The cognitive level of analysis focuses on the mental processes, for instance like memory, attention, thinking and language. With that information it see how we take in all our outside information and process it. The three principals consist of; social and cultural factors that affect cognitive processes, human beings are information processors and that mental representations guide behavior, and that mental processes can and should be studied scientifically by developing theories and by using a variety of research methods. These principals allow us to focus on how behavior can truly affect our cognitive levels of analysis. It is said that the cognitive level of analysis can be influenced by social and cultural factors. Those principals are able to define the cognitive level of analysis to a point where it can help with more research into cognition. And while these principals may be very useful for more research and they can be demonstrated through research there is still some space for doubt. This does not automatically mean that the cognitive level of analysis is the only thing that influences behavior. All the other levels of analysis need to be taken into account for the influences on behavior before taking a determined decision on what influences behavior. Cognitive behaviour is similar to a computer by input of data into a computer and prior knowledge stored in the human brain as data and information are processed. The computer reaches its results from a series of data and the brain receiving information reaches its results neurologically.
“I Stand Here Ironing” by Tillie Olsen, is a story about a mother's struggle to balance the demands of raising children and having to work to make ends meet during the Great Depression. The story’s primary focus is on the relationship between the narrator, a mother, and her first child, Emily. Throughout the story, the narrator reflects on the decisions and mistakes she made while raising Emily. The narrator was detached from Emily almost completely during her younger years, but she desires an emotional connection to her, like she has with her other children. She also wants Emily to have a better life than she had.
Other issues under the cognitive theory are social and learning theories that are founded on the assumptions that humans make decisions based on logical evaluation of ideas. One of the strengths of the theory is in its recognition of humans as logical beings. It rejects behaviorism because the theory does not recognize the importance of logics in human reasoning.

The aim of this essay is to analyse four theoretical approaches to psychology, including psychodynamic, humanistic, cognitive and behavioural. Analysing each approach in detail and identifying key features the approach uses to explain human behaviour. This essay will also analyse how successful each approach is in it methods, evidence gathering techniques and analyse how it can be applied to giving reasons for particular human behaviours. As well as analysing each approaches failings in it theories, methods and evidence gathering techniques.
Social and environmental variables affect cognitive development. Cognitive development focuses on the person’s ability to intellectually, perceive and process information. (35589) defined the cognitive ability as the process in which people learn, think and use language; it is the progression of their mental capacity from being irrational to rational (35589). Piaget and Vygotsky are two cognitive theorists who are interested in the cognitive development of a person across their life span and its relation with social and environmental factors. Piaget is the most known cognitive theorist who affected the world of psychology greatly, and was a great influence to many psychologists out there; however his main intention was the innate maturity process and, unlike Vygotsky, he underestimated the role of language and social interaction and his theory wasn’t useful in the teaching field.
Whilst evaluating the cognitive approach to psychology there are many strengths such as that the cognitive approach takes an understanding of the influence from mental processes on one’s behaviour, focusing on an individual’s thinking patterns and their perception. This approach also relates to many known functions and operations that the human body performs such as memory and problem solving.
Off the five developmental theories, I would like to describe and explain two grand theories, Cognitive theory and Behaviorism.
The purpose for this week’s assignment is to discuss cognitive development as it relates to the mental aging process of infancy through adolescence. As instructed in the assignment outline, I will choose and discuss three important cognitive functions and they are as followed; thinking, intelligence, and language. In addition, I will discuss Piaget’s four stages of cognitive development as it relates to the infancy stage through adolescence.

While the definition of cognition is unconscious process in the brain that bring about representations. Social cognition purpose is to study social knowledge, social structure, group behavior, social influences, social categories (age, race, sex) defines a person. (Science Direct) Social cognition is thought to be the outcome of social interactions. One will learn by observing others, this is known as vicarious learning.
