7-Eleven is best described as being a joint ownership. 7-Eleven does exactly what some joint ownerships do where a business creates local business with investors in a foreign market. 7-Eleven put their stores in several countries and has done with many countries dream of doing, and they have entered market in a foreign country and have become so submerged that many people do not even know that they are not an American company.

For example, in cities like Los Angeles, Houston, New York, Chicago and San Francisco I would make all stores bigger and widen the selection. Most people like myself go to 7-Eleven if they are either on the road or just need something quick. If I was a key exec, I would want us to be more than that. I would try to tap into the demographic that goes to Walgreens and Rite Aid and become even more of a convenience store. I would introduce new products that become synonymous with our brand in the mold of the 7-Eleven

The first store opened in Winter Haven, Florida and to this day Publix has expanded to well over 1,000 stores in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee. The supermarket chain now boasts over $25 billion in sales annually (Mujtaba and Johnson, 2012). To withstand the test of time and develop such a stronghold on the market, Publix has excelled in its global business community or macroenvironment, as well as its market environment or microenvironment.
The first strategy they should build on is their brand name, Papa Johns. They might not be number one in what is a very large market place but number three is not bad. People know the name Papa John but it is still not as prevalent as Pizza Hut or Domino's. Granted it has not been the marketplace near as long and does not have the brand loyalty of the top two but keep in mind where they have come in a much shorter period. Most of the brand loyalty of the top two comes from habit of repeat business and remember that habits can be broken. To do so you have to put your brand out in the eye of the consumer to remind them that they have options. It takes only one chance to start a new habit. By taking advantage of the brand status you do hold is how you grow your customer base.

Values, artifacts, and ideas are also part of culture (p57). With globalization there is the integration of these cultural aspects, as well as language, social movements, and ideas throughout the world (Schaefer, 2009, p.20). Internationalization helps with this integration. Internationalization is the process of planning and implementing products and services so that they can easily be adapted to specific local languages and cultures (Linfo, 2006). Numerous American retail firms have expanded to other countries. Many have been quite successful due to their internationalization. However, failure to study the culture, retail practices, and consumer market of the country they intend to expand to can be quite costly. Although Home Depot is one of the world’s largest home improvement stores, their expansion to Chile cost them enormous financial loss, resulting in their divestment (Bianchi & Ostale, 2006, section 1, para3). This paper will look at successful international expansion of Home Depot stores, analyze what mistakes were made in Chile, and make suggestions of what could have been done differently.

Staffing Confidence by the market in Kmart is created by the achievements of its staff and management. With the turn-around strategy in place, new blood has been put into the top management structures. In any renewal there will be retrenchment as unprofitable stores are closed. This can be used as an opportunity to retain and move high performing staff to where they are needed and to get rid of non-performing staff. Anderson the chairperson of Kmart is well supported by Wall Street and the board of Directors. These new staff members enter the company with needed skills to address problems in certain areas that previously were poorly managed such as inventory control and merchandising. There are 250 non-performing stores who have already been identified as being more cost effective to close than continue with running costs. This concentration of effort will enable focus on key areas Technology Kmart has already invested in good retailing systems. The system can be use to control inventory, supplier payments, track customer buying and monitor income versus profit margins across all stores. Research and Development The planning department is well established and in cross-functional to provide various perspective. The planning department to ensure that strategies at all levels are executed can further use the access to past data and knowledge of changes in buying patterns. Burger king has been in existence for 60 years and is growing rapidly in many other countries. Burger King delivers quality, great tasting food which satisfies ones need or wants and captures the value of customers even before the first purchase is made. Burger King has products very unique from other competitors such as KFC and McDonalds. The difference is that Burger King does not limit their customers in terms of what they eat. For example, when I spoke to a customer also big fan of Burger King, he mentioned that the sauces are left public for the customer to decide on which sauce to have rather than giving the customer one kind of sauce such as McDonalds and KFC. The cold beverage is also self-help service in which customers can help themselves to a bottomless drink. This way the customer feels free to choose what satisfies the need or want.
The company that we chose for the course Emerging markets is FamilyMart. FamilyMart is a convenience store which is open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week in means that they are also open on national holidays. FamilyMart offers many varieties in food, beverages, hygienic items, magazines, office supplies and basic medicines. The size of the stores of FamilyMart varies as they have big stores and small stores. The smaller stores are more for people who want to buy something small (like a bottle of water), and their bigger stores are for grocery shopping. Next to FamilyMart you have convenience stores with a similar concept named 7-Eleven and Lawson, which are their competitors. Their slogan is;
