Recommended: An essay on setting goals
I have been faced with many obstacles in my life, the most significant obstacle that I have had to overcome is graduating from high school. The obstacle was the most significant because it was it was a huge achievement and taught me valuable life lessons. The lessons that I learned was to stay focus on your goal and be patient. Many times I wanted to give up in high school because I was having a tough time trying to balance school, work and being a teenager. I learned to stay focus on what my ultimate goal was and that was finished high school, with learning how to balance everything. The most significant value that is important to me is hard work. Hard work to me stands for putting your all in to something and making sure it gets done by any circumstances. Hard work to me is important to me because when you work hard you feel good about what you have done and you’re proud of yourself. I graduated from high school a year early, with my CNA licenses and over $50,000 dollars in scholarships. I pushed through all the circumstances I was faced with and stayed up long nights to reach my goal which is hard work. …show more content…
I choose to enroll at Winston-Salem State University because of the school having one of the top ranked nursing programs in North Carolina and my financial situation. Since coming to Winston-Salem State University in August the most significant learning experience that I have had is learning to balance your time. I learned this from my first semester here, from having classes, going to work and enjoy campus
I had to learn to adjust life without my sibling because my mom did not have enough money for them to be with us and adapt to a new culture. During this my mother and I ended up homeless during the winter months, this was the most brutal and embarrassing time of our life. In my teenage life I have overcome many obstacles; Even though we were living in poverty my mother had high expectation for her children and graduating from high school was just the beginning unfortunately I stumble again, I failed my Math Regent and did not graduate but I was determined not to be discouraged .
Throughout my high school education I have been faced with several challenges and rather than letting the weight and responsibility of my life crush me I endured and completed my task. When my father was gunned down over winter break my freshman year of highschool I did not let the struggle of managing my grief along with my studies stop me from passing any of my classes. When the next year my mother was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer though i did stumble I did not allow myself to be overwhelmed by the situation. I managed a precarious balance between school and home but balance them I did. When the
Conflicts and adversity arise every day, relationships form and come to an end, different doors of opportunities open while others slam shut. There is very little a person can do to avoid adversities in life. It is the reactions to these adversities that truly influence a person and are essential for growth and success to form from the situation. I have been faced with various adversities in my life, and one of the adversities I have been continuously been facing has been my college career thus far.
To start with, it is important to be able to overcome obstacles because it will help you achieve your goals in life. No matter what your dreams are, there are always going to be setbacks, those who are able to overcome them find the life they want; because even if it seems like everything is going your way, don’t count on it staying that way. Be prepared for whatever challenge is thrown at you next. Like Sylvester Stallone once said “Life ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. No one hits harder than life, but it ain’t how hard you can hit. It's how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done”.
In life, people will always have something to say about you in everything one does in life, either negative or positive, but it’s the moment when you let what is said upon you affect the way you live your life, that when its becomes a problem. I for myself have been victim of so many people saying things about me and letting get into my head, but I had the courage to overcome a lot of obstacles like that. I have struggled with a lot of obstacles in my life some got the better of me while I have been able to overcome most of them. I am writing this essay to give an example of an obstacle which I struggled with for a very long time and I nearly took the best of me, but with time I was able to overcome it.
Throughout the entirety of my life I always have and always will face obstacles: I am a girl, I am African-American, I have a disabled brother, I have a single parent. Though these aspects of my life have created challenges, I am proud of who I am and I love my life. These challenges have molded my character and shaped me to be the person I am today and without these obstacles, I might not have been as driven to succeed, despite what has happened in my life that may have caused me to
“The boy who is going to make a great man must not make up his mind merely to overcome a thousand obstacles, but to win in spite of a thousand repulses and defeats.” While I am not a man, I can still make a great woman in Theodore Roosevelt’s opinion. I have had many struggles associated with all of my experiences, some struggles shared with others, some not, but I never gave up. I consistently overcome the obstacles I am faced with in each situation. I am a full time student, part time worker, and an experienced varsity swimmer. I look forward to the new challenges that will shape me while furthering my educational and personal growth. As a student at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, I would bring a comprehensive mix of academic, athletic, and real life experiences to the campus.
Throughout life, you are obligated to endure many obstacles and obstructions. I had a vast number of hardships and found not all to be triumphant. Life is all about perseverance, motivation, how you handle tough times, and what you do to get passed them. Such hardships can include failure in a task in which great effort was given, the passing of a loved one, even fighting with a very close friend can all have devastating effects on ourselves.
In life we all face obstacles. The troubles that we face don’t define us, how we overcome the situation is what makes us the people we are today. Throughout my life I have faced many trials and tribulations that I had to overcome with the help of my mother, ofcourse. I was smooth sailing in life until I started high school.
The things I value the most would be my schooling because, without schooling, I wouldn 't be able to be in the health science and try and become a nurse, schooling to me is everything, especially Being
Most of us go through difficulties, either they be family orientated, be financially based or even with ourselves but, to take hardships and look at them in a positive way is, an attribute that can make anyone successful. Failure is not the end but the beginning of a life lesson. Some of us have setbacks but to remind oneself their only minor setbacks and look at difficulties in a positive manner is a key to success. Obstacles should never deter ones decisions in life either but should be their for encouragement and set a limit to over achieve. One must have the courage to face problems instead of negating or dwelling on them. Learning how to manage those difficulties in a positive manner and overcome those hardships can help become successful.
Have you ever wondered if there could possibly be overwhelming obstacles in the way of someone being truly successful in life? Some may witness friends or loved ones not developing to their fullest potential in their profession because of these unobtainable obstacles holding them back. In “Professions for Women,” by Virginia Woolf, Woolf gives a speech to a group of women explaining why they must overcome certain things in order to be successful in their future professional careers. In speaking to this group of determined young women, Woolf explains how horrendous it may be to have your own thoughts or beliefs while living in a society said to be dominated by males. She
The obstacle my junior year was balancing an AP class, sports, and a job. I was able to do so even though some days were extremely difficult, those days were the ones when I found myself running anywhere I could. Whether it be the treadmill at school or my favorite trail down the street from my house. It took me a few months but I finally got better at my time management and found a smooth routine. My friends looked up to me telling me they wish they were as determined as I.
Every person is faced with obstacles in their life that change a persons life completly. It is dependent on how a person takes a situation that defines the outcome. At the current moment a person may see no positivity coming out of the situation but as time progresses a person realises that despite the pain their is a blessing along with it even if it may be unclear. An obstacle that usually takes a person by surprise is usually death. It is never expected and a person does't really wish to experience it or is prepared for it. Being a young person I never though of losing anyone so close to me and inclusively not another person that was around my same age. However, God has plans for each person and I believe that everything he does is for a reason.
Those obstacles have made me a stronger person than I was before and I am thankful for them. I also have God to thank because without him, I wouldn 't have made it through these past four years. He was with me the entire journey, even in the moments where it seemed like he wasn 't. With college I will further my computer career making more successful in the field I enjoy doing. The gateway to a good future is college and that is why I plan on going to college. College is the most important goal of my life. It is the goal that I mostly focused on throughout my entire career. This year is the most important year of my life: it is the turning point of my life. The way I act, what I do, the classes I take. Everything matters. My future is before me and I am not sure if I can walk the road which I plan. As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said "Life is a journey, not a
