The Impact of Management in the Globalization of Business
In my attempt to discuss the impact of management in the globalization of business I looked at the terms “business management” and globalization”.

“Management styles are characteristic ways of making decisions and relating to the organization, managers, and subordinates. Different management styles can be employed dependent on the culture of the business, the nature of the task, the nature of the workforce and the personality and skills of the leaders. Every style has its own characteristics, strong points, shortcomings, and methods for getting work done.
There are four basic types of leadership styles, further classified as per specific methods of management. They are autocratic, democratic, participative, and laissez faire.

Leadership styles reflect a manner and approach of providing direction, implementing plans, and motivating people. Traditionally, effective leadership styles were thought of a one size fits all, leaders picked one approach and used it all situations. In today’s world, successful leaders recognize the style of leadership is relative to given situation, based on analyzing the employees and the organization. Leadership styles are most effective when the actions of a leader reflect what is best for individuals and the organization, simultaneously. Leadership styles ultimately affect human behavior, and according to James G. Clawson, change occurs at three levels: Level one leadership is focused on visible behavior patterns.

STYLES OF LEADERSHIP An autocratic leadership style is one where the manager sets objectives, allocates tasks, and insists on obedience. Therefore the group becomes dependent on him or her. The result of this style is the members of the group are often dissatisfied with the leader. This results in little cohesion, the need for high levels of supervision, and poor levels of motivation amongst employees. A democratic leadership style encourages participation in decision making.
Leadership is a quality many of us strive to achieve. To be an excellent leader has been an elusive quest. However, the pursuit of excellent leadership is movement in the right direction. In this paper we will examine the major types of leadership styles. The three types are, Participative or Democratic, Laissez-Faire, and Authoritative.
Leadership is the defining factor of a successful organization today. With the large number of companies in the world, there are just as many leadership styles. Understanding the different leadership styles is vital to the development of a management team as well as the organization. Matching the leadership style with the type needed for the organization in that point in time will impact the company in a positive manor. We can see examples of that in large corporations that will experience a shift in management when the level of production falls under a certain benchmark. The Blake Mouton Managerial Grid consists of five different leadership styles. The different styles outline the behaviours, traits, attitudes and focuses of the various leadership styles. The five styles are; Country Club, Impoverished, Middle of the Road, Team Leader, Produce or Perish leader. The model outlines how emphasizing on a particular area such as production could have negative repercussions onto another such as people. The grid is based on the idea that when the concern for both production and people are high, employee engagement and production will rise as well.
Before we can do a proper analysis of the leadership styles, we need to first answer the question, how do we define what leadership style is? The answer is simple, “Leadership style is the style that a leader adopts in their dealings with those who follow them.”(Kippenberger, 6)
But before those examples are discussed, one must know what exactly leadership and followership are. Leadership is broken down into four main categories: autocratic, bureaucratic, democratic, and laissez-faire. Autocratic leaders tend to dictate tasks to others to make sure the work gets done to how they see fit. Bureaucratic leaders use guidelines, rules, and regulations to accomplish tasks.

Globalisation is a very complex term with various definitions, in business terms, “globalization describes the increasingly global nature of markets, the tendency for transnational businesses to configure their business activities on a worldwide basis, and to co-ordinate and integrate their strategies and operations across national boundaries” (Stonehouse, Campbell, Hamill and Purdie, 2004, p. 5).
Globalization’s history is extremely diversified and began during the beginning of civilization. Now we live in a world that is constantly evolving, demanding people to use resources in locations that are very difficult to obtain certain resources. This could make it completely impossible to operate in these specific parts of the world. However, globalization allows people across the world to acquire much needed resources. Globalization creates the opportunity for businesses to take advantage and exploit the ability to take part of their business to a different country. Nevertheless, globalization is part of today’s society and will be involved in virtually all situations.
