Chapter Eight Their kissing is interrupted by a phone ring, she grabs and reads caller ID. Its Doug, she thinks about not answering but instead excuses herself. Lexi is left wanting more but takes the opportunity to access what she should do when she returns. In the kitchen Natalie answers phone, she answers hello and Doug with his zippy tone says, “Hey babe, I get off at ten o’clock tonight, I thought I would come over.” Natalie shocked by this is slow to answer. She tells him it will be kind of late. She tries to convince him for tomorrow. He feels like something is wrong and asks. Natalie assures nothing is wrong. She returns to the living room to find Lexi finishing her wine. Natalie sits down with a face of a caged animal, as if it had no choice but to stay and behave. Lexi looks and says, “That was your boyfriend and he is coming over?” Natalie nods and Lexi smiles and tells her it’s ok. She tells her the night went much better then she expected and its best not to cause you any undue stress. She offers her friendship. Natalie looks down with a sense of loss. Lexi gets up and prepares to leave; Natalie walks her to the door. At the door Natalie invites her and her brother to a party on Friday at her home. She tells her Doug will be there but it would make her happier with her situation. Lexi nods, and Natalie tries to retrieve one more kiss but Lexi retreats and says lets be friends. This way no one has hard feelings. Natalie smiles and accepts the rejection like a champ. They say
4. At that moment I couldn’t feel any more cynical about the way my friend was acting out.
This book has great balances of love interests, actions, and internal conflict with characters. It has an interesting story so far with new pieces coming up every few chapters that are very important. Like Al attacking Tris, Eric talking about Divergents and how the rebels must be eliminated. Tris and Four are developing feelings for each other, which I find weird because he is basically her teacher. They are only two years apart, so the relationship is not that awkward. In this journal I will be predicting, evaluating, and questioning.
The sword represents destruction and can signify war. The torch stands for the expansion and the pure light it
Two cheerful children ran down the hallways of the (Insert Last Name Of Isamu's Family) family home.A fire red haired girl slammed the door behind her and it was open again by her best friend.Without looking back the girl loaded her vow with a regular arrow and shot it backwards towards her unsuspecting friend.A quick slice later and the arrow was cut in half by Isamu's sword.Daylight danced around them as the true neck wearing boy pulled ahead and ran full speed to the door of their school.
6. (CC) Since Madame Loisel is the protagonist; I would say the necklace itself is the antagonist. As you can tell from the title of this short story, the necklace is the center of the conflict that is created to the Loisels. It is after Madame loses the necklace that all the trouble begins. Also, the necklace causes them misery and they end up being in debt. Madame and her husband had to work harder than they ever before to pay off the
She says she'll think about it and goes home but she can't help wondering if Kristi only invited her because she can’t go to the dance with Ryan unless she goes too. The next day Catherine goes to the OT. She and Jason go on their regular walk but stop in the park to take a rest. Jason starts taping the communication board and asks if she wants to come to his birthday party and says, Kristi can come too,but Catherine says, that she can't come and then Jason points to his cards and says, your brother can come also. She replies saying he might be able to come at the end for cake not wanting him to embarrass her. Catherine is so happy for the rest of the day because everything works out since Jason's party is the same day as the dance she will have an excuse not to go and Kristi and Ryan won't be able to see Jason's disability. The next day Catherine goes to Jason's party. She is welcomed by the smiles of Jason’s family. She sets down the gift she got him and goes to get Jason. She finds him in his room, with one of the pictures she drew awhile ago and gave to him on the
The very first lines of the story sets the tone and setting of this book. It explains that in order for a man to be successful, he needs a wife. It lays the foundation for the idea that a women depends on man to survive in society. Wealthy, upper class men were the biggest targets for a women to marry because marriage was the entrance into high society. Mrs. Bennet exclaims, “Oh! Single, my dear, to be sure! A single man of large fortune; four or five thousand a year. What a fine thing for our girls! (Austen 2)” This shows the dependence of women on man and the hope a promising bachelor gives to a family of daughters. Women were raised to be promising wives for man. Learning to cook, play instruments, look pretty, and clean were all essential
Albom says that “all endings are also beginnings,” and I think he means that when one door closes another door opens. When a part of your life ends, a new chapter is starting. This quote relates to the story because Eddie’s ending was his death which led to his beginning of heaven. His death was also his beginning of the next chapter in his life. I can relate to this quote because when I ended middle school, I had then entered into high school. I was able to get my drivers license and become more independent.
This passage gives readers an idea of what the island that they are stranded on is like. Since it is still in the beginning of the book everything is still calm on the island with very little violence, whereas in the end of the book the scenery of the island changes drastically with all the violence and savagery happening. Based on illuminating word phrases, eye-catching imagery, and bold descriptions, readers can get a feel as to what the island life is like with no adults around.
Once the strange happenings begin to occur in Edward’s life, a dark figure begins to follow him which he does not notice at first. Death is portrayed as the shadowy figure, dressed in pants, a hoodie and shoes all of which are black. He is a mysterious figure who metaphorically represents death. As time passes and Edward is running out of time to discover how to wake up, death comes nearer. This is represented by death moving closer towards Edward in every situation. If death becomes Edward’s fate, he will be consumed by death
I think that what the author was trying to imply in this passage was that in his personal experience, he has noticed that many people take many things for granted and that they don’t live their lives according to what they want and need to do. So much is wasted during one’s lifetime, and people just allow their lives to pass them by.
The rejection sets Kat overboard and her aggression spews out once again. In an attempt to regain Kat’s love, Patrick embarrasses himself by creating a grand singing scene in front of the whole school. By doing this big performance he lands himself detention in which Kat shows her forgiveness by diverging a distraction to help Patrick escape. Kats way of distraction was very out of character compared to her normal self; she flashed the detention teacher. Once again, Patrick works hard to prove he truly has fallen in love with Kat. By way of apology, Patrick buys Kat her favorite guitar with all the money he has received from the beginning deal. It was now time for her to go on to college and play ball; she still thought about him everyday. She eventually heard rumor that Marcus chose to stay home and not pursue his basketball career to be with the cheerleader he had ruined Camille’s life with. Camille was so hurt by this. She knew she had to do something and take matters into her own hands. She started with a scrapbook; on every page she pasted pictures of them together in colorful ways. Under every photo she wrote the significance of it. “The last page..” she told herself, “..will be one to remember.” She put a photo she found on facebook of him and his new lady. The next day she traveled back to her hometown and found Marcus’ apartment, upset still, she ran up the steps. Scrapbook in hand, she knocks calmly on the door. Marcus opens up ad Camille politely asks to enter. Little did he know this would be the worst mistake of his life. She hands him the scrapbook and asks him to read it aloud to her. Crying, she listens to the shaky voice recite their perfect high school life. He gets to the last page and sees what she has done, unable to control herself, Camille pulls out a gun and tells Marcus that she wants him to feel the way she did that day and shoots him. Blood covers the photo of the two new lovers. Camille turns around and says, “Never again will he hurt” and exits the small
