I am an 11-year-old 6th grader and I go to Jefferson Houston, I go by the name Blane. I have gone to Patrick Henry for kindergarten and Samuel W. Tucker for 1st-5th grade. In Jefferson Houston there is a program called AVID, this is a program that helps and motivates young adults to go to colleges. This year, I took an AVID interview for next year, and I passed so I will be in AVID next year. My favorite time of the day is lunch and my favorite subject is math. When it comes to school my strength is math, I am in 7th Grade Honors Math. I have gotten the A/B honor roll and citizenship award for semester 1. My plans for a successful and happy future is, to attend Harvard or Yale for law school and become a defense attorney. The most difficult event that changed me, was going to Jefferson Houston instead of Hammond. All throughout 5th grade, I was planning to go to Hammond and stick with my friends. But then, in the summer my mom preferred for me to go to Jefferson Houston, I obviously did not want to, …show more content…
I also kept on stating different ways of how my life was a metaphor for the game UNO. Such as positives and negatives, competitivity, power, secrets, and goals. I had many strong reasons for my response since I have strong connections with my life and UNO. My reasons were not only about successes there was mixed in with both successes and challenges that my life and the game share. For example, "This a struggle for me, because I need to continue in life". The response's organization was acceptable because my introductive defined the game of UNO and stated the rules for winning it. In my response I also had a body section, this was the main part and where I stated how UNO was a metaphor for my life. Improvements that I would make would be adding conclusion so my response could close up. I enjoyed this assignment because I got to find a metaphor for my own
Nathaniel Hall one of the kids in the book True notebooks that were in Mark Salzman’s class stood out to me to me the most because he was showing signs of changing, but he is also manipulative and shows signs of not changing at all, the juvenile system was not effective enough at supporting Nathaniel’s change it failed to bring him up to his high potential, if he had stayed in the juvenile spending more time with Mark at the writing workshop and not transferred to the penitentiary he would have probably turned out to be okay. Nathaniel is so high-spiritedness even though he is obviously struggling with his past life he lived when he was on the streets. It’s like he is hiding something through all his rhymes and high spirit. He kind of confuses me because he sometimes talks about becoming a new person and how the writing has changed him then other times about going back to his gang once he gets out because that’s the only life he can relate to describing it as real. Nathaniel Hall, as brilliant as he may
This novel has incredible depth of meaning and detail located within Craig Silvey's Jasper Jones is remarkable. This novel continues to entertain me, and I look forward to finishing this novel.
Reflecting on your delivery and relating to further reading and research, write a personal analysis which considers the following:
Sometimes my professors asked me to write this type of essays. However, I do not think that I wrote them correctly. Because I did not know the structure of this essay. Also, I did not know how to discuss
Have you discovered what your purpose in life is? Have you ever felt as if you were the chosen one? Like you were predestined to be someone great and fulfil a meaningful purpose in life? Well, Nat turner did. On October 2, 1800, Nat Turner was born into slavery on the Travis plantation in Southampton County, Virginia. From a young age many knew and believed he was a special boy. For Nat Turner taught himself how to read and write. Nat Turner’s master, Joseph Travis believed that young Nat would be nothing but trouble due to his “uncommon intelligences.” His master was right. Once the plantation got a new overseer, Turner ran away and hid in the woods for 30 days. He later comes back because he feels as if the spirit told him to
During my early education, meaning elementary school and middle school, I was a very average student. I gave an average amount of effort to my grades, and I received above average results. This did not bother me, until the end of my 8th-grade year. At this point in the year, I was filling out what classes I desired to take the following year, my freshman year. I realized that from this point forward, I had to take my education much more serious, in order to get accepted to whichever college I desired. therefore, when planning my classes, I decided to challenge myself more than I ever have in the past, and take multiple honors courses. I assumed because of my grades, that I had what it took to be an honors-level student, but I was very wrong. One teacher, Mrs. Johnson, made me realize the kind of effort, time and energy needed to be devoted to my education.
High school is meant to be the time of your life, but for most seniors just like me it can be some of the most emotional and crazy time. The things in my past make me who I am today, and the things I do now are the first footsteps into the future. I’ve learned a lot about myself in these past four years, and I still have so much learning to do. This is my high school story; the good, bad, and the ugly.
