Have you ever wondered who created all the signs and posters and banners you see on the street, in public events, and in public spaces such as museums? Chances are that they were created by a Graphic Designers. Graphic Design is a career where people create visual concepts manually or with the aid of computer software, to communicate ideas that inspire, inform, or gratify consumers. They develop the overall layouts and production designs for advertisements, brochures, magazines, and corporate publications.

The courses required for a graphic design major vary. Some colleges and universities require a 4 year degree program that will provide students with technical and artistic skills needed in that field. Those courses may include typography, book design, drawing, advanced graphic design, computer assisted design, digital media, and photography. Other courses that may be required are specific to a of study; those courses may include principles of design and color, desktop publishing, two dimensional and three dimensional design, graphics for the web, digital photography, and multimedia and animation.
