Coffee vs. Energy Drinks


To drink or not to drink that is the question. Should I drink coffee or should I drink energy drinks right before a sports activity. I could get a boost of energy by drinking it. I could run right over to WAWA and get a bottle of energy drink or a cup of coffee. I could get either one but not both of them the energy drink has about 74 milligrams of caffeine and a cup of coffee has 95 milligrams of of caffeine. Which one should I have coffee, energy drink ,or should I just stay with water.

There are many similarities between coffee and energy drinks. One of those similarities is each one of these drinks have a lot of caffeine in them. Caffeine is a part in some drinks that wake you up which is why you shouldn’t drink certain drinks late at night. These drinks have different amounts of caffeine but both have a lot of it and will keep you up late at night so I wouldn’t drink these drinks at night. Another similarity between these two drinks is that the both are good for concentration and they are also good for wakefulness. First off doctors haven’t found anything wrong with coffee and its okay. Energy drinks on the other hand they make people jittery like a person who hasn’t studied for a test. The Cleveland Clinic strongly advises people to stay away from energy drinks. Energy drinks have a whole lot less caffeine than than a cup of coffee has. Coffee has zero grams of sugar and energy drinks has an estimated amount of twenty - nine grams of sugar. Lastly, since coffee has a much higher caffeine level than an energy drink does it would increase your heart rate. When playing sports you would want a lower heart rate and not a increased heart rate because you have to breathe very fast which makes you tired.
