First and foremost, I will contribute to the academic climate of the University of Alberta. My program of choice, engineering, will undoubtedly be difficult and demanding, but I have spent my time in high school working hard to succeed. I have thrown myself into AP courses for the challenge (by the end of grade 12 I will have taken 20 AP courses). I have already taken the Language and Composition, Computer Science A, Physics 2, and AP Seminar exams.
I have challenged myself and risen to the challenge. In grade 11 I participated in the AP Capstone program, which I continue to do this year. When I first applied, research was new to me, but I considered that learning research would be a valuable experience. AP Seminar I wrote two main papers,

I do not have a concrete plan beyond get involved. Perhaps something in the area of artificial intelligence. I do, however, definitely intend to contribute to the body of research undertaken at the University of Alberta.
These are not the only ways I hope to contribute to the university community. I believe I am unusual and will add diversity to the student body.
I have been home-schooled from grades 1 to 7, and again in grade 9. My parents followed an interest-based model. When I became fascinated with something, they simply provided me with the material and resources. For example, this is how I learned computer programming: I first discovered it from reading the manual of a TI-83 calculator I was given to play with, and then, as I reached the limitations of TI-BASIC, I was given my first computer and learned C++. As I learned more about programming, I became fascinated, and desired to learn even more. Eventually, my parents put me into contact with a programmer who works at Bioware as a mentor, who helped me with the math behind coding a 3D

It is especially valuable in engineering. My homeschooling experiences will add diversity to the university community.
I have listed a number of ways I will contribute to the university's community. However, I will also contribute in a more direct way.
I will pursue my passions by getting involved in student organizations in my free time. Due to an interest in robotics and artificial intelligence, I decided to join Scona's robotics club. However, sometimes things aren't as simple as just joining a club.
An example: I love role-playing, but at my school the closest thing we had to a role-playing club was a club about video games. So I became a founding member of my school's tabletop gaming club, a biweekly (varying with our schedules) meeting of a group of people to play tabletop role-playing games at lunch. As one of the founding members, I can say that I would definitely consider starting something similar at the University of Alberta.
I also plan to join the Programming Contest Club. I have already attended a few meetings in the summer (during a HIP internship) and found it to be both fun and
Homeschooling can bring families together. Family orientation is very important; this can be done by spending time together and building memories as they learn because it is what bonds...
Home schooling provides a different look on today’s educational system. Although I would support that every American child should receive at least two years of public school before graduating from high school. Homeschooling is becoming more popular every day, with a growth rate of 7 to 15 percent per year according to Vicki Bentley HSLDA Toddlers to Tweens Coordinator. There are many aspects of homeschooling that someone should consider, financial commitment, social interaction, physical exercise, the commitment parents have, and how it affects the student going to college. I personally have been on both sides of this issue. I have been homeschooled and I have been to public school. Student should have
Lyman(2006) writes about the definition, history, and current social importance of homeschooling in the United States. The author defines the education which is provided at home instead of school as homeschooling. She sates thatearlier homeschooling was confined mostly to the handicapped children who were not fit along with the regular students, who need extra care and the wealthier classes who wanted their children to be prepared for university studies. She continues to give an information that the number of families considering their children to have their schooling at home is increasing every year with the awareness of the positive traits of homeschooling followed bythe research work by the educational specialists, even while other education
College Admissions Essay If someone asked me where I am going to be in ten years, this would be my answer. I have a great, high-paying job, and beautiful wife and family, and a nice sports car parked in front of my lovely house. When I look into the future, I see myself being successful and happy. Even though I always pictured myself this way, I never worried too much about how I would get there.

Parents are able to assess their kids’ strength, weaknesses, learning styles and interests. Homeschooling allows parents to customize their children 's education to maximize learning, strengthen weaknesses and allow focus on special areas of interest or giftedness. This makes kids highly motivated to learn, and thus results in kids developing a love for learning (Benefits of Homeschooling: How it can make kids smarter.) Homeschooling a child can increase the likelihood that they will advance in reading, writing, and mathematics, as well as be able to comprehend the fundamental principles of science, history, art, and geography. When homeschooling, parents can customize the type of work the child does, and can decide what curriculum the child works out of. Customizing what the child learns in a friendly, healthy environment can help the child achieve the ultimate educational
In terms of academics, I want to study a variety of subjects including mathematics, film, law, and the history of the Middle East, Europe, and women’s rights. From the assortment of major and minor programs offered at AUP, there is an opportunity to study the subjects of my interest and hone a specific major. In terms of volunteer organizations, I started to research AUP as an educational institution to attend because of the Jane Goodall Institute’s Roots & Shoots program because as a child, photographs of Goodall and chimpanzees were plastered on my bedroom walls. Aside from the environmental emphasis of the program, I would want participate in the bake sales for My Future Yemen. The other volunteer organizations I would want to participate in are My Art Goes Bang, tutoring kindergarteners in England, Gay Games, and The Peacock
I am an active executive member of a number of clubs and associations on campus including Amnesty International Laurier chapter, Students for Palestine, Human Rights Student Association, Divest Laurier, Mock Trial, Laurier Campus Anti-Fascist Network and 15 and Fairness Laurier. On top of all of these extracurricular activities, I was able to complete community-based research in Brantford, partnering with SAFE Brantford, BRAVE (Brant’s Response Against Violence Everywhere) and Laurier. I was able to look at how to better improve outreach to survivors of domestic violence in faith communities by looking at how we improve clergy referrals and access to resources. My research ultimately helped to secure more funding for improved resources at the Brant Sexual Assault Center. I also actively volunteer with St. Vincent De Paul meal programs and Black and Pink’s LGBTQ2+ prison pen pal program.
I conducted a study on Cryptography and I received a bronze medal. Through this experience, I improved my ability to conduct research, summarize findings, and most importantly, discovered that copious amounts of learning happens outside of the classroom.
My time at UTEP has given me many technical skills in regards to the major I’m pursuing. I have not only learned the concepts to become a successful engineer, but also the effort and dedication that is required. All my professors have shown me the passion that any good engineer possesses and the many options that I have ahead of me. I have been taught
In this club I encountered a variety of persons and learned how to contribute in a diverse group dynamic. Also this club granted me the ability to receive first hand experience in the field of engineering by interning for HDR, in the Transportation Engineering division, at downtown, Denver. Through school and this internship I became fluent in SolidWorks/ AutoCAD and familiar with MicroStation/ InRoads. With the skill set and personality I have I believe that It can contribute to the diverse and inclusive
I stood there thinking of something that could bring us all together during school and it hit me- a club! But what kind of club? What would be its purpose? I thought back to my childhood, thinking of all the games
As a student I envision myself benefiting from that community, learning to look at science from a new perspective. I also look forward to making full use of the university’s science resources and facilities and use those resources in the future when working in the
Thesis Statement: Homeschooled students often achieve higher academic success and are more active in their communities than traditionally schooled students, due to a personalized approach to learning that emphasizes individuality.
That yearning to comprehend the numerous aspects of the scientific world still exists within me today. Unfortunately, I have not yet had the experience of working in the research industry. I have spent the majority of the time in my life exploring my interests without truly delving into one specific area of focus. Due to this fact, I was reluctant towards the prospect of dedicating all of my attention to research.
