There so many differences between code meshing and code switching. As Vershawn Ashanti Young theorized the topic between the two. Code switching means the practice of moving back and forth between two languages or between two dialects of the same language Code meshing is a strategy for blending many varieties of language with privileged standard language.
Do I utilize either one of these; I can actually say I do. The method I utilize would be code switching. Code switching best fits me because I consider my speaking language as half and half. As a young black girl growing up with a family that spoke mostly code switching. So as I gotten older I tend to know how to only speak that way. At home I would speak otherwise as switching but while out in public and school I speak the best to my ability because I’m not use to code meshing. …show more content…

I was told by teachers that the way I wrote was the way I spoke and it made me feel kind of bad knowing that some of my words wouldn’t sound or be spell correctly. Even when I’m at work I have to think of what I say before I say it because I would mostly say it as a “slang” word and not even think I said anything the wrong way . I should work on it but it would be kind of hard now that I got so much older and I’m use to talking that way.
Yes I do believe that English based language should be use in a classroom and should be recognized because I don’t feel that it’s no child's fault the way they speak. Students lives will be hampered if they don't learn standard english. I think it should be recognized and utilize in a classroom because teachers should understand that some students are not taught to use based and standardized language. This my opinion on code meshing and code switching.
