Design and Applied Arts is a broad field that addresses many different matters. Students typically choose to focus on a specific region of design. Some concentrations available are Design and Visual Marketing communications, Commercial and Advertising Skill, Industrial and Product Design, Commercial Picture taking, Fashion Design, HOME DESIGN, GRAPHICAL DESIGN, Illustration, and Game and Interactive Advertising Design.

They are able to take these principles from newspaper and create a genuine product. Students are detail focused and perfectionists. They have got strong communication and social skills because they often times will work for a customer and must pay attention to what that customer wants out of any design or product. Students in this field routinely have a history in art.
Design and Applied arts graduates usually work completely time positions in office buildings, design labs, or on location doing work for a client. Time vary with regards to the kind of work you do if you want to meet a deadline.
Students enthusiastic about this area should go after an internship, summer season job, or position as an associate to design specialists. This will help you to gain experience in the field and get a knowledge of how it operates.

The American Academy of Art possesses an interesting background. Frank Young Sr. dreamt of creating a school that would “provide the best instructors, attract the best students, and neglect nothing that will help them to build successful careers.” In 1923, Young decided to turn his dreams into reality, thus creating The American Academy of Art (AAA). The school was originally designed as a school to offer Associate's Degrees in commercial arts, but with the help of the current owner and president of AAA, Richard H. Otto, the ‘Bachelor of Fine Arts Program’ was established in 1992 (“About the Academy”).

I believe that since I want to go into the advertising side of graphic design, I should work towards a minor in Studio Art. Along with a major in Graphic Design, a minor in Studio Art falls under the Bachelor of Fine Art degree. The Studio Art program is for students planning on pursuing a career in visual arts; it is more of a professionally-oriented program. Certain core courses are required in order to be accepted into this program: Introduction to Studio Art I, Introduction to Studio Art II, and Art History. Above all, acceptance into this program depends mainly on grade point average and seriousness of purpose. For instance, if I had an excessive amount of absences, I would not be admitted to the program. Therefore, in order to receive this minor in Studio Art, I must remain focused and serious about my future career in graphic

Though, if a student goes into another field, it would be beneficial for him or her to pursue technology training to meet hiring qualifications. The National Association of schools of Art and Design have 320 accredited post secondary colleges, universities, and independent institutes with programs in art in design. Most of these schools include studio art, principles of design, computerized design, commercial graphics production, printing techniques and website design. A student should also consider taking classes in writing, marketing, and business to get an edge in this occupation. Many designers can also gain their experience first-hand by doing an internship. Portfolios are a necessity as a designer, because it shows the client the talent and experience that the designer has. A designer should keep up with the latest software to stay in the competition and not lose the competitive edge with other designers. There are prominent qualities that an employer should look for when considering hiring a designer; these qualities include analytical, artistic, communication, computer, creativity, and time management
This report will be expressing the significance of the Graphic Design industry through finding relevant information that illuminates the strengths and weaknesses that come with working in the industry. Section one will include an industry overview, highlighting facts and figures regarding jobs along with discussion and analysis of Graphic design. Whereas section two will contain the research methodology used and the significance of the types of research necessary to present an accurate report on the industry. Section three encompasses a description of the identified job role, Branding, and will include more in depth and personal research of one creative field within Graphic design. Primary research will make up section four, as it focuses on three existing practitioners along with extensive research into the company and people, along with questions that are constructed conditional to the initial research found. Finally, section five, is a summary and reflection, it will reflect on the information found and illustrate how it may personally affect the possible job roles, it will conclude the report, show what particular aspects of the research are interesting, and summaries the significance of secondary and primary research mentioned in section four.
Average hours and pay characterize these environments, but education continues apace. Few people leave the profession during these years; the hours already devoted in school make it easier to tolerate these few extra workplace indignities. And in about five years one will be leading research teams and turn into people managers as well as project managers. In the art community there is a lot of controversy in distinguishing what the difference between an artist and a designer. Designers are told they are not artist and they need to stop thinking they are artist. When dealing with art and design specific demographics and viewers interpret the messages of each subject in different ways. Art is said to be elucidated and design is said to be understood. Artists usually develop a work of art with the intention of bringing an emotion viewpoint, instinctive feeling, and or state of mind. When you look at an artist work it cannot be limited to just exhibiting one individual thought or just one individual meaning. That is a big difference when it comes to graphic design. Graphic design usually has a very specific goal and point to make. When dealing with graphic design there should not be any room or space for any mixed messages or multiple meanings. The audience of the design should immediately understand the design that the designer created. Art connects to people differently in so many ways. The only reason it connects to people in different ways is only because it is interpreted differently.
My inspirations are focus on mostly the graphics designing, although I have chosen to do applied art and design as a A levels subject I would like to discover the graphic designing in more detailed and depth and in future hope to do an idea which would be a applied art and design the graphics.
