Have you ever just met someone and feel as though you have some odd connection with them? Well, I have experienced this feeling by going out of my comfort zone and interviewing someone I would not have thought I had much in common with. I chose to interview one of my coworkers. I was really fascinated to learn about how much she has been through over the course of her life. It was a lot of fun getting to know her, and being invited to such a delicious dinner while I asked her thousands of questions about her life. It’s fascinating to see how strong a person can be to endure so many trials and tribulations, but still continue to overcome them and live life to the fullest. I've gone back and reassessed my current relationships, whether it's with my family,friends, or a significant other and learned a whole lot about my own relationships. During other parts of this project I really got to delve deeper into different relationship dynamics for various other people, like when I interviewed my mother and Mrs. Davenport, or reading various other texts and connecting them to mine like the relationship Stanley and Stella had in streetcar named desire or the family bonds from the deck reading and how they apply to my own family. Everyone relationships and bonds to others is different and no one had the same connection to each other, but throughout time it's noticeable that the relationships we have been more alike than we think.

The second family that I interviewed was the Lyles family. Both Bro. Scotty, the father, and Mrs. Yolanda, the mother, participated in the interview and three of their children were in the room. Bro. Scotty was born and raised in Alba, Texas on the very same tree farm that he owns and operates today; he is also a deacon at our church. However, Mrs. Yolanda was born and raised in Guatemala. As a child she was raised Catholic, and is part of a large and growing family. She is one of eight children. I interviewed one of my best friends from high school because we grew up in similar cultures and I wanted to see how her views aligned with mine. She’s also in a nursing program so I thought that would make it interesting.
I had an interview with my partner Her name is Juliet ,she is from Africa ,she moved to the United States with her husband and two children about 3 years ago . She is glad to come to the United States now she is living in the city of Fredericksburg with her husband and children ,she lives in the apartment, so asked her what do you like and what you do not like about your home ? She says I like my home because It is a good community and sometime i do not like it because i live at the second floor af the apartment and my children play at home it make my neighbor upset . She says I would like to buy house in the future and i would like to move from this Apartment . She says she has two kids, one boy and one girl and she is married ,her cousin also lives in the United States , most of her relatives live in her home country and she misses her mom more than anybody else.
The subject of this paper is Liz, a 52-year old, 1.5 generation female immigrant from Hong Kong. What this means is that she immigrated to the United States when she was a child, around 7-years old (Feliciano Lec. 1/4/2016). As a child of a family that consists of five siblings and two parents that did not speak any English prior to immigrating, the focus of this paper will be on the legal processes that the family went through to become legal immigrants and the various factors that aided in her path towards assimilation.
The focus of this paper is to compare and contrast a well elder and a frail elder while using Occupational Therapy Practice Framework language. For this assignment I chose to conduct a semi structured interview using the Canadian Occupational performance Measure (COPM) to gather information about my chosen elders perceived problems and priorities. For this assignment I will be using pseudonyms in order to protect the privacy of both individuals.
For my informational interview I spoke with a nurse who has experience working on a medical surgical unit in a hospital setting. She has been a nurse for 10 years. She also has her bachelors degree in nursing. I started my interview by introducing myself and explaining what my assignment was about, and how she could help me tremendously with answering some questions regarding her nursing career, and what she does as a medical surgical nurse.
The individual I interviewed is Dan Rach, he is one of my co-workers. He was born on November 19, 1942. Dan is the second born in his family out of five children. Unfortunately three of his siblings died shortly after they were born. His oldest brother is six years older than him and his sister is six years younger than him. Dan was raised in a typical Irish Catholic Family in a typical Irish neighborhood, on the south side of Chicago. His father was a businessman, and his mother was a stay at home mom. At age forty-two Dan’s father died leaving his mother at time age thirty-six, to raise the children and provide support. His mother immediately had to start taking classes in order to continue selling insurance.
I interviewed Jamie who is a hemodialysis nurse. She has been working in this field for the past 13 years and loves doing it. I enjoyed learning about Jamie's field and after doing the interview with her find that her field is very intresting but probably not the field that I would enjoy the most.
I chose to interview Kevin LaFlamme that works at a startup called, Lola. He is a backend software engineer mainly working with Python. I was excited about the interview because their business model of a 24/7 live travel agent in a mobile app is something I never could have imagined. Luckily, he knew where to take off once I asked the questions so it was a lot of talking on his part about what he did, going in depth about what I asked. Kevin is from Boston, Massachusetts which happens to be where Lola is located.
As we begin Mary seems to be a tad nervous but her perky personality soon takes over as interview starts. Understanding that Mrs.Kandahari has been in and out of the nursing field throughout her life, she has gone through much nervousness and worries from working in a hospital, but seemingly it's all worth it. As we go on chatting, her face lights up every time she mentions her times studying and being in intern at Fremont's local hospital. " I love nursing, it's my biggest passion. I care about people's well being”, she explains with a big smile. We can tell right from the start that this brilliant brunette has nursing in her, it runs through her veins. However, chasing her dreams wasn't easy for Ms.Kandahari, she has come a long way to get where she is today.
At first, I had a hard time trying to find an older person to interview, because I did not want to interview my family since I’ve lived with them my whole life. While I was getting ready to interview my friend’s parent, I started reading the questions to myself, and I realized that I do not know the answer to them if I ask my parents. I chose to interview my mother because I have never sat down with her and have a serious deep conversation with her. I realized that I am closer to her than my father, but I’m not as close as I thought I was with her, and it broke my heart when I finally realized that. At the age she is, I finally realized that I have been taking advantage of her and I refused to live this way with her. This interview was emotional for both of us, and it also brought us closer to each other. I am so grateful and happy I did this interview with her.
As I ponder whom I could possibly interview, my wife suggests, what do you think of interviewing my dad? This immediately appeals to me but there are challenges. He is living in a VA nursing home with early onset dementia. He also has a hard time hearing due to his injuries roughly forty years ago. This would make a phone interview extremely difficult. Instead, I start to formulate a similar idea, what if I interviewed my wife on her experiences as the child of a disabled veteran? I move forward with this idea with a dose of apprehension. I don’t want my wife to relive any pain. During the interview I find just the opposite to happen.
Finding the right person to do my interview was difficult. I wanted to interview someone who are passionate in their field. The person that I found was Lawrence Cariaga. He is a dear friend of mind and motivated me to never give up on my dreams and keep shooting for what you believe in. He is a passionate in his work duty and tries his best to help those are in need.
