Northern Africa.Caliph Khan Sultan was the ruler of Ottoman that had lots of power. Two of the most powerful powers in the post-classical period were the Arabian and Byzantine empires. Each had different political, religious, and economic differences that defined their respective cultures, and managing to create vast empires that greatly rivaled each other.
The Aztec and Mongol empires were large, expansive realms that shared many similarities in their rise to power, but also had some differences. The Aztec and Mongol Empire's rise to power were similar politically in that they both conquered neighboring nations, similar socially in that their social structures both emphasized warriors, but were different economically in that the Aztecs relied on tributes from conquered lands to fund their expansion whereas the Mongols destroyed lands they conquered to prevent challenges to their power.
Ottoman vs. Qing The declines of the Ottoman and Qing Empires both had commonalities in their downfall such as corruption in the government, weak armies, and debt to the Europeans, though the main reasons for the collapse of the empires are alike the way that the problems developed are dissimilar. While both the Qing and the Ottoman were in completely separate locations, both had government officials that abused their positions of power and brought down the economic standing of the empire as whole. Ottoman rule was at its peak during the sixteenth century and they stayed in that era, as did the Qing, the military advancements that had occurred were not followed by these empires causing them to be utterly defenseless in war. Finally, due to the fact that the Ottomans and Qings had no way to protect themselves from the Europeans, the British and French gave them loans or crops that forced them into economic strife because they could not pay back the money they had borrowed.
The Ottomans and Spanish built flourishing empires based on different philosophies from 1450 to 1800. The Ottoman and Spanish were two powerful empires during that time. During the building of the two empires, the Spanish and the Ottoman both developed similarities in their social, political, and economic structures. The Ottoman took control of Europe, while the Spanish saw it as easy to monitor new lands. The different tactics employed made the both empires flourish. For instance, the Spanish were not tolerant of religion. They conquered other areas with the aim of converting Christians to Islam, if they refused, they would be killed. On the other hand, the Ottoman leaders incorporated leaders of diverse culture
The Qing Empire and the Ottoman Turkish Empire both comare as well as contrast. The Qing Empire lasted from 1644 to 1912. The Ottoman Turkish Empire lasted from 1299 to 1923. As you can see the Ottoman Turkish Empire lasted alot longer than the Qing Empire. All empires have declines and many problems that causes them to eventually dissolve.
The big one was in the way the empires were ruled. Russia preferred a highly centralized government while the Ottoman’s for the most part let the local governments do the day to day governance, as long as they still got their taxes. Their religions also differed. The Russians are Orthodox Christians and their government didn’t have much in the way of religious tolerance while the Ottomans had large swaths of conquered lands with many religions so they were quite tolerant so their religious scope was varied. The empires also differed on their relationships with European technology. The Ottoman empire didn’t embrace it and then it was too late and their technology deficit caused their downfall. The Russian’s also stayed away until Peter the Great. After him they wholly embraced everything European. The last example of differences between the Ottoman and Russian empires is their useage of slaves. The Russian’s whole economy was based on serfdom while the Ottomans had child slaves who into their
Between 1301 to 1922, in the region north of present day Syria, was known as the Ottoman empire. It was rooted in the belief that Islam as an ideology should be in power. One territory held by the Ottoman empire was their homeland of Turkey. In 1907, the Sultan Abdul Hamid II, wanted for the most part to have people who were educated outside of the country limited in what they could do, and if not then they were expunged, as he thought that they were the cause of his land’s plight and decline. This resulted in him becoming very unpopular with his people, thus having many secret societies created practically under his nose. The most important being The Young Turks.
Throughout history, and in many nations and empires throughout time, governments are affected by religions of different kinds. Religion has been an integral component of humanity, as a way to search answers to existential questions that they might have as well as possibly giving a reason as to why the things they saw happen occur, mostly in older religions. Religion is used by people in power to govern the citizens of their nations on a basis of that religion, as a way to set the foundations of the rules and regulations that must be followed. The Han Dynasty and the Gupta Empire during the classical ages of China and India, respectively, are examples of how their emperors used religion to exert control and shape their nation. The methods in
Two important, mighty Asian empires in history are the Ottoman Empire and the Ming China. These two empires are in totally different areas of Asia – the Ottomans were in the very west, the Chinese were in the oriental east. Therefore, these two empires, naturally, formed completely different cultures. However, surprisingly, these empires had many parts in common as well. The Ottoman Empire and the Ming Dynasty had both many different and distinct parts, as well as many similarities.
The Ottoman Empire was one of the longest running empires in history, spanning 624 years. The women of the Ottoman empire were often limited to the household of their husband’s and held back by Ottoman lawmakers and authorities. The point of view of outsiders was varied, but there were both positive and negative views.
While taking the class of Early Modern European History there was two states that really stuck out and peaked my interest the most. They were the Ottoman Empire and Early Modern Europe. If you compare and contrast both the Ottoman Empire and Early Modern Europe during the 16th Century through the 18th Century, you will see that there are a number of similarities as well as differences when you look at the expansion of the states. You will also see many of these contrasts as well when you look in terms of each states military and commerce. Although the Ottoman Empire existed before the 16th century and continued to exist past the 18th century and in great decline until the early 20th century, when looking at the state as a whole the time period of 1500’s through the 1700’s is a period of growth and strength. It is perhaps even known as a golden era for the state, when taking in to comparison the Early Modern Europeans where the same time period marks a change in how society thought and how people were treated.
The empires of the British and Ottoman were both influential economically, socially, and politically before their decline. They were able to control their territory and others around the world. The decline of the Ottoman Empire in 1683 was because of the collapse of government and lack of trade, which led to rebellions in colonies and new introductions of education and religion. Also, the decline of the British Empire in 1928 was because of the loss of control over colonies and the industrialization of other countries which led the British to losing control over other parts of the world. The British and Ottoman both declined because of colonies but their declines were still vastly different.
They began to take rent from the people who lived there, place taxes on local markets and tollbooths were placed at the entrance to the cities. This all helped to create the fiscal-military state which made it possible for rulers to pay their armies and guards with cash. It was the conquering of the Byzantine Empire that helped to make money more accessible to the Ottoman Empire, the Byzantine Empire was part of the Roman Empire which was the longest lasting Empire and most likely more advance than some of the smaller Empires. Metals such as silver, lead, and iron were necessary to keep enough money to pay the armies their salaries. The Ottomans took over the silver, iron and lead mines in Serbia and Bosnia making them the masters of metal production. Both the Habsburgs and the Ottomans used large amounts of gold and silver to purchase firearms, cannons and ships to conquer the world.
At one time, the reforms made by the Young Turks worked well, but only for a short time. Overthrowing the tyranny of Hamid should have been enough to help establish a new government, but the triumvirate also became quite oppressive during their reign. Turkism established a new form of nationalism that left out various nationalities, races, and cultures, and this led to the decline of the empire. Following World War I, the empire was faced with so many conflicts, they were unable to remain strong. Even though the reformers set out to strengthen the empire, it is quite possible they are the reason for the fall of the Ottoman Empire.
The Chinese Empire was large and controlled most of Asia at one point in time. One of the dynasties that ruled the empire was the Ming Family. Ruling from 1368-1644, almost three hundred years, the Ming Dynasty impacted Chinese history very much.
