The Company The name of the company that I will be reviewing is called Blockbuster Video which is a video rental shop. The branch that is described is a branch in Greenwich; this is where my work placement took place, so I have good intelligence of their current ICT system. The purpose of Blockbuster is to retail different types of media products to the customers, e.g. Video Cassettes, DVD's, Games Console Games and other entertainment products. This company is using ICT as much as it can to make the company save time and to be successful. Database System The main feature of ICT used at Blockbuster is a database system, which has been specifically built for the company. The database system is very helpful to the company because it can calculate fines for late returns, determine which products have already been hired and also create graphs on the most popular hires so that the company can order more of the stock and they would get more custom this way. A feature of this system is that it can print out letters for fines and also it is made quicker because mail merge feature is used for this. The feature of the database is the cash registration which is linked with the database. They are linked so data doesn't have to be inputted into the system twice. Electronic Mail (E-Mail) One of the other features the company uses is e-mail that is also used for information and communication. The purpose of e-mail is almost the same as the fax machine but this is sent through the Internet. The way the e-mail works is that its sends the attachment on a page or a page to a server which is processed the e-mail provider after this has been sent to the server of the e-mail account holder it then passes the recipients server the message then stores itself in to the account so that the account user can view the e-mail. Blockbuster use E-mailing to send e-mails to their customers to inform
After watching Charlie Rose’s interview with Jim Collins; where Collins explains his recent book How the Mighty Fall, presented me with an opportunity to reflect over recent companies that were staples in my childhood and early adult memories and now are non-existent. In this paper, I will look, analyze and relate Blockbuster Video and their history to Jim Collins’ five stages of an organization.

The current CEO of Netflix has done an amazing job so far, becoming one of the biggest streaming media providers in the world. With myself being appointed to the CEO position, I have impressive shoes to fill. Netflix has made some serious changes since the startup in 1997. We are now the leading streaming media provider of the world, moving our business into over 130 new markets worldwide, reaching new international growth records. As CEO, I will drive change, identify the current opportunities and threats, and identify our current strengths and weaknesses, based on my prior evaluations throughout these last eight weeks. How will I specifically drive change? I will drive change through innovation based on new strategies and ideas.

Hulu is in the video streaming service industry and it is a joint venture company because it was founded by The Walt Disney Company, Comcast Corp and Twenty First Century Fox Inc. Since its launch in March 2008, Hulu has gained over 12 million subscriptions and over 1 billion in revenues. Hulu’s business model was to try and replicate the cable industry. As per Hulu’s website, the company offers hundreds and thousands of hours of current season programming. Unlike their competitor, Netflix, Hulu is the only streaming service that offers current season programming from the Top U.S. broadcast networks the day after the new episodes are aired. Hulu offers a standard package of $7.99 per month and a commercial free premium package of $11.99

7-Eleven is best described as being a joint ownership. 7-Eleven does exactly what some joint ownerships do where a business creates local business with investors in a foreign market. 7-Eleven put their stores in several countries and has done with many countries dream of doing, and they have entered market in a foreign country and have become so submerged that many people do not even know that they are not an American company.
Reed Hastings, co-founder of Netflix headquartered in Los Gatos, CA, began the company’s operations in 1997 after receiving an enormous late charge from a movie rental he returned long overdue. However, Hastings had the desire to be different than traditional movie outlets; whereas, customers had to drive to the location, pay a certain amount for each movie they rented, and were given a deadline in which to return the movie. Instead of using a method established by other video markets “to attract customers to a retail location, Netflix offered home delivery of DVDs through the mail” which eventually led to a booming business towards streaming forms of entertainment (Shih, Kaufman, & Spinola, 2009, p. 3). Direct and indirect competitors, along with outside obstacles, to a greater extent present a financial threat for Netflix. As a result, Netfl...
Video Rental and Streaming has partly been of the most significant avenues of the general home entertainment industry in the United States for many years. It promotes constructive development through various channels such as Information Technology, Public Multimedia and it also has a huge impact on people’s lives and their entertainment on demand. One of the best companies which provide this high-advanced service is Netflix, Inc (Netflix). It was incorporated on August 29th in 1997 in California by Reed Hastings & Marc Randolph; listed on NASDAQ as NFLX in 2002. Netflix is the world’s largest Internet subscription service streaming television shows and movies with over 40 million members in 40 countries (Netflix, 2013).
As responsiveness increases, the convenience store chain is exposed to greater uncertainty. A convenience store chain can improve responsiveness to this uncertainty using one of the following strategies, especially for fresh and fast foods:
This essay will detail some of the ways production companies are co-existing in the blockbuster verses the independent production companies both from the production methodology and the business aspect of the film industry. There have been some very interesting “marriages” in the past few years when it comes to the co-existence, and some crossover of roles in the mix. The essay will examine the genre of horror to demonstrate the processes.
Jeff Bezos founded Amazon.com in 1994. This time period is noted for having thousands of companies come into existence at rapid succession with business models centered on the internet. These businesses were extraordinarily risky, and in a new unproven area of business. Investors were reluctant to part with money and most companies folded almost immediately. Some companies were successful and found huge profits. Amazon.com was one of these. With so many companies coming in and going out almost right away, Amazon stood out amongst the crowd. Much of the success the company found can be attributed to the company’s founder Jeff Bezos.
Electronic Mail, a means of communication that is growing at a very rapid rate. In this paper, I will write about introduction of e-mail, the advantage and disadvantage of e-mail, mailing lists, sending an e-mail message, sending attachments, e-mail improvement, and security features. Introduction of Electronic Mail Electronic mail (E-mail) has become popular and easy way of communication in this decade. E-mail is a method of sending and receiving document or message from one person to another. E-mail is not only replacement for postal mail and telephones, and also it is a new medium. E-mail send plain text, images, audio, spreadsheets, computer programs can attach to an e-mail message. Using the e-mail, you must have a computer on a network. The computer must require a modem and phone line. Sending and receiving e-mail needs an e-mail program. Every e-mail user requires an e-mail address. This e-mail address is similar to a postal address. E-mail address is written as username@domain, for instance, PCLEE@juno.com. The username is used for sending and receiving e-mail.
