The project was to create an online home for all of my content. This website is meant to be a place when future employers can access my resume, work history, projects, teaching philosophy and digital tools I use in the classroom. A website meets the ISTE 5 standards a, b, c and d because it allows me as a teacher to continually improve my use of digital tools to expand my professional practice not only to my students but to other teachers and members of the community. This portal of information can be used to help students gather information and explore applications they may have never heard of from other teachers. It will allow me to share podcasts and videos that my co-workers and community can use to help them during they lessons. I able …show more content…
Using services like youtube or schooltube to host videos that students will be able to access on their own time to review in class materials will be essential in my classroom. Students who may have special needs will be able to review materials in classrooms in multiple formats on my websites such as pdfs, podcasts and videos providing them with many different ways to consume our assignments and the goals I want them to achieve. This will allow students who may not be able to focus within the classroom due to distractions from other students to take in the assignments at their own pace in a format they feel comfortable with. Students who prefer to listen and instructions will be able to follow along with a podcast, while students who like to watch videos are able to keep up with me in short videos going over the assignments, and lastly students who like to read will be able to find the information in a pdf. These tools are designed to help students learn new information in the way they want to. Using technology such as a website to provide students with an organized overview of the classroom will allow them to experience learning in the digital age like never

Interactive textbooks that have youtube clips and wifi interfacing are innovations that will help students. My mission is to use my degree in Curriculum Instruction with Instructional Technology with my classroom. In doing so I am committed to being consistent, agile, reliable, and accessible to all. I want to continue to teach through technology while encouraging creative and critical thinking. While using chromebooks in the classroom the students will be able to complete online assignments that will be assigned throughout the year. For the students that need extra help they will be able to work on individual assignments. The programs that I am using this year are Prodigy and Mobymax. Prodigy allows students to play and learn math to strengthen skills that they are lacking. Mobymax allows the students to see how they are progressing in all subject
It is helpful to connect the learning to a student’s prior experience. Teachers also need to consider the role of technology in their classroom.
I did not set out to be a teacher nor did I set out to be a leader but today I am both a teacher and a leader in educational technology. Through my studies in the Educational Technology program at the University of Alaska Southeast I have created a solid foundation for that leadership role. My portfolio shows what I have learned in educational technology and my growth as a technology leader. Each artifact was chosen to emphasize what I believe is most important in education for me. They show my commitment to professional growth, my dedication in supporting student learning, and my belief in the strength of collaboration.

Teachers can use on-line resources for instruction, as a platform to connect with their students and other professionals and to self reflect and monitor the effectiveness
In order to begin discussing the use of Web 2.0 tools in education one must first learn what Web 2.0 is and why it can be very beneficial to education. According to Michael Simkins and Randy Schultz (2010), Web 2.0 refers to a variety of easy-to-use online resources that make everyday work and communication on the World Wide Web more practical for almost anyone. Some examples of Web 2.0 tools include blogs, wikis, networking sites, collaborative tagging sites as well as file sharing sites. Currently there are hundreds of thousands of Web 2.0 tools available on the Internet. Michele Knobel and DanaWilber (2009) point out that “Outside school, many students are accomplished authors, filmmakers, animators, and recording artists.” The use of Web 2.0 tools can make this possible beginning at an early childhood education level.
Technology properly used in the classroom has many advantages to a student’s learning. Technology can help students become more involved in their own learning process, which is not seen in the traditional classroom. It allows them to master basic skills at their own rate rather than being left behind. Teachers and students alike can connect to real life situations by using technology in the classroom; this can also help to prepare students for real world situations. Technology can be used to motivate students as well as to offer more challenging opportunities. It can also be used as a visualization tool to keep students interested in the subject that is being taught. When technology is used effectively, students have the opportunity to develop skills that they may not get without the use of technology (Cleaver, 2011). Assessing and monitoring students is easier on the teacher because of the ability to use technology in the classroom. When technology is used correctly it offers limitless resources to a classroom atmosphere.
Even using the internet has a source of information for the students or has a tutorial for students who are struggling. There are so many ways that classrooms can benefit from computers. The first thing I looked at was how teachers were being affected by computers. Integrating technology into your teaching can change the way you deliver content to your classes. Not only are teachers affected by having to do grades and attendance by computers now, they also have to worry about teaching their students about computers and integrating it into the daily lesson plans.
Mission Statement: As an educator I will provide for students the opportunity to make a positive difference in their lives to help them accomplish unexpected goals. I will enhance learning to support my students in achieving their highest potential by integrating technology into the curriculum. I will integrate conceptual technology learning techniques that will implement concrete knowledge of technology that will emphasize mastery of understanding. Through committed support from educators, faculty, staff, parents, and the community, I will advance learning to support my students. This will allow students to become confident, creative, motivated, technology-ready students. I will provide leadership to achieve these standards of excellence each student deserves for a technology driven society.
The traditional education environment is starting to implement new ways to teach students with the rapid development of technology. One strategy is the use of the internet to communicate, listen, and share ideas among students and professors alike; specifically the use of the internet realm in wikis, blogs, and podcasts. Blogs are either a website in itself or a part of a website where something like an interactive journal is being used; a person can write about anything they wish, link or show images, and decide whether other people can comment on the blog entry. Wikis are websites or webpages dedicated to providing information about a topic and can be edited by either the members of that site. Podcasts are digital files in the form of audio, video, or both that can be downloaded online onto computers, MP3 players, certain phones, and many more devices. Wikis, blogs, and podcasts could positively alter the educational format of lectures for students.
As time goes by, advances in technology will provide more and more avenues for learning by way of the computer. The Internet has opened the doors of the world and unleashed limitless possibilities in research and education. It may be only a matter of time when the classroom is brought online to all children and attending a school classroom outside the home is a thing of the past. Looking back over the last 20 years, I never would have imagined that computers would come this far and impact our lives so much. Just imagine where they will be 20 years from now.
students prefer technology because they believe that it makes learning more interesting and fun. They especially like laptops and tablets. Subjects that students deem challenging or boring can become more interesting with virtual lessons, through a video, or when using a tablet. Technology occupies an important place within students’ lives. When they are not in school, just about everything that they do is connected in some way to technology. By integrating technology into the classroom, teachers are changing the way they used to teach (lectures six hours a day) and providing students with the tools that will take them into the 21st century. One of the characteristics of the modern classroom is collaboration and technology helps to empower it. With classroom technology students can collaborate with other students and their teachers in and outside of the classroom quickly and easily.
