Technology has made significant leaps forward in recent history. Nearly everyone now owns a cell phone. Many people are now choosing a mobile phone instead of a landline. These new forms of communication are convenient, helpful, and provide their owners with a new option of communication. My cell phone has improved my life in many ways, through communicating, convenience, and creating opportunities. When I first got a cell phone five years ago, I was ecstatic. My cell phone has helped me accomplish many things including keeping me informed, scholarship opportunities, and finding inspiration. My cell phone keeps me informed about events and opportunities through social media. I am graduating this year, and our class receives texts about universities, scholarships, and more. Without my cell phone I may not have heard about the open house that the University of Regina was having that eventually made my decision to go there next fall. Vice versa, it has helped me get news about our school’s events and get more people involved. In October this year, my school raised a significant amount of money for our local United Way. The ways we got our fundraising events known was through cell phones and social media. Another way my phone has helped me accomplish things is through online scholarship finders that help me find amazing financial support for funding my university education. Finally, I am the president of my school’s SRC. Cell phones have given us the inspiration for some of our very best events we have done.
