My curiosity in science and technology was shaped into abiding passion under the guidance of my father, a Post Graduate in Mechanical Engineering (Applied Mechanics) from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. Exposed to various spheres of technology at RNSIT (a College that is consistently ranked among the top five in the State), an intensified interest evolved in Robotics. The natural way forward for me, is to pursue a Master’s program in my area of interest. Working on Personal Robotics combines my passion with technical skills. INITIAL YEARS My interests crystallized when I attended a Robotics workshop in my freshman year, held by the RNSIT Robotics Club (Advanced Integrated Research Lab) where I watched a TED video of quad …show more content…
Left with hardly three days after exams, we picked up crude hardware from our college workshop, and with relentless efforts, developed an algorithm using basic hybrid automata and sliding mode control, which not only solved the grid, but also compensated for errors in hardware. I got a holistic understanding of Robotics after working on mechanical design, embedded systems and artificial intelligence; and found design, dynamics and control of Robots most absorbing. I began teaching interested students basic Robotics and started a student-run R&D centre in college with my batch mates – “Innovation Labs”, where we collectively work on innovative interdisciplinary projects. My interest was further enhanced by courses in our curriculum – especially Kinematics, Dynamics, Mechatronics, and Mechanical Measurements (involving sensors, transducers and actuators) in which I obtained Eleventh Rank in the whole University. NOW Inspired by the work done at MIT, Cambridge under Prof. Harry Asada, I have initiated an Open- Source Supernumerary Robotic Limbs (SRL) project along with likeminded classmates. The SRL, consisting of 5 DoFs in each arm excluding the wrist, is envisioned to assist users in performing

College Admissions Essay If someone asked me where I am going to be in ten years, this would be my answer. I have a great, high-paying job, and beautiful wife and family, and a nice sports car parked in front of my lovely house. When I look into the future, I see myself being successful and happy. Even though I always pictured myself this way, I never worried too much about how I would get there.
When people hear the term “FIRST Robotics” or hear anything related to robotics, they automatically assume that it has something to do with robots destroying each other or nerds sitting in the corner eating pizza and building small robots; I used to be one of those people who thought that before joining FIRST Robotics. In all honesty, I was very reluctant on becoming a part of FIRST Robotics in the first place because I did not know if I would fit in or even enjoy it for that matter. However, thanks to two special people I gave FIRST Robotics a shot, and I’m thankful that I did because I wouldn’t be the person that I am today. FIRST Robotics has greatly impacted my high school experience by teaching me life skills that I can’t learn in the classroom, forming new bonds and
Probably the most important turning point in my life happened in 1992. At this time, I was eight years old and living in Williamsport Pennsylvania. My dad had a well-paying job at Anchor Darling Valve Company, I was attending a parochial school and I thought life was just great. At the time we lived in a large four-story house with a separate three-story garage and an acre of forest for a backyard. I had a ten-speed bicycle and I would often go bicycling with my friends at the nearby cemetery. No-one ever objected to this, in fact people would often have picnics at the top of this hill at the cemetery. I guess the only things I ever complained about were the constant music lessons and practice sessions my parents subjected me to.
Additionally, walking into the gymnasium that was filled with career booth’s sparked my curiosity. The first booth I walked to was, Brazosports Robotics booth. The first thing I saw being presented by the volunteers that we’re working the booth was a fascinating contraption the students of Brazosport created which was exceptionally put together, and well designed. The robotic machine left me in such fascination and awe. This experience with the robotics booth contributed majorly to the reasoning of my likeness towards the mechanical field since robtics and mechanical engineering are very similar.
The experience of the APEC Youth Science festival was incredible. It has had an enormous impact on me in many ways, changing the way I look at the world and connecting me with people and events far beyond my formerly limited experience. I am extremely glad to have had this opportunity. It was a wonderful experience on multiple levels. It challenged me and expanded me intellectually and socially. I feel that this experience has had an immense impact on me.
