1.0 Introduction To design a graphic image, it is important to incorporate various kinds of visual elements to the particular image such as posters, banners, advertisements, billboards and so on in order to create an image which can represent a situation and at the same time deliver some key points or messages to viewer about situation. Each of these visual elements plays their own role in indicating some signs or delivering some implicit messages to the viewer. The types of visual elements used in graphic design are point, line, form and shape, movement, space, pattern and texture; these elements has been applied in advertisements, painting of pictures, packaging of manufactured products, book covering, gift wrappers and so on. These elements has become so useful to people because they are not only used in attracting them, but they are also used in creating awareness to them by highlighting or promoting important issues or events. For example, when the members of Ministry of Health are worried about the widespread of dengue fever, they will display banners to create awareness to people so that they will take precautions. These kinds of banners contain some of the visual elements that are combined to create distinct typefaces and various kinds of colours and shapes, which suits with the intended theme. Another example is displaying banners of the important of blood donation. One of the most important about the uses of visual elements is in the teaching and learning process in kindergarten, schools (primary and secondary), colleges and universities. Since the advancement of digital imaging, visual elements have been widely used to create slideshows for teachers and lecturers to teach their students so that it will be easy for th... ... middle of paper ... ...n also be used in typography. It is a creative idea in using designing typography to represent movement. To design a typeface that represents a movement the typeface should be in a diagonal position, indicating that it is creating a movement. For example, refer to Figure 30 below. Figure 30. Words in diagonal position creates movement Furthermore, this element can be helpful in artwork pertaining to fluid movement. One good example is painting or drawing water waves of seas and oceans; this kind of artwork is associated with another element called lines. Refer to Figure 31 below. Figure 31. Using lines to draw water waves creates movement
Artists such as Georgia O’Keeffe use the visual elements of art such as line, shape, and color to help create the variety of styles and shapes in an artwork. Georgia O’Keeffe’s, Radiator Building at Night, gives a great example of how the visual elements of art play a huge role in her painting.
Graphic Design has been around for generations giving it a vibrant history. For this, the case study was going to specifically look at the London Underground. Starting from the 1920 when the avant-garde posters were created, all the way to 1940 during the Second World War. The idea behind this study is to see how the design has changed depending on the time period. The time periods this case study will observe are 1920’s, 1930’s and finally 1940’s. This will give a variety of posters to discuss. In addition, we will look at how the design embodies the look, mood, aspiration, and technology, historical, social and
Different graphics are used to bring media to life for example if film is set in the old days then you are not going to use futuristic graphics, you may even want to add a black and white filter to add to the vintage feel of it. Graphics are essential for manipulating and creating the perfect environment for the media to be set.
Visual learning and decision making are being promoted through art education because students are exposed to different forms of art every day. Technology forces students to take in more visual information through cues or pictures (Lynch). Dr. Kerry Freeman, Head of Art and Design at Northern Illinois University, stated that, “Parents need to be aware that children learn a lot more from graphic sources now than in the past…Children need ...
Color is an important resource in visual communication. Color has many functions. It can be used to classify people, places and things. The colors of a flag can designate a nation. Corporations and universities use color to distinguish identity. With maps, colors can distinguish water, land, etc. They can mark and identify separate elements. The colors become icons. Color can convey an interpersonal message without language. This can be expressed in the colors that we wear such as ‘the power tie’ or colors that indicate safety and warning. C...
Different Visual Illustrations in Perception How can visual illusions illustrate top down processes in perception?
Promoting a product in a way that appeals to the targeted audience is an aspect that dominates the formation of adverts. To achieve this objective, advertisers use images and words in a creative and convincing manner. This is because the overall effect of advertising is persuading the targeted audience to consume the product. Visual appeal is an aspect common in the two visual texts. For example, using ladies with good looks to appeal to the audience’s emotion is common in them. The two visual texts also communicate using pictures and words. Size is also used in both advertisements to emphasize different parts of the texts.
Ways of effectively communicating information to the use can be accomplished by different methods (verbal, images, tactile). Directions should be legible by having contrast between essential information and nonessential infor...
Many do not consider where images they see daily come from. A person can see thousands of different designs in their daily lives; these designs vary on where they are placed. A design on a shirt, an image on a billboard, or even the cover of a magazine all share something in common with one another. These items all had once been on the computer screen or on a piece of paper, designed by an artist known as a graphic designer. Graphic design is a steadily growing occupation in this day as the media has a need for original and creative designs on things like packaging or the covers of magazines. This occupation has grown over the years but still shares the basic components it once started with. Despite these tremendous amounts of growth,
The four characteristics of the creative process are: Shape and form, Line, Space,Color (Mayesky, M (2015) p.46-47) This artwork reflects on color because they used primary colors and secondary colors such as violet, orange and blue. The type of shape and form is organic free form and geometric because they used circles, squares and rectangles to created this picture. Space refers to the areas above, below, between, within and around an object. For example: The tree in photo 3-6 had height and width. Young children learn to created space by size and placement of shapes. Lines have a direction like horizontal and vertical in this pictures the houses have straight lines. (Mayesky, M (2015)
These Visual elements can include colour, shading, panel layout, perspective and lettering style (Shwarz, 2006,59). In my graphic novel Let’s go to the Park, I used images with an illustrative feel to create the vision I had in my mind when writing the text and wanted to express that to the reader. A younger target audience is clear by the images and written text used in the graphic novel. The visual element of lettering style is noted through out the text with a different font used in the title to attract a younger audience. For example, the title is big, bold and the font is childlike or hand written in its appeal.
Computer Graphics Design has changed in many ways over the years. In the beginning there were 2-Dimensional shapes such as you would see in the game “Pong.” Many years later, graphics improved, changing from 2-Dimensional shapes into 3-Dimensional characters, which are standard in video games, movies, and television today. There are many different image types for graphics: 2D computer graphics, pixel art, vector graphics, 3D computers graphics, and computer animation.
The elements of visual merchandising should comprise the artistic bend that should completely define the orderliness of the store. Every optical dispensary of the store should benefit from these elements from good visual merchandising. The store should develop an imitable ‘visual sense’ through these elements.
This source is was useful and reliable to my research because it stated the importance of knowing the basics, without them you would not be able to create an amazing image. Many of the topics discussed in this book will be presented in my paper.
I was interested particularly in doing graphics design and the visual communication that I was inspired by combining images phrases and ideas to illustrate to the target and audience so that they would impact and react on those kind of illustrated for e.g. the billboards, poster, the product packaging and lots of more advertisement there. There are lots of elements on different types of media that I have already mentioned but there are also examples like Logos which really encourage people and make those people to think about logos. There are also lots of books designs and magazines advertisements thinking from these graphics design use of socially, morally ethical thinking mainly it happens when people do mostly think about positively and negatively so it would affect people’s mind and they would think more in detailed meaning which is called graphical visual communication, to demonstrate the recycle logo which would be advertise the recycling of ‘trees hunger and suffer do recycle paper’.
