I conducted my observation at the Big E’s Great Barrington Kennel Club Dog Show. It was very interesting! I had never been to a dog show so there was so much for me to take in and observe. It was housed in a large better living facility. A large warehouse looking building that is transformed for various events. There was a restaurant café and Dunkin Donuts housed inside along the perimeter as well different booths selling things. I sat and observed an actual dog show of one breed that took place in ring 1. I walked around and looked, listened, and watched the people and dogs prior to the show. I learned there are so many steps involved in showing a dog. I Thought to myself how much work this was and the people must really have to love it.

Because I am a senior, my parents have helped me even more this year in an effort to bring me more success at major livestock shows. Consequently, we have had to spend more money for better quality hogs. I have shown at the Houston Livestock Show, as well as other majors that are far away. We have driven many miles and spent much money toward travel costs. Despite the expenses for these trips, I could never regret going on them because of the lifelong memories I have made in the show barn.
Body Worlds Exhibition, NYC-This turned out to be the best school trip I ever had. Although at first, I genuinely felt as though there were some ethical codes being broken, I couldn’t help scrutinizing and feeling curious.
Seeing both ends of the process like this has been an incredibly rewarding experience and has offered me a good understanding of the role of a veterinarian in sheep farming. I will be returning there again this December for another week of lambing.
My first experience at the museum was a good one. I had so much fun even after we were done with the Norton-Simon. Being a business major, I did not know that art could speak to me as it did. It has not influenced me so much as to change my major, but it did open my eyes to a whole new world. Now when I look at art, I do not just see a pretty picture, but what the artist is actually trying to say.
The Stanley cup championships, the super bowl, the world series, the NBA finals, all are important sporting events with their place in american history, but there is one older than them all, the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. The Historical significance of the show is explained in the article titled "The Colorful History of America's Dog Show" published on the official Westminster Kennel Club website. Westminster pre-dates the invention of the light bulb and the automobile, along with the building of the Washington Monument, and the wright brothers first successful flight. The Westminster Kennel Club dog show is one of america's oldest sporting events, and it plays an important role in the history of America. Learning the colorful story of this show begins in the late 19th century when it all started. The show continued to make its mark in America all throughout the 20th century. Finally, America's Dog Show, the Westminster Kennel Club show has
I came across an article the other day on the Internet titled “The Importance of Purebred Dogs” by Babette Haggerty on her blog titled “Babette Haggerty on Dogs & Training.” In this article, Haggerty shares why she will always own a purebred dog. She begins her article with putting to shame PETA’s position on the matter by using heavy amounts of sarcasm. She then tells us a story of how she once adopted a mix-bred dog and how her father did not approve of this decision, seeing as he was an AKC judge and that she was always “raised with purebred dogs (Haggerty).” She then continues on to share how “buying purebred dogs and showing dogs at Westminster is a money maker (Haggerty)” and then goes into some detail on why dog shows are good for the economy without backing up her claims with any sources of evidence or statistics. Haggerty then goes on to explain how specific bre...
“It was 7 minutes after midnight. The dog was lying on the grass in the middle of the lawn in front of Mrs.Shears's house.” The way an author narrates their book is a very important factor in the reader’s understanding. The book The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime by Mark Haddon is narrated in first person by a 15 year old autistic boy named Christopher Boone. Having the book narrated by an autistic boy is not a good idea because readers can understand some situations better than Christopher could, he has trouble determining how others feel and he’s always explaining things he doesn’t understand, but most readers do. Christopher is an inadequate narrator which frustrates the readers.
There are around four million dogs alone taken into animal shelters here in the United States every year. Over one million of those dogs end up getting euthanized. As of 2012, the United States of America was ranked first in the entire World for having the most dogs: somewhere close to seventy-six million. The over-population of dogs is a real problem in this country. In America, two point eleven million puppies are sold every year from puppy mills, while about three million are killed in shelters because they are too full. Within the past twenty years, puppy mills have become very popular. Unlike animal shelters, puppy mills are designed to get puppy bred and sold as fast as possible. Since puppy Mills are intended for

Many face the moral question of doing what is right by society or by what is right according to their own moral code. The main characters of the short story “The Lady With The Pet Dog” by Anton Chekhov are forced to do just that. This short story describes a couple in the early 1900s in Russia. Its plot revolves around two people finding true love; the only complication is that they are both married. The same story is then rewritten by Joyce Carol Oates and it is given a modern twist. Both of these stories show how complicated and complex love can be. Most people would agree in saying that the original story, by Anton Chekhov, is the better story of the two. This can be shown through the analysis of both versions of the short stories in their theme of love, structure, and the different perspectives among each version.
A Dark Brown Dog is the story of a young boy who comes across a stray. The boy beats the animal, but still brings it home after he follows him. At first, the family rejects the idea of the dog, but the father demands that it should stay. After a short amount of time the animal becomes completely loyal to the young boy, yet is still beaten by the family and the child. In the end the father throws the small animal out of the window to its death. The most logical approach to this story would be a historical approach. This is because this story can relate greatly to slavery, when slaves were becoming emancipated and the North was fighting the South.
Dogs are wonderful creatures. They are loyal, dependable companions if given the opportunity. In recent years I have come to the opinion that we could learn something from these animals. We should also take a look at the manner in which they are being treated. Abandonment, irresponsible breeding, and neglect are only some of the ways that humans are failing the canine species.
Our pets are pretty talented at times. They can learn tricks easily and amaze anyone they come in contact with. However, this dog is more than amazing! Her owner has taught her how to do Irish Step Dancing, and she's really good at it.