Currently, manufacturing’s hardware and software is comprised of progressive manufacturing project, automation and innovation. **** Argues that the industry today necessitates a greater level of capability and critical intellectual as innovation magnifies sophisticated technologies, professors need to be better educated about their digitally enamored students, and in what way enhanced to influence them with learning procedures to which they can transmit. Preparing for a career in manufacturing is no longer based on following the education standards created 50 years ago. The Australian Government invests $9.7 billion in STEM, research and
I am a passionate and influential Science and Math educator, who has been motivating and inspiring the learners for last twelve years locally and internationally. Born and raised in a family in Nepal, which values education highly, I learned the importance of education in my early age. Afterwards, I choose to teach over pursuing my career in the research field in Chemistry after completing Master’s degree in Chemistry seeing the need of effective educators in this field. Since then I have been consistently trying to make the learning of Science and Math tempting and interesting using project-based, game-based, hands-on activities and tech-integration learning activities. My nature of connecting learning Science and Math in the classroom with daily life activities helped me to stand as a distinguished student.
Comment, for example, on your interests and abilities; your career goals; exposure to engineering through school-related and other experiences; and discussions you have had with engineers, teachers, current or past Waterloo students. (900 character limit) As a team of ambitious and diligent students from Glenforest, we organized the Canadian Youth STEM Conference to inspire and educate over 1000 students about STEM. Learning about the daily benefits we enjoy thanks to advancements in STEM compelled me to pursue a career in STEM. In the future, I hope to develop a widely-accessible robot that can learn and adapt to a variety of jobs too dangerous for humans.
I make it my quest to gain any and all knowledge on the topic I hold dear. Furthermore, my goals in engineering deal with more on the technology side of the field. Dealing with robotics, how they are built and programmed. All that didn’t start all randomly, it was my brother and my teachers that helped get me into this hobby which soon took over my life as I started to get into competitions. My brother was the one that got me into thinking about even joining the robotics club so I also have him to thank for that.
People travel miles in search of their true passion; some find them early in their life and I consider myself lucky enough to be one among them. I found my true calling at the age of 12 on a field trip to a milk factory. It seemed like the Disneyland of science with huge machineries, conveyer belts running all around, and instruments working about in their own rhythm with sheer intricacies and perfection. As a kid, I was eager to understand the mechanics behind this magical rhythm. The desire of gaining in-depth knowledge about Control System and Automation eventually led me to choose Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering as my undergraduate study.
Software Application Development has been my preferred field since my second year of engineering. I have deep interest in how mobile appications are developed, how applications are published on stores and many thoughts inspired me to gain an insight into mobile applications development, especially Android operating system. Android is an open source technology which amazes me the most, the independence of working for yourself or for your clients makes this skill even more valuable. The innovative developments in this field such as the latest Android TV has encouraged me to dive deeper into this technology. To study in USA has always been a dream because i feel the country has best to offer when it comes to research.
An ambition to learn and grow and having passion for engineering have prompted me to go in for graduate studies. Chasing my Dreams! While growing up at a young age I was always intrigued by objects that produced mechanical work and energy be it prime movers such as automobiles, construction and mining equipment, turbo machinery such as jet engines, space shuttles or complex mechanisms of mechanical watches, I used to spend a lot of time trying to learn and figure out their basis and propositions, it was necessary for me to explore my inner conscience to understand my fascination towards machines and their ingenuity, Mechanical engineering seemed a direct consequence of my convictions. I have always admired my father as a civil engineer and his hard work and struggles throughout his life; He has always been a role model for me. He motivated me to pursue my dreams so I decided to pursue my undergraduate study in Mechanical Engineering
My journey through life has been one full of twists and turns, just as anyone else’s has. Throughout my childhood, I enjoyed myself as a student, and athlete, and just a plain kid. I developed the skills and knowledge that led to my eventual life at North Carolina State University. The culmination of schooling and hard work and even a little bit of chance has set me up brilliantly to be an engineer. With my past behind me and the present shaping of my life, a map of the future looks very prosperous and full of engineering innovation.
Robotics is the engineering process that involves the ‘conception, design, manufacture, and operation of robots.’
