From the student’s life to helping the school as a whole, fine arts are recognized for numerous things in many public schools. They often benefit more than those in a group or ensemble, but mixed opinions exist and present tension between other activities. While a student’s literacy, perception and intellectual development expand through music, flaws presently coincide with musical education. One’s literacy refers to their own ability to read and write. Musical abilities and education help sharpen one’s mind and senses. This improves skills with language through recognising and processing linguistic pitch patterns or patterns within tone. “Political rhetoric and shrinking budgets have too often resulted in the false choice of ‘basic subjects’ over other areas of study, such as music and art,” that often help those in the curriculum live a ‘good life.’ Something else to note is that quality music education is not available to a sum of students. The lack of state policies regarding music education also means that many children have no music teacher in their school. There’s also a possibility that the quality of the class isn’t helpful to students. A lack of resources to families also weakens the experience that could be gained in a class. Adding on to that, many families are unable to pay for and form of musical education outside of a school setting. Assessment on the students can be either positive or negative. Students’ assessment is essential for accountability and decision making, but when assessing standardized curriculum, deciding how to move forward is hard to decide. Assessing students and teachers gives an insight of what they are excelling at and how they can improve effectively. It seems to be an essential part of an effective ensemble, but some schools either lack effective reports or just don’t have any form of an assessment in
