A community I am commit with is CAMP from CSUMB which stands for College Assistance Migrant Program. My community is a federally funded program that assists first year freshmen who have a migrant background and students whose parents are seasonal farmworkers. CAMP assist their students with many useful services such as with a grant of up to 1,200 dollars. My community is very important to me for the reason they are guiding me to be successful while encouraging me to graduate from college. As young people’s civic and political participation continues to decline, a number of organizations are working to reverse the decline by increasing opportunities for youth to participate. Communities around the country are taking steps to engage young people through a variety of methods that allow youth to actually participate in policy development and take action on local issues. The effectiveness of such community programs on long-term civic engagement is not well documented, however. This paper presents preliminary research about the effectiveness of one community participation program, the Southern Nevada Water Authority’s Youth Advisory Council. Quantitative and anecdotal evidence, while not conclusive, suggest this community problem solving approach may encourage its participants to engage in other civic and political activities. The paper also discusses the benefits that organizations and communities receive when young people participate in this way, and provides recommendations for developing a similar youth participation program.
The entire community plays an essential role in the growth and development of children within our community. As a school leader, building an inclusive school culture that is open and friendly to all stakeholders using a variety of effective methods is crucial. There is no magic formula to incorporating a positive school culture, much depends on the leadership of the campus. This research exhibits that internships can be an important strategy in the efforts toward job search for both students, as well as for employers looking to hire valuable employees. As defined by InternNE.com, an internship is any carefully monitored service or work experience that may be evaluated for educational credit in which an intern or student establishes learning goals and reflects on his or her learning experience in relation to achievement of the stated goals. Internships should first be examined that, when implemented at fullest potential, these opportunities can provide companies and students with a competitive edge in today’s business world. Subsequently, it can be shown that internships assist organizations and companies with temporary or seasonal project and task completion. Lastly, internships will be clarified as to how they allow students to gain valuable experience before entering the workforce. From reviewing an ample amount of research, internships are beneficial and advantageous to the success of a young student, as well as companies.
Frequently however, issues arise amongst a community that need attention. In this essay I will outline and discuss some of these issues and the interventions, projects or programmes designed and used to tackle and combat them. The three models of intervention or, ‘Community Development’, I will discuss in this essay, "Social Planning", "Community Development", and "Social/Community Action", all have the same aim regardless of how it is accomplished and this is to improve and maintain the conditions which affect the lives of the community.
