Every day in my class right before lunch a fellow student and I discuss where we should go to grab some lunch with our brief lunch period. Most places we debate over are greasy and fatty, but we never take that into consideration. We just go where retrieving the food is fast and convenient. When you consider that we both have jobs and school you’d understand how accustomed we are to eating out at such places. Most of the time we have no room in our schedule to work out. In the United States alone there are roughly 14,000 BURGER KING® restaurants (Google), over 25,000 Subway’s (Google), and an outstanding 35,000 McDonald’s restaurants (Google). These young adults know what they are eating is unhealthy but they do not understand what these foods are doing to their bodies. The importance of what people put into their bodies must be further stressed. Perhaps providing a do’s and don’ts list of what to eat when at recruitments. As for the exercise portion, most of the time we don’t realize how the little things can all add up; express the importance of any physical activity, even cleaning the house or riding a bike to school rather than riding the bus. Trying to change the bad habitats of these young adults won’t be easy. The stubbornness of these men and women will not only be their own challenge but our challenge as well. To overcome this obstacle persistence and enforcement will be necessary. Stressing the importance of these changes, not only for eligibility but also for a long healthy life, will only go so far. Ultimately the decision to make the change will be up to the young men and women who wish to protect and serve our
