believe should be administered according to the severity of the crime, with the most severe being sent to the principal for action.
I believe that a teacher should be a leader, a role model. A teacher should be the students friend, who cares not only about making sure students learn, but makes sure the students aren’t starving for food or attention.
1• Single leg glute bridge~ Lie on the back, knees bent and feet on the floor but near to the hip and hip wide apart, extend on leg. During exhalation, squeeze the glutes while you push the butt up as high as possible, hold. Then lower it down but do not ket it touch the floor, and repeat to complete the set.
Bent forward over the length of a bench, placing your left knee and left hand on the bench for support while holding a dumbbell in your right hand with your palm facing your body. If you don't have a bench, step forward with your left foot and bend at your waist so you can rest your left hand on your left thigh above your knee for support.
Keep these muscles tight and raise your leg 4 to 6 inches (10 to 15 cm) off the floor.
My classroom would be run with the attitude of the students in mind. First of all, the main emphasis of class would be learning science, not good behavior. I guess I would take a non-authoritarian view of discipline. By high school, the students know how to behave and constantly pointing out the right way to behave is only going to make them do the opposite for attention. The only time a student would be punished is if their actions are taking away from the learning process. At this point in my education, I would probably say I would let the principle deal with the discipline considering only severe cases would need punishment. This, as with many of my views, may change with increased education and experience.
Moore opens the poem with the line “I, too, dislike it” as an ironic response to the title (Loeffelholz 359). The irony in this first line is so severe that it will make the hair on the back of the reader’s neck stand on end. But this is because it is so easy for the reader to want to automatically ascer...
The bridge exercises effectively works your glutes, while also engaging your legs and calves. During this exercise you're lying face up on the floor with your knees bent and your feet hip-width apart, flat on the floor. After engaging your abs, raise your hips, lifting your butt and lower back off the floor, until your body aligns from your knees to your shoulders. Really squeeze your buttocks at the top of the exercise for two seconds, and then slowly return to the starting point. Finish eight to 12 reps and two to three sets. (See References 4, p. 50)
Romanian deadlifts: This exercise requires a set of medium weight dumbells. Holding them in your hands, arms at your sides and your knees relaxed. Now, the tricky part here is to bend forward at the hip and not the waist. The simplest way to do this is to ensure your back remains straight at all points. Bend as much as you can. To pull yourself back up, squeeze your glutes. Yes, you can lift yourself up with that. Three sets of 15 will lead to some well sculpted glutes.
Lastly is the iso-explosive squat. To do this right, stand with your hands at the back your head. At the same time, pull back your elbows so that they’re in line with the body. Next, push your hips back while you bow your knees down into a squat pose. This is to make the thighs parallel to the floor. You can be in this pose for five seconds before intensely and abruptly pushing off the floor like you’re attempting to jump up as high as possible. Then, gently land and go back to the beginning and perform it again if deemed needed.
The foundation of teaching should be love and discipline. In order to promote a safe environment that is conducive to learning, teachers must establish classroom rules that are few but fair. It is the teacher's responsibility to enforce those rules without prejudice or without favoring one student over another. I agree with the existentialist philosophy that students should be taught to take full responsibility for their own actions. However, discipline--or any other facet of teaching, for that matter--is useless without love. It has been said that people do not care how much you know until they know how much you care. I believe that has a definite application in the field of teaching. A teacher who does not show his or her students that rules and regulations are for their benefit, not to stifle or di...
Execution: Bend your waist to raise the upper part of your back from the floor. Keep your lower back in contact with the ground and lift the upper trunk as much as possible. Then lower down again until the back of your shoulders comes into contact with the floor. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
I believe teachers should serve as role models and be the center of a classroom. In order to maintain that students stay on task and are all on the same page, the teacher needs to serve as a guide and direct the students. I do not believe that students learn best in a textbook based setting, but that textbooks are important when referencing material. I believe all students learn differently and look for new ideas or ways to teach lessons and concepts, so that my students can learn as effectively as possible. I also believe that a teacher teaches much more than the subject. It is very important for students in my classroom to something other than the subject that I teach. I want them to learn life skills that will help them in more areas and aspects of their life other than education. I believe my students should strive for hard work, dedication, and integrity, and go beyond learning just the content of a
Education is the very foundation in which we as individuals grow, and formulate the knowledge we gain through life into meaningful ways of adapting to the world.
Teaching classroom rules and procedures will contribute to a safe and secure environment for students. Classroom rules should be the same for everyone, however, like I mentioned above there are exceptions to be made on an individual basis. All interactions within the classroom should be positive. There will be no teasing or harassing of any kind. Respect, trust, and understanding will be the foundation of classroom rules. It is important to keep an open mind and treat each student with fairness, with the hope that in return students will learn to treat each other as equals and with
...many others. A teacher is one who has to overcome the fear of walking into a classroom of uncontrollable students; she has to hold her head up high. Any sign of giving in to the students many destroy the teacher herself. A teacher is one who is willing to get up every morning and teach these students even when they would rather do other things with their time. An achievement in becoming a great teacher lies within the person. The decision to have a great classroom that the students look forward to or a classroom that all the students hate is left up to one person, the teacher. I hope to become the teacher that all the students look forward to having, and I will strive to make my classroom the best that it can be. Children realize that education plays a major part in their lives and I hope to make it memorable and enjoyable, as well as helpful and educational.
Discipline plays a key part in education. Respect from your students will make the classroom a better atmosphere. Rules should be established on the first day. Rules should be a thoughtful process so they can be carried out to be affective, but logical consequences. We do not want the students self esteem to be damaged.
