For the past few years, design thinking has made its breakthrough on education, business, and design fields. Design thinking is basically a new interactive process of thinking, or problem-solving method for the resolution of problems. Which differs from traditional design approaches in specific ways. It involves more creative and user-centered design approach.
‘You cannot hold a design in your hand. It is not a thing. It is a process. A system. A way of thinking.’
Bob Gill, Graphic Design as a Second Language. However, design thinking is present in each stage of journey from the brief until the finished work. Furthermore, different solutions can also be produced for any given brief and these can differ widely in the levels of creativity,

The methods used by designers to generate and refine creative ideas, the key considerations that help shape them and the feedback and review elements that allow design teams to learn from each job and contribute to future commissions. It should not come as a big surprise that human thinking could be directed in more than one way when there are different ends in mind. Basically design thinking is primarily about the path, which is being distinguished from its more knowable way of thinking, which is scientific thinking. Simply because design thinking is focusing more on creating the artifacts of an evolving culture unlike scientific thinking’s path that leads toward the discovery of fundamental knowledge, a rigorous process of sifting experience into facts. On the other hand, scientific thinking, which is focused on understanding things better, is necessarily tied to design thinking’s project of making better things. Contrary to scientific thinking, design thinking depends on the reliable to pursue a preferred future that is desirable, possible, useful, and potentially wonderful end …show more content…
Hence, at this stage it is to explore and experiments with models, dummies and storyboards so that we can portray a glimpse of how the design will look like in reality, not to mention this method also can be used to convey ideas so that they can be understood in this context.
Implementation
Lastly, this stage looks at how ideas come to life through production. Therefore, implementation must ensure that design details are put into effect and that the client is satisfied with the final product.
Unlike analytical thinking, which is associated with the breaking down of ideas, design thinking is more likely a creative process based on the building up of ideas. While analytical approaches focus on narrowing the design choices, Design thinking focuses on going broad, at least during the early stages of the process.
In design thinking, designers do not make any early judgments about the quality of ideas. As a result, this minimizes the fear of failure and maximizes input and participation in the ideation (brainstorming) and prototype phases. However, the infamous phrase “Think outside the box” also can be categories as “Wild ideas”. Since this style of thinking is believed to lead to creative solutions that would not have emerged
DEVELOPMENT. In developing the PCA, test author used 2 kinds of creativeness, one depending on J. P. Guilford's idea of divergent (versus.convergent) thinking along with the other depending on Teresa Amabile's inclusion of social and atmosphere factors in creativeness. Following Guilford, test author defines divergent production as 'the generation of options to satisfy specified broad requirements' (examiner's manual, p. 2). Both divergent-thinking subtests apply Guilford's concept by getting students to (a) complete eight pictures depending on incomplete figures, and (b) on two separate exercises of 20 geometric figures, identify just as much groups of three or higher figures as possible depending on some common feature. The eight completed sketches are each acquired for four from six divergent techniques recognized by Guilford (sensitivity to problems, originality, redef...

“Design is the method of putting form and content together. Design, just as art, has multiple definitions, there is no single definition. Design can be art. Design can be aesthetics. Design is so simple, that’s why it is so complicated.”(Rand, Paul)

‘Lost in translation’ happens more frequently during the rate of globalization. The misreading of design languages is not just an issue among layperson, designers also been affected during the international cooperation. Naturally, there are gaps existing between different cultures (Jones, 2011). For example, the masterpieces of Japanese director Akira Kurosawa considered as the portraits of ideological conflicts and exhibits individual’s sacrifices for feudalism. But on their Western re-making versions, the heroism and anarchism were been emphasized instead. Just like the differences between Samurai and cowboy, design languages and signals are preforming in different way from east to west.
Often, creativity phase plays critical role in providing good opportunity to familiarize the client with the team work. Moreover, they share potential ideas and proposals to reduce cost; without affecting quality or functionality negatively. Accordingly, there will be a base of ranked and classified ideas and views.
Brainstorming was born in 1939, which is when Alex F. Osborn began developing ways for creative problem solving. While many people have their own ideas on what brainstorming is from graphs to make a point or writing thoughts down on a sheet of paper and trying to figure them out. After doing my research I found there is more to brainstorming than just the obvious things. Brainstorming is a way of thinking up solutions, ideas or new ways to express something or solve a problem. It can be a difficult process for many people because they may not be able to find a solution because they may feel a fear of others opinions of their solution for solving the problem or simply because the problem may be just too difficult and there is no solution to solving the problem. In 1939, a team led by advertising executive Alex F. Osborn coined the term “brainstorm.”
My main thesis is that, within the framework of culture and design being dependent of each other, contemporary culture has influenced and promoted experimentation and the creation of new technologies and techniques in design, and therefore, defined the visual language and style of today’s society. In this sense, the word “experimentation” will be used as the process of innovation and discovery of new methods applied in the design field, to create and develop new solutions to emerging problems. This exploration will be conducted ...
Design thinking is a process for practical, creative resolution of problems or issues that looks for an improved future result. It is the essential ability to combine empathy, creativity and rationality to meet user needs and drive business success. Unlike analytical thinking, design thinking is a creative process based around the building up of ideas. There are no judgments early on the design thinking (Simon, 1969, p. 55). Design thinking includes imagination and reason, a combination of convergent and divergent thought, and creativity. Design thinking might be thought of as dialectic, or conversation. It involves design wisdom, judgment, and knowledge. Lastly, design thinking is skill (Hegeman, 2008).
Design has major impact with concerns to environmental qualities. This field is a direct study of the relationship between behaviouristic actions of its inhabitants. Designers constantly interact with people and communicate to solve the needs of their clients regardless of large or small scale projects. Analysis is key in combining creativity with managerial design solutions. These outside-of-the-box designers have the ability to create beautiful, safe and functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces using common factors, designing for communities as well as,
This is one of the types of thinking styles. Creative thinking involves creating something new or original. It involves the skills of flexibility, originality, fluency, elaboration, brainstorming, modification, imagery, associative thinking, attribute listing, metaphorical thinking, and forced relationships. The aim of creative thinking is to stimulate curiosity and promote divergence. When an individual learns to expand their way of thinking to incorporate metaphorical ideas, they will spark the creative thinking process...
Knowledge is generated through critical and creative thinking. Creative thinking is something new or original that is created with value. Critical thinking is a type of thinking that questions assumptions and validates or invalidates a current belief or something that is said to be previously true. Knowledge is created through the culmination of generally accepted assumptions and creativity. How do you separate general assumptions and creativity? These two types of thinking can be easily separated in regards to concrete or realistic ideas compared to abstract or original ideas however to generate new, acceptable knowledge critical and creative thinking must interact together. The questioning of established beliefs with the creation of unorthodox new ideas will expose the most beneficial knowledge for the world.
The authors statement regarding how creative and critical thinking can affect our lives is a very powerful one and it should be. Creative and critical thinking can have a very powerful impact on our lives. People that use these two aspects of thinking are more likely to achieve long and short term goals and make better life decisions, such as the type of career to pursue. They live by a moral code that is well thought out and created to fit the person that they are. They are also more likely to think for themselves and have beliefs that have been closely examined. These are just a few of the examples of what thinking creatively and critically can help a person achieve, but it is clear that they can help a person live a more enriched life and
Brainstorming is a technique that is widely used in big corporates now a day. Brainstorming is generally used to come up with ideas for critical problems. Bringing up these thoughts will take the topic to a next level of thinking. This concept was developed by Mr. Alex Osborn in 1941.(brainstorming) Many researchers were contributed their developments since then.
