Maxwell Anopolsky Emig English 10/Honors - 2 (2) 6 March 2024 The Denver Airport Conspiracy In the USA, from JFK to 9/11, the rise of conspiracy has served as a hot talking point that science fiction fans and the paranoid have enjoyed for years. One notable project within the heart of the West, the Denver Airport, has been subjected to a slew of conspiracy theories over the years, from the Illuminati, to the devil, to lizard people, to the end of the world, all connected to the white peaks of the busy inner workings of the airport since ground was first broken. The first conspiracy theory focused on the Denver airport is the suspicious construction of the airport in the first place. Today, it is the second-largest airport in the world and the largest in the USA. However, the planned 2.8 billion dollar airport not only went over budget in construction by an insurmountable 2 billion dollars but also took an additional 16 months to be opened, which doesn't even begin to account for the massive budgeting issues. This is where the first conspiracy theory was founded. It is thought that this excess spending was not by some mistake and that this airport has many more layers underground that are closed to the public eye. With a budget that ended up costing an additional 40% of the total estimated price, this caught the attention of the American people for good reason.