I went to Lincoln High school for my past 4 years. For my first year in high school, I didn’t do much, I met a few new friends, but none of them became close friends with me. On the first day of school in sophomore year, I went to school early in the morning to talk to my counselor about schedule change, because I didn’t want to take P.E. during sophomore year, but she told me that I have to take it unless I join an academy. There are four academies in my school but I don’t know anything about any of them. My counselor recommended me to join the green academy since the other three academies were all full. So I joined the green academy and this instant decision has changed my high school life
District Writing Assessment Have you ever wondered how our own individual identity and character does determine how we contribute to society? Whether we help our community by giving back or to harm our community by robbing people or spraying graffiti on the walls. Our character can be based on past experiences for example, if you grew up in a house with parents or a parent that abuses you, and you feel like you just don’t belong with your family, chances are that you may be desperate to find a fix to your problems, and soon enough you find a group that makes you feel fit in but does all the wrong things that could potentially harm you or others whether its emotionally, physically, and or psychologically. That could determine how you
Last Friday, on my first day of clinical, I had the opportunity to serve at Francis House. Normally the organization is open to serve the homeless, but a handful of students and I came on a day they were closed for a work day. We were able to help Francis House paint the inside of the building. We did not get to work with the homeless, however it was really nice to know the people that work there on a regular basis. We see how they put their whole hearts into their work in order to make a difference in the homeless community. It is even more exciting that USF is the first school to be a part of this organization. We were able to learn about what Francis House does and see what difference we will make as nursing students.
Throughout my first year of high school I was an humble, did not quite interact with most students. I had a very low self-esteem, most of my best friends in middle school went to different high school. I didn’t know what to do during that time because my parents had forced me to go another high school called “Eagle Rock High”. My parents believed a high school called “John Marshall High” was a ghetto high school ;therefore, I was forced to enrolled in school called “Eagle Rock High”, I felt lonely since all my friends were gone di...
What will I do for the rest of my life? Every person asks this question at some stage of their life, usually during their later teenage years. As a high school junior, I am now asking myself this question. After considerable thought, I have devised a tentative plan for my future. I realize that some of these plans and goals may change over time, but with a plan, the first steps of the journey can begin. To prepare me for the journey, I have taken very challenging high school curriculum, such as Honors and Advanced Placement courses. These classes will not only assist in my admission to college, but have also helped me to develop strong study skills and time management.
The time to breathe before advancing further in my future projects, the difficult moments instead of discouraging me, these moments give me motivation and the necessary energy to move forward. I am optimist but realistic. My parents taught me that we live in a world that is constantly changing and to succeed we need a smart plan and the ability to adapt and adjust to the changing world environment but more importantly one need to prepare one’s self to succeed. We need discipline and above all an unshakable will to resist difficulties when they happen. “An ongoing work of art” would probably be one of the best ways to describe my life. From very early on in life, I have learn that I can be the artist of my own life through guidance and hard work, I learned that we are the architecture of our life, the artist of our own destiny through work, commitment and determination. Every route taken or not taken will somehow impact our existence and leave a trail like a shooting star in the night sky, the beauty of the trail depends entirely on the nature of our actions in life. This is the first time in my existence I have had the opportunity to write the story of my life in detail. This exercise
When I was in high school I had a problem, which was being shy. Being shy made me seem as if I was anti-social, and caused me to have no friends, but my shyness was decreasing each year of high school because I talked more, and by the time I reached 12th grade I had many friends, who are very close to me till this day. While being in high school, I was always focused on my studies. People believed that I was a genius in high school, but I really wasn’t, I was just focus on the lessons, and understood what the teacher taught us. As I reached eleventh grade, I was chosen to be a part of the National Honor Society; I thought that I was never going to be part of the National Honors Society. I was at the hospital when my friends told me the good news—that I was selected to be part of the National Honors Society. As I reached 12th grade I learned that working while going to school is a bad idea if you can’t multitask right. When I was working I didn’t realized that I wasn’t multitasking right; I wasn’t putting enough effort into my studies, and having a job was distracting me, so I decide to quit my job, and continue my education by going to college. Growing up was scary, but I’m ready what the future is holding for
Everything was great and I spend a great eight years. I was a good student in all of my natural science classes, especially in Biology and Math classes. I was in contact with many of my school friends and teachers in every of our school activities. I still remember playing soccer for our school team when I was thirteen-years-old. Actually, I still play soccer and I play awesome, but I don’t want to be a player. In addition, my elementary school life was great and successful eight years for me. I had a great respect and personal admiration how our school teachers, stuff workers, and directors treated us especially, our educational manager, Mr. Belay Amara, because he treated everyone like his own son or daughter. He was a great gentleman and I really admire him for what he has
