Controversy Regarding Papers Purchased from the Web
Purchasing or obtaining term papers online can be looked at from
various different perspectives. Purchasing term papers for a school
assignment thru the internet is considered plagiarism. It also may be
illegal in some states to ship, sell, or purchase these documents.
Most teachers view the websites as cheating or plagiarizing, but if
used properly, students could benefit by using it as a tool or a guide
to help them in developing their own paper. The different views
collide when we ask the question, what is considered plagiarizing?
Printing a paper from the internet and turning it in does not help
develop critical thinking skills and the ability to express thoughts
and ideas. Tom Rocklin, director of the Center for Teaching at the
University of Iowa, says that businesspeople are looking for new hires
with skills developed by a traditional arts education. He also says
that discussion, reading, and extended writing are a crucial part of
the traditional arts education and students do not develop these
skills by printing a paper from the internet. Along with not getting a
strong education or getting kicked out of school you could also face
criminal charges if you participate with the buying or selling of term
papers. In some cases the seller could be charged with wire fraud,
mail fraud, racketeering, and in some states such as Massachusetts,
breaking a law that bans the sale of a term paper.
Some argue that using term paper websites are not plagiarism and can
be used for things like showing the writing skills of other college
students so you can compare your work. Students can also turn to these
websites to look for where information can be found on certain
subjects. If the papers on the web are parenthetically cited MLA style
it will show you where the writer got the information and you can look
it up yourself and put it in your own words. If you wanted you could
give credit to the author of the term paper and use it as a source of
The issues I choose to talk is the “Canadian Magazine dispute”. I will try to answer the questions one by one.
When in the course of human events, It becomes necessary for students to gain independence from parents and teachers and must state the reasons for why we seek to be independent. It is our sole responsibility and our right to declare our freedom from our parents and teachers and which is why it demands of us to write our own Declaration of Independence to earn the freedom and equality that we seek to gain from our elders.
In the case where one needs to use the exact definition as stated in an existing material, it should be quoted and credited to the first person to define it in that manner. Giving a summary of detailed facts also helps to avoid similarities with other works (Shafer, 2014). Paraphrasing and summarizing other people’s ideas are not enough to make work free of plagiarism. If the style is similar with another author’s work, it is not considered not original. Everyone has a unique style of writing, and to make a work original, it is necessary for one to employ their unique style (Watkins, 2008). When writing, one should avoid too many direct quotations because they will make the work look similar to the original version (Suseela, 2016). To paraphrase effectively, a writer should read existing material and understand it fully. In the event they want to borrow ideas, they should keep the material out of sight and write as own composition. However, when making direct quotations one is allowed to copy and paste so as to maintain the originality of the
1. Provide the citation of the article in APA format at the top of your paper
We need to cite our work so that the readers of your paper can find and read from the source you got it from. This allows the reader to further research the topic and learn more from the original work of another. It is disrespectful to use someone else’s hard work for your own purposes and take credit for it as your own.
Writing can be a very difficult process for those who do not know how to go about constructing

Plagiarism is “Either accidentally or intentionally failing to give proper credit for someone else’s IDEAS (not just their words)” (Smithson) There are many ways that people can plagiarize. In this paper we will discuss plagiarism and how to avoid it, we will also discuss how to reference properly according to Heidi Smithson.
Bibliography:(sorry, I did this paper a while ago and I didn't have to do a bibliography so not really sure)
I certify that this assignment is my own work in my own words. All resources have been acknowledged and the content has not been
I also kept on stating different ways of how my life was a metaphor for the game UNO. Such as positives and negatives, competitivity, power, secrets, and goals. I had many strong reasons for my response since I have strong connections with my life and UNO. My reasons were not only about successes there was mixed in with both successes and challenges that my life and the game share. For example, "This a struggle for me, because I need to continue in life". The response's organization was acceptable because my introductive defined the game of UNO and stated the rules for winning it. In my response I also had a body section, this was the main part and where I stated how UNO was a metaphor for my life. Improvements that I would make would be adding conclusion so my response could close up. I enjoyed this assignment because I got to find a metaphor for my own
SLO H means just that to me. With so many different research projects it is important to give credit for using another person’s ideas. Within my community proposal and literary analysis of a song I needed as much background information as I could get to support my ideas. The research needed for the proposal was more factual and I used a lot of quotes from different individuals to support that my problem I was proposing was an actual real problem. For the song analysis I needed information about who wrote the song, when it was created, and why it was created. If I hadn’t of cited where I found the research on both of these papers I would be taking credit for someone else’s ideas and facts. I would like to say that I am good at citing but throughout the semester I would make simple mistakes such as italicizing titles that didn’t need to be italicized or forgetting to write what paragraph I found my information on. This is something I will continuously practice throughout
Of course, I might just put it anyway but I’d still like to know if you’d read it.
[Using] another person’s words, ideas, or results without giving that person appropriate credit. To avoid plagiarism, every direct quotation must be identified by quotation marks or appropriate indentation and both direct quotation and paraphrasing must be cited properly according to the accepted format for the particular discipline or as required by the instructor in a course (Rutgers Academic Integrity Policy).
Another way to correct plagiarism is to quote and give credit where credit is due. If the student takes someone’s own words and uses them in a paper he or she better put quotation marks around the quote and disclose to whom the quote belonged to.
