In contrast, dinner scene in the long take without any film editing in “What time is it there” depicts silent isolation between the Hsiao-Kang and his mother. Under the dim light, the background is depressingly dark. On the same table, Hsiao-kang and his mother as if sit separately and have dinner on their own. Lowering down their heads, they keep picking up food without Zhou, 1 saying anything to each other. With remote, emotional eyes, Hsiao-Kang tries to look to his mother, failing to understand his mother's instable emotions.
