The author of this article is mainly suggesting that gaining knowledge from higher education institution would not be sufficient for a nursing student if critical thinking and academic writing, considered the foundation of all academic discipline, are not satisfied.
The author has defined critical thinking in line with nursing that it is a critical activity and a vital part to clinical nursing practice. Logical and consistent thinking and taking existing current information while assessing holes and weakness without bias and prejudice would be a great deal of weapon to battle in the clinical settings. Academic writing on the other hand have several definitions but most common is that it has set of rules in a specific context with regards to its writing and style conventions. The author also presented the academic literacy model which might start to bridge the gap of antithetical sciences.
