After completing the readings, respond to the following prompts.
Make a list of words and/or phrases that Pegeen uses to establish a dynamic learning environment. How did these words or phrases disrupt a fixed- performance frame while contributing to the establishment of a dynamic learning environment? “Say more about this” - This discourages the student from thinking their response was right or wrong and instead encourages them to expound more on the thought. This gives value to the student’s idea and added respect the students as well.
“What did Michael say? Remember?” - This was a reinforcement of the statement above. Instead of making a large deal that someone who struggles to read had a valuable point, Peegen reminded the class that

So when you hear these words, this time you might think differently about this book” - In a fixed performance frame there is room for change and therefore no room for growth. This encourages a dynamic learning environment by encouraging change within themselves as people and specifically as students. A key would in this phrase is might. This word POINTS OUT that change is productive, but not required leaving their thoughts more open minded.
“Stephen will you repeat what he said for us so we can think about it?”
Yet - This single word changes a phrase from a fixed- performance view to a dynamic learning view. Students that are in a fixed performance frame would say “I am not good at that”, because they feel that ability and performance are pass or fail values. A student with a dynamic- learning view would say “I am not good at that yet”, because they are focused on progress and taking on challenges.
“He just made a bad choice, don’t you think” - A fixed performance view is self-centered in positive or negative way. In this instant the student would be seen as a bad person for acting out. A dynamic learning view isolates the person’s behavior from their character. This is important because it focuses on the issue without attacking their self worth therefore leading to positive

Not only was I interested in the topic, but I felt that I was making progress in my professional skills. Early in our junior year, I would have said that I was bad at making long term lesson plans and that was something I wanted to work on. I had an dynamic learning mentality already. This class pushed me to focus on progression and growth through our mini unit. I was challenged and struggled at times, but in the end I succeed. I believe that our classroom is a dynamic learning environment through the discussions lead as well as the way Dr. Schwartz phrases statements and questions. Our discussions are productive because as students we are encouraged to contribute to the classroom thinking (Page 4). Through this, we learn how to participate in a strong democracy. This is a strong focus in all of our cohort classes, because we discuss and share our own
Engagement in classroom discussions influences positive engagement in the workplace by allowing the individual to be more social and attentive when put in the environment, and to also makes the environment a great place to work. The first thing everyone learns is listening and acknowledging what you have learned which is used in any setting. Classroom engagement can help develop someone’s communication skills, time management and self awareness. Being in the classroom teaches you how to communicate with people, and speak to people positively. This type of
Perhaps because I couldn’t follow the "normal" patterns student follow. I had to find my way and purpose.
Teachers continually learn about ways people learn – the processes of learning and how individuals learn best. They learn about their students and individuals, and learn with as well as from their students when they seek knowledge together. (Principles of effective learning and teaching, 1994). Through continually discovering new and exciting ways to help mould a constructivist classroom, the students will be able to achieve their outcomes with great ease and learn to enjoy education.
Over the course of this class I have pieced together many things about my own life that before went unnoticed. I am now able to see things in a bit of a different light. Now that I have been introduced to the realm of psychology I understand some of the reasons for behavior around me. I have learned that there is a reason for most everything and a lot of our behaviors and mental processes can be explained through psychology. Studies have been conducted for many years to try and pinpoint the source of our behavior and it is not something that most people think about every day. Having a better understanding of why we operate the way we do will help me to better understand myself and the others around me.

A learning perspective is a psychological approach that reflects how the environment and how experience affects a person’s or animal’s actions. It emphasizes the importance of a unique experience for families, schools, and communities. Within this perspective, psychologists keep their attention mainly on the environmental rewards and punishers that maintain or discourage certain behaviors. Behaviorists do not generally order the mind to explain behavior. They often prefer to continue with things they can observe and measure directly, such as acts and events taking place in the objects surroundings....

Dynamic Assessment Dynamic, teaching assessments shows a child’s learning potential, rather than just providing quick shot of what they already know. They aim to uncover the child’s capacity to understand a concept, and to evaluate how much support or mediation is needed, and what kind is preferred in order to help the child understand. Dynamic assessments also assess areas like personality and motivational factors amongst
The most interesting part was attending the specialties that the students had, such as their health class, early literature class, and counseling. For each of these there was a different teacher. During health I was able to assist, in activities. However while observing part of the lecture, I learned that I didn’t like the classroom management that was being used. During early literature, the students were read a book and then wrote story about the same theme.
The classroom should be a democratic environment where students choose what they want to learn. The teacher and stud...
Principals, teachers, parents, and students are the key players in the work of schooling. When working together, they form a concentration of leadership that is a powerful force in a school. If led by a skillful principal, teachers will often band together to form a team of professionals that invites parents and students into the work of leadership. Anytime an individual work together in reflective terms, they make the most out of their combination of talents. For instance, faculty meetings are occasions for educators to learn to collaboratively, action research teams elicit inquisitiveness and a regard for evidence, and study groups test the assumptions of their members by introducing them to new ideas.
Others have been boring, overly strict, unapproachable, and at times unknowledgeable. I have learned valuable lessons from both. A positive and fun learning environment makes students want to be in the classroom. The first step in learning is that the children must want to be there.
• Do your best to stay on topic. While discussion is encouraged in our classrooms, rambling and off-topic conversations are not conducive to a quality learning experience.
I enjoyed the first learning activity of observation and can see this class getting into the mentality of education. I got this same thing from MGMT class and was surprised there too. I knew some about cognitive development prior to this class with the studies I have done, but I can still see the advantages of learning a new perspective.
It taught me to encourage others and that positive reinforcement will always work better than punishment. It showed me that being a leader isn’t about being the person with all of the ideas or the most vocal person, but being the person that inspires others to be creative and help share their thoughts and to lead them in the right direction. Like many people, my personal experiences have shaped who I am. As a future educator, I want my students to respect me as a teacher, but understand that I will be there for every one of them, whenever they need me. I will not judge them; I will only encourage them to do their best.
