In a heated rant, The Man with the Cold claimed, “I’ve known a couple who are okay.” Later, he stated, “None of them are any good!” The Man with a Cold’s fallacy was Contradictory Premises because if he says that a couple are okay, then it is wrong to later say none of them are any good. The Man with the Cold cannot have exceptions to his absolute statement otherwise it is not absolute. This statement infers that his “okay” guys are not any good. What he should have done was to claim that these “okay” guys are simply exceptions. Then, his statement could have been most of them are not good instead of the absolutes of “none” and “any”.
